    Thank you very much for this very helpful explanation! I also noticed that there is no absolute evil and good in this world, only antagonists and helpers. The only absolute evil for Mizoguchi seems to be greed and the destruction of nature that stems from it.

      That's a good observation. I forgot to mention this in the video, But shintoism does not have a concept of evil in the same way that Christianity does. In fact, nature is inherently good.
      But yeah, I agree, the corruption of nature seems to be the evil force here.
