As a long time viewer I really want to say that the best part of Dan's channel is how authentic it feels. He looks like an ol' timey prospector, just following his passion of gold! I watch all his videos start to end!
As a recent sub, something I thought was so respectful was how he says "I hope to earn your subscription today". And he certainly earns it. He seems a great, genuine person.
Mr. Hurd, I must say that I found your videos on a lark one day a few months ago and I haven't been able to stop watching them since! Whenever I'm having a hard day, I put on one of your videos are I'm instantly smiling! I love your intros and how your floppy hat really emphasizes what you're talking about, especially when you say "Iiii hope to earn your subscription today!" Well sir, you have earned mine! Keep up the passion and the enthusiasm, it is absolutely contagious. Being a fellow Canadian from across the country (Ottawa, ON), the way you go about narrating and making your videos makes me feel as if I'm a part of your adventures. I love it. Keep up the great work, Dan!
I rarely comment on any videos but I had to finally give in. I absolutely enjoy your videos. I’ve always wanted to prospect for gold but never took the time. In a way I live out my dream of doing this through your videos. I’m an entertainer on stage 4 shows a week…so this is a critique…your camera presence is captivating and entertaining as well as informative. You’ve managed to pull me into all of your videos as if I’m there next to you. God bless you sir and your adventures. Can’t wait to see the next one.
Excellent video! I'm learning a lot from you two. Thank you. I'm leaving to the mountains in my camper tomorrow with my new highbanker sluice for a month to look for gold.
Yeah the forest fires in Washington have been real bad this year and the smoke has been everywhere. It's so bad the local weather apps just say the weather is "smoke".
Nagyagite or commonly called Tellurium is the silver colored vugs you are seeing with the gold inside the quartz. It is AuTe2 is the composition when smelted. Very common in almost all gold bearing quartz in hard rock mines in Mainly the western gold mine from Colorado to the coast.
Dan and Jason, I have only one piece of advice for both of you, DON'T STEP BACK! Cheers, Rik Spector We're getting interesting Sunrises here in Ferndale , but the smoke is "supposed to head East this afternoon, Sunday October 16. What a great view and GOLD!!!!!
Oh my! I feel for you Dan walking up that mountain and then breaking rocks!! I've got M.E. (and a heart operation coming up) so I have to be very careful with my energy. Luckily the worst I've had to do here in England is walk 200 feet up from the river valley. Btw, those views are amazing!! :o)
Hi Dan...had the pleasure of meeting pioneer pauly....and i thought of you cause i know u like the lapidary side of rock hounding and such. I am in the middle of getting my hips fixed...but there's a creek near cowichan lake that has these large boulders of a rock that is red in colour not to mention huge boulders of quartz. Next year i should be good to go and if you might be on the island i would love to share this location with you. And you should be able to make some incredible pieces from it. I guess i could try to get a picture of it to you if i head up there...but i dont want to hurt myself and my wife would kill me.:) Anyways its easy access from the road.....love your channel and keep on keepin on...best regards, Greg Cornell.
it’s 11pm down in Fl was getting ready for bed when I noticed the Notification of a new video had to watch before hitting the hay for the night great video
I love watching your videos Dan. I so miss the Cascade mountains in Washington state. I became interested in prospecting after spending a few months on the Merced River outside of Mariposa CA. Oh by the way the berries you picked are Huckleberries. Best berries on the planet!
Hard Hard Hard Hard Rock Mining (Elevation Hike Smoke and Rocks ) Looks like you got some treasure for your efforts, very neat to see in the quartz. Welcome to Washington!
I'd never seen mountains like those. But I have a son living Seattle and maybe I can get him to take me on a drive up there whenever I manage to get out there. I'm thinking next Spring, after the snow melts and before all the fires start! Now, take care of yourself!
Absolutely sympathize with the hike. My son & I hiked over a mile one way to watch the eclipse. Hiking OUT is to be considered, too. Thanks for taking us along.
Dan, your ability to grow a beard is like a super power! It's better now than it was before your heart attack, I remember seeing your shaved pic on your post then, and I was afraid for you. It's wonderful to see all of your content since, thank you.
Thank you so much for including the video of the free mill gold under the microscope. Those images are the exact same as the very small sample of gold I found in the Upper Penn of Michigan recently,
Well once again you guys did a good job I really enjoyed that video I love to see gold inside the Rock I'm glad you took it easy going up the mountain cuz of my age I know I would be able to do it but once again really good video I thank you for sharing that and you guys keep digging and swinging
I can’t even believe the back drop you have on the intro. What outstanding beautiful environment you guys are enjoying. I will most certainly find myself in that area at some point. Great job guys
Hey Dan you know , in Oregon miners find this black tar like material that turns out to be mainly gold , it is just in a form that is not golden metallic . Have you heard of that stuff ?
Love seeing you and Jason collabing on vids. You two need to hook up with Brent from Cerro Gordo and Heavy D Sparks, who just bought a ghost town/gold mine.
You think those Washingtonians have bad roads in their hills you should see some of the roads in Oregon's hills Oregon isn't known for big gold but we have it and tons of agate and different gems.
Citrine is the yellow to brownish-red variety of the mineral Quartz. It is a widely used as a gemstone, and after Amethyst it is the most popular Quartz gem. Most Citrine is formed by heat treating purple Amethyst. Citrine may also be produced by heat-treating Smoky Quartz from certain localities.
You know there may or may not be some good areas out here but I havent had anyone to do any good digging here in idaho but there are some mines that havent been checked that a few people wanna take me to but I think you may like going out
Glad you made it safely up the mountain! Fun subject. I am a rockhound and quartz is plentiful here in the PNW. It is so plentiful that I don't usually pick it up. Really liked the video. Take care.
👋 hi Dan I really injoy watching your gold adventures. as a fairly new at looking gold and from Kelowna how I get into gold adventures I would like to learn how find gold and go places like gold panner in Cherryville or Baskerville? please make more adventures thanks
When I was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA I used to run along the bottom of a bluff, and noticed a large area of quartz with a lot of either pyrite or gold.
Dan I remember when you had started off, the videos you made were better than watching the idiotic Shows on the discovery channel, because you actually taught us something, seeing you almost reaching 1 million it makes me extremely happy and I will keep cheering for you as you keep growing!
Dan, I found your channel awhile ago.....from the Philadelphia area of Pennsylvania......have to say- your video's are fantastic, fun, enjoyable, informative and very entertaining! I am living my prospecting life vicariously through you! Would love to come up there one day and do some prospecting as you depict it! Well Done Sir!!!

@@jonbraid2520 same, first video I watched, as soon as I heard that I subbed. He’s so authentic. 😬
He has the look but the way he acts and talks is all an act!
@@NET-POSITIVE the way everyone talks is an act to some extent. Chill out.
That opening shot with the mountains in the background was awesome.
You should dress(grind) the head of your chisel so a shard doesn’t break off while striking and poke your eye out. Safety tip from old machinist.
Honestly... the most precious thing you found this video was the view during the first few seconds in the video
I tell ya, besides any gold you find, you have the added treasures of the scenery when you do these trips. That alone makes these trips worth it!

Dan, with you hanging out with Jason, and Jason hanging out with Brent, it's just a matter of time til we see you in Cerro Gordo on Ghost Town Living!
"i hope to earn your subscription today" that is the most wholesome thing ive heard a youtuber say.
I love it when you guys collaborate together. Enjoy both your channels.

Really like the close ups Dan👌🏻⛏🏴
I live in Washington and right now the best thing to do because of all the wildfire smoke is to stay indoors.
Hard Hard Hard Hard Rock Mining (Elevation Hike Smoke and Rocks ) Looks like you got some treasure for your efforts, very neat to see in the quartz. Welcome to Washington!
As always, a pleasure to watch and to learn!
Man that sure is stunning scenery I would have had a nap at the top mountain air makes me sleepy Zzzzz

Those aren't blueberries but mountain huckleberries. They are wonderful!
Really enjoy the partnership between Jason and Dan. At least every other month please!
You should get a big wheel cart, like deer hunters use to get deer out of the woods! Light weight and strong!
Thanks for another cool vid Dan we appreciate it

Great video Dan.i have collected a lot of quartz with gold in big quantities in spots but I can't tell if it's pirate or gold.
