      You'd have to start manufacturing a series of locks which has _usually_ false but _always variable_ emblazoning on the front.
      IE, it _says_ it has 8 levers, it actually has 8. But the next one says 7, it has 8. The next one says 5, it has 9. The next one says it has 8 levers, but it's actually a goddamn disk-detainer core with a radial fin arrangement.

      @S S No idea why he uses thousandths of an inch. If you have grown up with it, the imperial metric makes a lot of sense and in my opinion makes some things easier-- like gallons of gas (petrol/fuel). Undoubtedly though, metric is very useful. Just certain things seem to make a lot of sense...

    there was once a robbery in my friend's house here in India. they were in and out within about 15 minutes. my friend was one of the first to go in afterwards, and he said all the locks were cut at the shackle. even the locks that weren't actually locked had been cut.
    picking isn't exactly a skillset that's common here.

    • @NJ-wb1cz
      @NJ-wb1cz 5 лет назад +29

      @lulzmoose people use the tools and techniques that work the best to achieve the desired result. There's nothing special in lock picking, it's just one of the methods, and sometimes it is still the best - like in appartment buildings with thick metal doors with armored cylinders and multi-point locking mechanisms.
      Angle grinding, drilling and hammerring for 5-10 minutes just isn't a very safe option.

    • @NJ-wb1cz
      @NJ-wb1cz 5 лет назад +52

      @lulzmoose but the overall trend is towards dumbing down because most of the smart thieves become bankers, executives and hedge fund managers. And also due to the fact that the tools are getting ridiculously good and affordable. Like hydro bolt cutters and wireless angle grinders, for example.

    This particular lock would have been much more difficult to pick without the key, since it took the key to find out that the shackle needed to be pushed down to open it in the first place. That, coupled to the unique tensioner required, and eight levers, cutting the lock would be the logical course to open it in a timely fashion... in short, without having the key, I think a lot of lock pickers would have thrown in the towel on this one...

    honestly this seems like a really good lock! an average or even above average lock picker is not going to know how to approach this lock. even just the finicky need to hold the shackle down is a good thing.such a simple little thing to throw someone off but it would be effective. you had the advantage of having a key to look at and play with first but someone walking up to this in the USA would be lost. I'd buy this lock for sure.
