    I took time today to make this cake and it is amazing! When I cut the tops off the cake layers and tasted them, it was like eating a brownie! The cake layers are moist and delicious! Thank you for sharing! ❤️❤️❤️

    Will.this be ok for a normal.mud cake layer cover with fondant or buttercream ? Is it moist and soft

      It's firm but moist. You can syrup the layers if you like. Great to cover on fondant or buttercream.

    What is the difference between the regular chocolate layer cake and the chocolate mud cake? Which is chocolateyer? How does mud compare to devil's food?

      Mud and devil are very similar. They are a dense rich cake. Great for carving.

    I baked three 6” round muds today and when I put the cakes on the 6” board noticed there wasn’t much room to ganache do you just go up to a 7” board and ganaching lid? It’s been a while since I’ve done a cake LOL

      You can go up to a 7" if you like but the gap will be big OR you can just trim around the cake and still use the 6" board.

    8” square baking pan. Is the measurement 8” on all sides or 8” diagonally?

    Thank you so much for this it's took the mystery of making these type of cakes. Please could I ask, should I set the oven to 150 as it is a fan oven. Thank you once again.

      If you have a fan, set it to 140C which should give an actual temp of 160C.

      Replace it with 150g All Purpose Flour and 1 Teaspoon Baking Powder.

    Can u make a vegetarian cake that is good for stacking ( to make a Betty crocker castle cake). I need to make for my daughter's birthday in Feb. Lot of kids don't eat eggs in India due to religious beliefs. I have tried many but they were too moist not like sponge cake. I also want to know whether ur condensed milk frosting would be stable enough for a castle cake if refrigerated?

    Hello..... subscribed to your channel you have amazing recipes....do you have eggless versions for dense cakes both chocolate and vanilla that are good for carving?

      Welcome! This cupcake recipe can be cooked in an 8" pam. It is not a recipe I have used for carving. Generally of you refrigerate cakes overnight, they will become denser and easier to carve so that may work for this as well.
