My Dad started going about 2 years ago. It's so hard watching my first hero lose to this most evil of diseases. Knowing that there's not a damn thing I can do to stop it.
I understand. My dad had Alzheimer's. My husband had Early Onset Alzheimer's. I never heard this song before! Kudos to Eric Church for raising awareness on Alzheimer's!
I haven't had any experience with this terrible disease. Yet here I sit, a grown ass man of almost 30, with a head full of tears and a lump in my chest, thats what this mans music will do to you.
i personally think itd be too emotional for him to have to play it twice a week at concerts so i respect his decision…this is the side people dont see and its beautiful
Eric has been my favorite artist for the last decade. Besides being an incredibly talented singer songwriter and arguably the most entertaining performer of his genre today, it is probably because I keep finding parallels between my life and his lyrical content. My grandmother had Alzheimer for 13 years. I've seen the heartache this disease causes. This song moved me to tears. I hope it gets cut on a future album. It would be incredible if he used this song to raise money for a cure.
My grandmother had the same thing it is awful watching someone go through this he is by far the best artist out there he puts his own personal experiences in his music it’s so moving he’s so amazing
My dad has alzeihmers and this song means so much to me. I can relate to every word. My jaw dropped when I first heard it. I would love to have a copy with better sound. Please record it
My dad is dying of cancer as I right this...thank you Eric for writing this song and thank you Chelsea for letting us watch this...life goes by fast..live everyday to the fullest...
Chief, I've loved your music for many years, but "Alzheimer's" made me cry and helped me let go of a lot, I was not able to deal with. My sweet Little Mama and the rare spark i see in her eyes, which means, that's my little girl, Kathy.😢❤😊😘😎🎼💖#1 Fan of Eric Church! Thank You and God Bless 🙏❤️🙏
After four studio albums(that I all own and LOVE) you'd think he'd have a hard time writing great new stuff...but wow he's never going to stop. Deep song and even the chords he had on the guitar were amazing
christianfilmer1500 -- he wrote close to 120 songs for The Outsiders. That right there proves to you he's real. Most would be satisfied once they got 11 or 12 songs written. Nope, he picks the perfect ones out of all his work.
I truly wish Eric Church would have been the one to have recorded this on an album. Going thru it like he did and showing emotions really comes out when he sings it. Living the past four years with both parents going thru it...it's heartbreaking. I'm blessed to have my beautiful four year old daughter to help me through each day. Thank you Eric Church for writing what many of us feel. Bless you
Worked in Long Term Care 31 years . Every family should hear this. Hope it comes out.Along with Glen Campbells' I'm Not Going To Miss You.Between these two songs no truer words written or sung
Touching song and I know where Eric is coming form. My father passed away in 2022 and he too suffered from dementia, and also slowly deteriorated and went downhill. I wrote a song called "There's A Spanish Train" in his memory, because he was a railway man. When he started to forget his loved ones and also himself, this was very hard to watch as a health care professional myself.
Thanks Chelsea for recording and posting it. It has been a blessing for me to hear. Just to hear how someone else relates to my situation. Let's me know others understand
I am a Geriatric/Alzheimer's Nurse and I L❤️VE my calling in this life to serve those in need. Life is too short. Make lots of memories with your loved ones.
i lost my grandma like three years ago right after celebrating our family Christmas early with the whole family. my grandma had alzheimers where she just repeated what you said. it sucks to someone you love get that way. i would love this recorded
Wow what a great song, I worked as a nurse for 10yrs caring for people with dementia and alzeimers, it's a horrible disease and so sad to watch people go through it. I lost all my grandparents in my teens and I thank God they didn't go that way.
Wow I can really relate My Mom Passed of Alzheimer’s in 2013 very hard time for my whole family’s life The Chief really knows how to bring it home He’s just Amazing person going to see him tomorrow in Philadelphia it is always quite an experience there is not any performer that puts so much into his Music Thanks Chief.
I know this is about Alzheimer's and his grandpa struggling with it and I respect that, but this song always makes me think of an miss my ex. Her family member suffers from it and she use to listen to this a lot. Rubbed off on me cause now I do too. Miss her every time i hear it.
Even tho I've never had any personal experience with alzheimers, other than I worked with alzheimers patients in a nursing home for several months when I was younger... and worked in the medical field for many years,... this song is very gut wrenching for some reason.. he is an amazing artist.. no doubt about it.
Not to hate on William Michael Morgan… but we need Eric to put this song out. It’s like Tim McGraw putting out Whiskey and You. They’re not bad songs.. but the real deal is mint.
my Mom went to see her Mom my Grandmother in a home care facility expecting as usual that she wouldn't remember her, grandma was eating her lunch and reached out to my Mom a bite of her cubed chicken and smiled and said,"come on & eat your food and you'll get desert!" My Mom said she regressed back to her childhood and really got emotional
I had a mothy that had Alzheimer's disease! She gave me to black eyes? She forgot my twin brother . But wanted justice for her granddaughters death!.She woke up Every morning telly her granddaughter good morning!

thanks eric, that song touched our hearts... i have been writing extensively about Alzheimer's for over a decade. i believe that Alzheimer's is a TSE prion disease, and i believe it is transmissible via iatrogenic modes as with cjd, i have said this for 2 decades, and i believe science has shown this now, and not only that, but also the aged cattle brain displays Alzheimer’s-like pathology that can be propagated in a prionlike manner, and if this is validated many times, then we are in a mess for sure i.e. FEED FEED FEED, intake, consumption, exposure, FRIENDLY FIRE THERE FROM, here's my take... see; Singeltary comments; Re-Evidence for human transmission of amyloid-β pathology and cerebral amyloid angiopathy >>> The only tenable public line will be that "more research is required’’ > possibility on a transmissible prion remains open

Please stop put away your chart
You can save your heart to heart
I've got some memories in a deck of cards
Need some shuffling thru
Looks like he's still wide awake
Looks like he still won't take those pills
We put there yesterday
???????????????????????????????
I don't wanna hear he's going down hill
What about thank God he's around still
Lookin right thru me he's not at all the way I see him
I don't mind remembering for him
He don't have to get why I adore him
He don't have to know me
Cause I know who he is
My dad my coach my friend
Little voice behind Boy where the hell you been
Lover of my momma thru thick and thin
Best man I've ever known
All time quarterback when us kids were in a bind
Cheek full of Red Man in a duck blind
No offense doc, but if you don't mind
I wouldn't mind some time alone
Cause I don't wanna hear he's going down hill
What about thank God he's around still
Lookin right thru me he's not at all the way I see him
I don't mind at all remembering for him
He don't have to get why I adore him
He don't have to know me
Cause I know who he is
Full of pride baby boy on his knee there
Full of life with a beer and a beach chair
He's a fixture in my head full of pictures
I don't mind at all remembering for him
He don't have to get why I adore him
He don't have to know me
Cause I know who he is
I know who he is
And I love who he is
+Steven Spaude Thanks! I was thinking the same on the second one.
