The cap / competitive balance for 2025 is 241m, Red Sox is projected to have a 180m payroll right now, so I agree with the club giving a deal to Bregman longer than 3 years make no sense since a) his production been steadily declining especially on the walk and power numbers, 2) we have mlb ready top prospect at his position ready to take at bats in 2b /3b, 3) having a 25-30m salary anchor for 6 plus years would handcuff them on big young free agents assume they give a huge extension to Crochett and lock up Anthony in the near future. BUT, we do need a right handed power bat for the next 12-24 month, So given we got 60m of cap space and it looks like Bregman got NO suitor at his asking price, we can overpay him like 40 to 45M this year, then give him 25m annually the next two years but he can opt out every year, this way he really get overpaid this year in a prove it year at a hitter park and get to cash in if he produces, we don’t mind since the Sox can fit him in at 45 and still have 15 to 20m left to tinker before the cap, then if he has a great year we can decide what to do with him then, win win for all parties involved, seem too logical so it definitely won’t happen 😂
People keep talking about the sam Kennedy speech like it was a confirmation they’d go over the luxury tax this year. To me it was a response to likely concerns brought up by Juan Soto given the lack of spending the last few years. I think they’ll spend but they’re not gonna jam a square peg into a round hole to do it
Bregman is ok but a risk. If he has a limited market, wait him out. And not to play him at 2B. Cut the cord with Yoshida (eat the money and start over), move Raffy to DH and play the incumbent GG winner. Don't block Campbell. Or forget Bregman.
I just don't see them signing any free agent bats. if they won't give Teaoscar 3 for $66 then what makes anyone thinkg they give Bregman anything close to what he wants. This front office sux. Just trade more prospects, when you don't have to, and then when u are good and need a trade u have no prospects. they will end up with Arenado trade
Not for 7 years. Borss needs to lower his demands. Maybe 4 years tops and a mutual option for a 5th year. Even 4 years might he risky, but it's less risky than 7 years. After that they have another roster clogger like Story and Yoshida sre for the next 3 years.

One of my nightmare scenarios is having Bregman sign with the Yanks
Cedane killed as a rookie. Once he gets more comfortable and adjusts his strikeouts he can be a consistent.300 batter
If the guy in the green would not repeat Carabis word for word that be nice 😂

I want the Red Sox to sign Alex Bregman he's a realistic fit for the Boston Red Sox in a power right handed bat
They had a right handed power bat in O’Neil and they let him go.
Bregman in the infield next to story is going to be insane if it happens.
Look at Duvall we thought there was something in him too
Alex Bregman to the Boston Red Sox going to happen Walker Buehler is going to be aggressive
no bregman. just resign Jd Martinez that it.

They don't need to wait. However they don't need to pay bum bregman

Yea no we don’t need him 😂
Sure just offer him 7 years $200 million and he's all yours, but not going to happen.
He is a overpaid regressing noodle bat. He blocks Campbell and eliminates pursuit of another elite bat with his money
