I've been drinking Bourbon almost 30 years. I love premium and special releases. I just realized that I didn't get my hands on any of these Bourbons this year. I'm really happy that Bourbon is having a rennaissance and so many more people are discovering how great it is. That said, the market has really beat me down. I don't want to wait in line or do a raffle. The good bottles are so hard to get. There are also so many mediocre products with premium price tags, when I do find a special release I'm suspect of it. Most of the time it's only there because it's way overpriced and not that great. In 2024, I think I'm going to put in a little more effort to get what I want. 2023 just was not a great year for me. I hope you guys have a great 2024. Cheers guys!
Don't lose heart. You nailed it. Price is no indicator of quality. Try before you buy and hunt what you like, and there is always plenty of world class bourbon on the shelf at a great price.
Found a Michters recently and it was great. I passed on the Rickhouse for the 13 as i could only choose one at the time. The 13 is also great if you can find it The others have not seen a trace of which is a shame.
Went by to see Wes on Wednesday at the Store. Had the new George T Stagg and Pappy 12 to share. Wes was gone, but met his daughter and she is an amazing young lady. Brought a friend and picked up some Man Supplies. Recommend the store to everyone!
Great list! It’s nice to see bottles on the list that aren’t BTAC or ultra rare unicorns. I actually haven’t tried any of these, so it’s good to know these earned such high praise! Thanks for all you guys do for the community. Cheers!
I just started my bourbon journey this year and I have been on a tear! Love Old Forrester, 1792, Bardstown, Origin Dragons Milk and Redwood Empire. For Christmas I was able to procure a Stagg and a EHT barrel proof! Feeling blessed, but my budget for 2024 is shot! So I would love to get a hold of these samples here!
I like how you all are always reiterating that your opinions are based on what you have actually tasted and what taste profiles you like, not what the "hype" is around a certain bottle. Thanks as always for the content!
Great discussion! Very enjoyable to listen to your different views on the same bourbons. It’s like sitting in with you guys, sipping bourbon with a lot of talk and laughter! I’m sure you all have a lot of fun together!
Thanks for the great list. I had a chance to pick up the Russell's before word got out how good it was, but couldn't pull the trigger at $300. Wish I had...I really enjoy Bourbon Real Talk. It's both entertaining and educational. Great work guys.
My fiancée took the “banana forward, right in the face” line so out of context 😂 Great stuff, I’d love a sample of these great Bourbons, very hard to get here in Australia! Cheers guys 🥃
Loved to hear your comments on these and also hear how your palates differed! Cool to see some of the initial impressions you guys had on some of these held up over the year. Out to give others a chance as I've been blessed to pick up a couple of these and receive a sample from you guys in a tasting flight I hope to share soon! Good luck all!
First listened to this episode on Spotify. Came here to see what #1 was. I could be crazy, but you guys never said “13th Colony” in the audio. I was guessing it was this product, but had to check out RUclips to be sure. Great job as usual! Cheers!
Your are correct. We had not preplanned who was going to discuss 13th colony. I realized when I reviewed the episode that we never said the name, but it was too late to do anything about it. Sorry.
Have to say that list is not only solid, but somewhat available. Pricing is a whole nother story, but with enough looking, I am sure I'll find a few of those at a reasonable price. Cheers...all the best for a prosperous 2024.
Of those present (I haven't had the 13th colony) Michter's 10 is the winner. There is just something special about how Michter's does their process with oak that makes even a lower proof whiskey phenomenal. My personal top 5 this year in no particular order: Maker's Mark Cellar Aged, Michter's 10 bourbon, Bomberger's '23, EH Taylor Barrel Proof batch 12, and Stagg 23a. Honorable mention to Jack Daniel's 10 year.
Definitely agree on the JD 12 and the ECBP C923. Those were both excellent! Haven’t had the pleasure of trying the other 3, but have heard amazing things about all of them. Love the channel! Cheers!
Great list and content as per usual! I managed to scoop up this year’s EHTBP at an allocated event (got the second to last bottle 😅). I sampled an earlier batch the night prior which swung me towards it and away from Blanton’s SFTB.
Love the list. Russell's is typically some of by favorite bourbons. I wish I could afford the special releases. Not to mention the 13 year. That stuff is so good just never affordable. Love all you guys do!!
I couldn’t agree with you guys more on the Michters 10 and the EC C923. Thanks for all the content and also for the great swag. My wife got me your sample box for Christmas and it’s fantastic.
Impressive lineup! I've only been able to try the ECBP but they all sound amazing. It's always good to hear ones that are truly worth the hunt, as well as what palates they might appeal to. Take care and enjoy the New Year!
Tried the JD12 in April as part of a flight alongside the 10 in Nashville, and immediately knew the 12 release was special. Was lucky to find a bottle that I plan to crack later this year. Also was lucky to find the ECBP C923 which I haven’t opened yet - that one surprisingly is hard to get. Anyway, great show guys and look forward to sharing info with this community!
Nice. I didn't try any of these myself. This year was mainly about TX based whiskey for me. Rebecca Creek DB Spanish Oak, a couple of Balcones Single Malt CS store picks, and several different offerings from Whitmeyer's and Sill Austin, were all standouts for me this year.
Fantastic list. Tried all but the 2023 M10B but the bottle is getting delivered in a few days. RRSR CNF is a really great pour, as is the 13CDO. All great in their own individual ways.
Semi brand new to all this. Been running around town hunting for bottles with this Christmas money. No real luck yet but the search continues. Thanks guys
I had the opportunity to try the JD12 and the Michters 10, both at bars in Louisville. Both were exceptional, but I give the nod to the JD12. Great list!
95-110 proof range is my sweet spot so glad to see Michter’s and JD make this list. Hoping to see more high end offerings in these proof ranges in 2024.
Holy Moly!!! That is such an awesome list! I’ve only had two of these, the C923 and the 13th Colony DO…. I loved the C923, but upon revisiting it I find it’s not as great as I remembered. That makes me sad. But that list of bottles as a whole is hard to beat! I would be happy to have any or all on my bar! Great video, and Wes… it’s ok to not like the best bourbon made in Georgia. Doesn’t change that I think your awesome at all! Cheers guys! 🥃
I love how different each "Top Whiskey's of the Year" Differ. Fred Minninck, Whiskey Advocate, Breaking bourbon, and so on. All have different top 5. There has been a common Whiskey I have seen this year. ECBP C923. I have yet to taste it/find it. Would love a little sip!
As I mentioned there were some bangers that I didn't try, so that could account for the variance. We don't all get the same bottles, but our palates are different too.
Heck of a lineup. I can't disagree with any of those. Really hoping more Jack 12 comes out in subsequent years like they did with Jack 10b this year. It was amazing but hard to find.
@BourbonRealTalk exactly! I'm sure it will be as hard to find as 12 was this year and 10 the year before. Hopefully I can be as lucky with the 2nd and subsequent batches of each new age statement as they keep adding and be patient enough not to pay secondary.
Man that's a solid lineup. I've never had any of them but, having had fantastic selections from most of those distilleries, I bet those bottles are exceptional.
im talking msrp price... I was lucky enough to walk in and grab one for 80 doll hairs, that's a great price for 12 yr old bourbon out the door @@BigBadJerryRogers

Love you! Thank you for the support!
Thanks for the opportunity guys!!

Great list. Thanks for the opportunity to try these

I love the selection. From different distilleries, different proofs, and most importantly, because you love them! Cheers!
Exactly! They were the ones we loved!
Thanks for pulling back the curtain on these bottles, and mentioning the cons in addition to the glowing pros. Great 2023 and cheers to 2024!
We are nothing if not honest
Great channel, I've recently fallen down the rabbit hole in bourbon, previously a Scotch man. You're on my top 3 bourbon channels.
Welcome to the chaos!
I just started my bourbon journey this year and I have been on a tear! Love Old Forrester, 1792, Bardstown, Origin Dragons Milk and Redwood Empire. Solid list. Happy New Year. Looking forward to your videos in 2024.
We will try to keep it exciting
This is my first year hunting, collecting and enjoying bourbon. Your channel is a great resource. Thanks for the info!

I like how you all are always reiterating that your opinions are based on what you have actually tasted and what taste profiles you like, not what the "hype" is around a certain bottle. Thanks as always for the content!

It’s the best when all 3 of you gentlemen are on together! 👍
I love to hear that!
Great discussion! Very enjoyable to listen to your different views on the same bourbons. It’s like sitting in with you guys, sipping bourbon with a lot of talk and laughter! I’m sure you all have a lot of fun together!
We do. I think we are going to try to integrate a little more banter.
That would be great! Thanks Randy!
Thanks for the opportunity to try these. They are near impossible to find outside of secondary.
Good luck
Great list! 13 Colony DO is definitely on my hunting list this year!
Same!
Solid lineup for sure! Happy New Year.
Same to you!
Thanks for the great list. I had a chance to pick up the Russell's before word got out how good it was, but couldn't pull the trigger at $300. Wish I had...I really enjoy Bourbon Real Talk. It's both entertaining and educational. Great work guys.
Thank you so much! Obviously I felt the same way about the Russels, but luckily I found a bottle after I passed.
My fiancée took the “banana forward, right in the face” line so out of context 😂 Great stuff, I’d love a sample of these great Bourbons, very hard to get here in Australia! Cheers guys 🥃
🤣
Thanks for the videos and the history of bourbon and whiskey
I love history, so I try to through a little in
Totally agree with you on the Michter’s 10. Can’t wait to try the Jack 12 and the 13th Colony double-barreled.
They are both great.
Happy New Year great video keep up the good work
Thanks! You too!

Great list for 2023! I was fortunate to get 4 of the 5. Cheers to a great 2024!

Amen to that!
Solid list. Love the ECBP, JD12 and Michters
The Michters surprised me. It is usually to light for me.
Loved Elijah Craig C923. I would love to one day try those other bourbons you had chosen. Thanks for sharing.

Nice simple and straight forward list! Have not had a chance to try any of them but always keeping an eye out!
Good luck on the hunt.

Feeling super blessed to have gotten 4/5 of the bottles! Great video 👍
Good stuff!
Great list of bottles! Unfortunately I only have had a chance to have two of the five but hopefully I will soon! Thanks for the video!

Thanks for the list. We love Michter's and are looking forward to trying Michter's 10
Hope you love it!

Interesting. I am still trying to get an EHTBP from 2023.
Happy new year!
Happy new year to you too
Awesome content, cheers BRTC!
Thank you
Love the list. Russell's is typically some of by favorite bourbons. I wish I could afford the special releases. Not to mention the 13 year. That stuff is so good just never affordable. Love all you guys do!!
Thanks! I did try this next to 13 Batch 2, and I preferred the CNF by a decent margin.
Go get bardstown discovery 11 and try it next to Russel’s 13 🎉🎉
Great picks guys! Cheers!
thanks
Fantastic review of the top five! I am thinking of making a trip to 13 Colony now.
Their regular product is good too.
Once again, thank you for great content!
My pleasure!
Your channel is a asset to the community.
Thank you so much!
I couldn’t agree with you guys more on the Michters 10 and the EC C923. Thanks for all the content and also for the great swag. My wife got me your sample box for Christmas and it’s fantastic.
Thank you for the support!
Great list! I was able to find the Jack 12 and the ECBP C923 in my area, but never got the opportunity to even see the other 3.
Some of these were hard to find, but the RRSRCDF has been easier to find due to the price.
Impressive lineup! I've only been able to try the ECBP but they all sound amazing. It's always good to hear ones that are truly worth the hunt, as well as what palates they might appeal to. Take care and enjoy the New Year!
Thanks for watching!
I have the JD 12 and the 13th Colony DO. Looking forward to opening them!
Do it! They are great and you can form a lot of good memories sharing them.
Tried the JD12 in April as part of a flight alongside the 10 in Nashville, and immediately knew the 12 release was special. Was lucky to find a bottle that I plan to crack later this year. Whoa… I picked up a bottle of the 13th Colony Southern Whiskey last week and LOVED it... Would love to try that Double Oaked one too!! ❤🥃
I love their regular bourbon!

Rebecca Creek DB Spanish Oak, a couple of Balcones Single Malt CS store picks, and several different offerings from Whitmeyer's and Sill Austin, were all standouts for me this year.

You guys rock, great content and very helpful information.
Glad you enjoyed it!
JD12 , ECBP c923 ,Bardstown single barrel, and Penelope 9yr 🔥
Bardstown and Penelope have some good stuff!
JD 12 is NOT JUST BOURBON! It is AMAZING BOURBON! Finally opened mine before Christmas and man, it is great.
So glad you love it!
Fantastic list. Tried all but the 2023 M10B but the bottle is getting delivered in a few days. RRSR CNF is a really great pour, as is the 13CDO. All great in their own individual ways.
We are going to do a blind of them next week.
JD Twice Barreled Rye is best ryes I've tried this year. 13th Col sample is on my hunt list for '24. Great GAW!
We are thinking of doing a rye list.
@BourbonRealTalk please do. Trying to get more unto ryes, and would be great to narrow it down to a couple for Hunt List.
Great list, Hate I couldn’t find any of these all year. Did have a lead on the ECBP but by the time I got their it was gone…..the hunt continues
Good luck!
Great list! Wish I could procure even one of these bottles!
We are thinking of doing a best of 2023 that are readily available.
Haven’t tried any except the ECBP. Looking forward to trying the rest in the near future. Cheers y’all!
Cheers
Great lineup gents! I need to try to find these bottles!
Good luck on the hunt!
Semi brand new to all this. Been running around town hunting for bottles with this Christmas money. No real luck yet but the search continues. Thanks guys
The hunt is most of the fun, and the people you meet along the way.
I had the opportunity to try the JD12 and the Michters 10, both at bars in Louisville. Both were exceptional, but I give the nod to the JD12. Great list!
I think we are going to rank them blind.
I haven’t opened my C923 yet, but I love the honest feedback that you didn’t see a huge difference.
I think the hype causes people to associate too large of a difference. Congrats on the find.
95-110 proof range is my sweet spot so glad to see Michter’s and JD make this list. Hoping to see more high end offerings in these proof ranges in 2024.
I am a 100-115 person myself. Cheers!
Have only tried 2 of the 5....Thanks!
Our pleasure!
Holy Moly!!! That is such an awesome list! I’ve only had two of these, the C923 and the 13th Colony DO…. I loved the C923, but upon revisiting it I find it’s not as great as I remembered. 🤣 Wes just doesn't like toasted barrel flavors. I guess it is just too much sweetness for his manly demeanor
Glad I got the JD12 and ECBPC923 this year!
Congrats
Wow such a great lineup!
Thanks!
Great list fellas! Cheers 🥃

Great review video. It is always nice to recap your thoughts. I am a big fan of the Elijah Craig.
ECBP is an undervalued regular release IMO
You guys are awesome! Great selections! ...and 13th Colony is legit! 🥰
Thank you!
Great review! Heard a lot about that 13th colony and getting very curious now. I am going to seek out a pour.
It tastes like a toasted barrel GTS to me.
I haven't tried any of these but wouldn't be able to find them around here if I wanted to. Great episode.
Sorry to hear that. You should enter the randomizer
Awesome choices!
Thank you!
Nice group of 5! Would love to try!
Good luck!
Heck of a lineup. I can't disagree with any of those. Really hoping more Jack 12 comes out in subsequent years like they did with Jack 10b this year. It was amazing but hard to find.

got to find a 13th colony double oaked - thanks - happy new year
I think they are only available on the secondary at this point
Outstanding as always! Hope to be able to try some of these at some point but unfortunately that's easier said than done.
I understand. I am thinking of doing a best of that are easy to find whiskeys.
@@BourbonRealTalk That would be awesome!
I like this video. Admittedly I have not had any, but did get the ECBP A123. Really want to try the 13 Colonies. Keep up the good work.
Will do
I have the JD12 and the EC C923, boy are they great, been looking for the others but have been missing out, great episode
Thank you
That C923 is fantastic! Haven't been able to try these other 4, but loved the EC.

Amazing list. Tough to choose a winner.
We are going to do them blind next week.
That 13th Colony sounds great!
I guess I was the only one that really loved that one of the three of us, but I thought it was great!
Awesome list but I have only tried the C923. Very interested in the 13th Colony. Cheers!
Good luck on the hunt
Great looking bar top with those bottles on it!
Thanks, I made the bar myself!
