Hi jett i agree with you on everything. I put a bilge pump in that area and it fits perfectly i think it's why its shaped that way. Wish it was a little deeper so the pump would get all the water it leaves a little bit in the back. Anyway thank for the review.
Thanks for that update on that bilge pump because I really have been thinking about trying that first before I drill a hole in mine. Quick question, what you use to secure the bilge pump in place?
Hey Jett....Great recap of likes/ dislikes..I have had my Pelican for 2 years and had the exact same concerns that you outlined. I made the leap last year & put in a scupper, drain plugs in the back of the pontoons & built my transom support that i saw Maxcast outline. It's scary to drill holes in a boat but get some directions from fellow Bass Raiders online and you can push through the fear and it is worth it in the end.....Love your videos.
Thanks for the words of encouragement Kerry and I'm happy to know you enjoyed my review of PBR. I was just in my garage looking at that very area of the boat. You know, In my mind I've been going over the steps of installing a drainage hole. I've been looking @FFH TV content on how he installed his drainage/Scupper hole in his PBR. It looks rock solid to me.
I agree with you on a lot of the changes they should make with this boat, but I think they are trying to keep the coast down, and not have to change production. I feel like they need a basic and a premium version of this boat.
I appreciate you taking the time to give us a thorough review of the boat. It definitely helps! I'm actually going to look at a 10E w/ a enduramax 55 that I found on marketplace, tomorrow. I can't wait to have some open water up here in Maine! Cheers buddy
I'm buying one next week. I have watched tons of videos about this boat and am super excited. I have, and love classic muscle cars and love horsepower. But right now all i can think of is a 10ft plastic boat that can maybe go 5 mph. Thanks for this video. 👍👍
Lol alright I surely hope you truly enjoy your PBR like I've enjoyed mine. I love the fact that you have done so much research on this 10ft plastic "Smart thinking". Thanks for watching and commenting 💪🏾
Smart man "always wear your safety vest" i get alot of sht for wearing mine but id literally jump in and save some old dude that fell in off his boat cuz he wasnt wearing one... i never understood why ppl wanna take that risk
You're right It's crazy how people think it's cooler to be on the water without protective gear on. All we can do @wokeamerica is continue to wear ours and inspire others while we do it. I look at like this if I can inspire one person to wear they life jacket I'm doing good. Thanks for watching my friend I appreciate you leaving a comment. 👍🏾
Just bought a Bass Pro Pond Prowler 10 and can’t wait to get it on the water. Love your review. BTW the Pond prowler has a drain plug in the back of the boat so at least one manufacturer has listened about the drainage issue.
I know that's right I'm thinking about finally installing one on mine. A lil nervous about me drilling a hole in mine but I've nothing but good results from ones who've done it already
Hey sir! Thank you for your honest review! I have had one for a few years now, and agree with your findings. These are great little boats for what they are. I have put mine in storage for now, and I’m switching up to kayaks, but I plan on doing a number of modifications on it this winter. Living in Southern Indiana, it gets cold here, and I will probably use this instead of the kayak to fish in the late fall, early spring months! You have inspired me, and so, I have subbed, and rang the bell. Looking forward to more great content!!
Welcome, Monty to the channel I appreciate you subscribing to my channel. That's what my channel is all about giving my viewers some real fishing, good honest reviews and advice. I appreciate your support. Thank You 👍🏾
My guess is they didn’t add any pre wiring for navigation lights because that would put it in a different classification and require owners in some countries to have a boating licence to operate it. Great review!
Lot of information here about these little boats. I have in the past steered away from having anything to do witth plastic boats. You have changed my mind somewhat. Thanks🙂
Although they not perfect(but no boats perfect) they are very reliable and will provide anyone a cheaper route to fishing in a boat. Thanks for watching Dave. 👍🏾
I love boating and also just being out on the water I’m talking about going to a sand bar and chillin out and just enjoying the moment even making your best day ever
Sounds like a great plan I've been thinking about doing that also. I think it will be very cool. Go for it, thanks for the support I appreciate it. 💯👍🏾
I have a Pond Prowler and the same motor as you. 100% agree with you on the drainage. They also should have designed them with plastic wheels on the back or at least some removable wheels for easier transport off the trailer or for the guys who have to haul in their truck bed.
I actually saw a boat called a Bass Baby online that had wheels built into it. Also there is a guy in Japan with a RUclips channel call Nora JP Fishing that has a BIC boat with wheels and the same outboard that you and I have. It’s really cool.
Yeah I wish they had different size options to choose from but this boat will really surprise you. I thought long and hard about it before I purchased mine. One thing for sure I'm so glad got one. Thanks for watching I appreciate it 👍🏾
Good review. One thing I don't think you mentioned is the fact that it is so customizable. I agree with all of your points, but I think that it being as customizable as it is should have been on there. Tight lines man!
Great review I agree 100% with the dislikes, especially the floor could’ve been a bit more wider. I’m a stand up fisherman so I had to build a casting deck. I’ve had mine for 3 years and love it also, fantastic stable little boat that got me off the banks, for me it’s perfect. Great review bro, I enjoy your channel
Your welcome I'm so happy I was able to give some helpful information about the Pelican Bass Raider. Thank you for taking some time out your busy day to checkout my video. 👍🏾
What I've read about the newest boats they made with stronger plastic, they have better seats, but I read a few reviews & ppl are having complaints about the seats construction not holding up, suppose to have compartments & it's rated at 600 lbs for persons & equipment, but also comes to 1400$, I've watched a lot of your videos concerning the boat & you've done a great job on your modifications, also ppl have put a drain plug in theirs & it started leaking on them, the boat is way better than a kayak more stable wise & you can launch it just about anywhere compared to a big boat that's what I like about it the most, I don't have one yet, but hopefully I will get one this yr! Just read where 2 young anglers drowned yesterday in Virginia they were good swimmers but didn't have life jackets on water temp was 40, very sad! Also where is that boat made?
@@johnnyweaver1300 man that's tuff hearing about the two people losing their lives. It's just some much that can happen in a blink of a eye. Thank You, Jett I've been wanting one of these, but didn't pull the trigger before retiring almost a year ago now they cost more and I'm on fixed budget but I'll find one

Hey Jett My Raider is still new and been working so much I have only used it twice but I love it. And everything that you mentioned I agree with. I am still doing little mods here and there and I need to do the scupper as well cause I will fish in the rain if I have too. I don’t have a trailer and so I made a dolly that most guys on RUclips have made but I want to come up with one that works a little better plus I have no room for a trailer. No outboard for me so I did a little something different that I haven’t seen yet on the back of my boat, but need to fish some more out of it to see how it will work. For me the bottom line was it could put me on the water at a cheap price, bigger boat is nice but comes with having to spend more on maintenance and all that. I put some strips of pvc moulding on the bottom to prevent scratching it all up that somebody else did a video on. Need to get the lighting situated cause I love to fish at night. It’s fun trying to come up with ideas to modify it. Anyway keep grinding and thanks for your videos I watch them all.
Yeah working alot can definitely take away a few fishing days. You probably built the same type dolly I did a couple years ago. It didn't work well for me either so I junk it also. Oh so you've come up with something not seen on RUclips. I hope after you use it on the water more it works out for you. I really appreciate your support 💯 and keep fishing for sho.👍🏾
If you havent done anything about the flex in the trason ive seen some guys add a steel plate and it helps spread the pressure and gets rid of the flex i plan on doing that once i pick up a gas motor
Great video Jett. I am right there with you on the drain plug. I bought all the stuff but can't actually drill a hole and install it.. haha.. We have the same motor too. How do you like that Honda 2.3 so far? I wish they made it a little bit longer. A PBR 12 would be so great. Our setups are very similar. Have a great season Jett. I'll be following your season. BTW.. I did flip mine once. They are stable but me and my buddy leaned over at the same time and over it went. Granted, once in over 200 trips, pretty good. It is stable. I will never get on the boat without a life jacket. It saved me that day. Fish on!
Thank You for checking out my video Vance I to follow your channel. My Honda 2.3 outboard has been excellent investment. I've had mine for 2 yrs and it hasn't let me down. I've been meaning to do a 2 yr review on it. Oh wow it flipped 😳 I'm glad you wear your life jacket that had to be a really shocking experience. Welcome to my channel tight lines.
I would suggest you take a look at the Bass Hunter boat. It is much stronger. It will cost almost twice as much but you pay for what you get. It has no wiring so you have to customize it to your liking. It's wider than the other 2-man bass boats. It is a one piece boat, so no water inside the boat unless you leave it outside in the rain and it get in from the storage cutout.
Yeah they definitely have some areas to really make this lil boat even better. Here a link to my lil DIY on the light setup I use feel free to check it out ruclips.net/video/-wMrDoztJMo/видео.html Thank You for watching
Although it flexes a lil more in the summer it's absolutely nothing to worry I've never had any problems with my outboard slipping. As far as strengthening the transom I've not done anything.
Jett: It looks like you added a plywood floor. If so, what thickness did you go with? Since you fish standing up, does the floor feel a little spongy? I added a 11/32 inch plywood floor which I treated and carpeted. However, it feels a little bouncy under foot when I stand up and move around. As you pointed out, maybe it is just the nature of this kind of “plastic” boat. Would like to hear your thoughts. Enjoyed your video.
Hi Steve, I installed my floor 3 yrs ago using 3/4 inch plywood, outside of it shrinking a little my floor has remained rock solid. I'm around 200lbs an I've never felt any flex while standing in my boat. So I'd say definitely go thicker and you should be good and solid. Thanks for your continuous support it's really nice hearing from people who find my content helpful. 👍🏾
Jett: Appreciate your input on the plywood floor. As you point out, the flex I am feeling in the floor has to do with the thickness of the plywood. Fortunately, I do not fish standing up. At 78, my balance is not what it used to be. Young fellows like you can fish upright!!!!
I understand fully and I definitely applaud you to still be fishing at your age. I hope 🙏🏿 one day to reach your age and still be able to fish like you. Thank you Sir for giving my little fishing channel a chance. I really appreciate you all support. Wishing you luck fishing this year. 👍🏾
As far as stability I don't do anything other than have my rudder attachment on my boat to reduce the boat spinning. Staying seated while the water is choppy is better than standing up. I hope I was able to help answer your question. The Pelican Bass Raider handles wind well.
Good question, I have a few videos of my family fishing with me on my channel. Feel free to checkout my content. Two people can fish comfortably on it just remember it's 10ft long. Stability remains solid you just have to get use to another person moving around in the boat. Just like any other boat you just have to manage the weight load you carry. I always make sure that I balance my tackle even as possible. I think you'll be very happy with it.
Have you had any problems with getting water in the hull inside the pontoons? I hear some people complain about this problem while others never mention it. My guess is the people who leave theirs outside and uncovered, or fish a lot in the rain end up with water in the hull because the seam where the boat joins together is not water tight. That`s the only place it could get in unless you knocked a hole in the bottom somewhere. How has this been for you?
I've heard those same things before but I honestly have never had that problem at all. I've gone over a year without even checking and just out of curiosity I finally checked it out only to see a couple of drops come out. Definitely leaving the boat uncovered in weather will cause that problem. Thanks for checking out my video. 👍🏾
dont worry about damaging your boat putting in a scupper hole I ve had mine since 2020 and have had no problems with the scupper hole thats on multiple youtube videos i was worried at first but have had absolutly no problems good luck
Thanks Ernest for sharing that with me. I'll definitely be keeping what you shared in mind. It definitely would be great to have one in my boat. Thanks for checking out my video. Tight lines 👍🏾
Hey, I appreciate your review! I was wondering about the transom flex. How bad is it?. I want a boat like that with an outboard, but my only drawback is the transom flex... any suggestions?
Hey Jett, if you go fishing and want to keep some fish do you have room to put a cooler in the boat? or does a small cooler fit inside comfortably? If not, what would you suggest to guys that want to keep some fish?
Great question farrest you can definitely take a decent size cooler with you aboard to keep your catch fresh. A 5 gallon bucket with a lid will work also. I've seen on Amazon these fold out livewell but I've not had a chance to test one of those out yet.
That's right they need to step up their game big time. Welcome to my channel hopefully you'll find fishing content you enjoy here. Thank you for your support. 👍🏾
@@fishingwithjett5373 you bet man! Doing this RUclips 'grind' for over a year now. WAY harder than I thought it would be but very satisfying. You've got some good stuff, I've gotcha on the Bell.
1. Transom is weak. 65 thrust flex’s it just as much as your outboard. 2. Wish there was another option, a foot wider and 12 foot long would be perfect. 3. It’s filled with cubbed foam instead of poured in foam.
Hello Jett I’m thinking of purchasing a bass raider is it big enough for 2big people and I see you fish alone but for someone who is disabled is it hard to load and unload from a truck
My brother and I both are 200lbs plus we fish on my raider with no problem. If you to are going to be bass fishing you'll definitely have to be mindful of another when each are making a cast. Yeah, you can't go wrong with using a trailer of some kind. Makes loading and unloading way easier. What type of fishing are you planning on doing?
@@fishingwithjett5373 mostly bass fishing I’m new to it but I real don’t know wat way to go about it bass raider or a Jon boat wat do you recommend please help me out I’m not sure which way to go I really don’t want to much maintenance it takes to get a Jon boat instill going to get a small motor to help move around
Happy New Year! Both options are excellent options for bass fishing. What are your concerns about both choices? For the absolute cheapest route the Bass Raider is the way to go. But if you're looking for best option for maximum amount of space inside the boat the Jon Boat is the way to go. I'll be honest I had to take a long look in person at the bass raider to visualize how I would use it. I'll definitely dedicate a video on this very topic.
@@ephraimgarcia7162if you haven't gotten a boat yet I'd definitely recommend of one these cheaper boats they are awesome and you can mod them to hell real fun to find new things to add/do with em. Plus with the price point you can't go wrong
To be legal on all state own bodies of water(Lakes & Rivers) yes, I had to register my boat. You don't have to register it if you're going to be fishing private water(Ponds). I live in S. Caroline those are our state laws each state laws may differ. So check out your local state laws for boats.
Thanks ,I live in Georgia and it says 16’ and mechanical powered. The boat is under that. Also in all the videos I don’t see the registration numbers on the sides on any video. Anyways good video and thanks.

bruh it's a pond bass raider, not a lake raider. you like that strong transom, get a 12-14 aluminum boat. that transom isn't really made for outboard motors, rather a 55lb thrust minnkota in my opinion.. you're probably better off with them 4 stroke china 52cc made outboard engines at the most.. lol

Excellent review. Thank you.
You're welcome, thanks for watching 👍🏾
Makes me want one even more now!
I think you'll really be happy with one SkunkMaster 👍🏾

If you havent done anything about the flex in the trason ive seen some guys add a steel plate and it helps spread the pressure and gets rid of the flex i plan on doing that once i pick up a gas motor
Okay I'll definitely look into doing that it's something on my bucket list to strengthen up mine. Thanks for watching👍🏾
Thanks for watching. I'll lookup the Bass Hunter specs for sho.
Great review and valid points. Thanks!
Appreciate it, Thanks for watching!👍🏾
Nice setup bro
Appreciate it, Thanks for checking out my Content 👍🏾
i second you on the drain plug and a light connection bud.. i have one and wish it a light connection and drain plug
Yeah they definitely have some areas to really make this lil boat even better. Here a link to my lil DIY on the light setup I use feel free to check it out ruclips.net/video/-wMrDoztJMo/видео.html Thank You for watching
I have a pelican bass raider rhino, it has battery box and live well built in boxes and is still pre wired like the 10E
Oh wow sounds like you got a very nice setup. Thanks for watching 👍🏾
Do you have any issues with flexing when you have the outboard at full speed? Did you do anything to strengthen the transom?
Although it flexes a lil more in the summer it's absolutely nothing to worry I've never had any problems with my outboard slipping. As far as strengthening the transom I've not done anything.
Thanks for the talk
You're welcome thanks for watching 👍🏾
Really appreciate the info sir. Thank you

Glad you found my content useful.
Nice video!! 1 question as you said you've been out in all types of weather... what do you do for stability on windy dayz?
As far as stability I don't do anything other than have my rudder attachment on my boat to reduce the boat spinning. Staying seated while the water is choppy is better than standing up. I hope I was able to help answer your question. The Pelican Bass Raider handles wind well.
@@fishingwithjett5373 "Rudder attachment".. Bingo!!👊🏿 Thnx!! I believe that info may be life-changing for me!! Thnx again!!
You're welcome, Bullnose make a really good rudder for trolling motor or pole.
Just came a cross this video. I like it. Question. Do you fish the boat with two adults and if so, performance, stability, etc?
Great review, I am now following you.

Hey, I appreciate your review! I was wondering about the transom flex. How bad is it?. I want a boat like that with an outboard, but my only drawback is the transom flex... any suggestions?
What horsepower outboard are you thinking about using on it?
@@fishingwithjett5373 between a 2 and 3.5
Hey Jett, if you go fishing and want to keep some fish do you have room to put a cooler in the boat? or does a small cooler fit inside comfortably? If not, what would you suggest to guys that want to keep some fish?
Great question farrest you can definitely take a decent size cooler with you aboard to keep your catch fresh. A 5 gallon bucket with a lid will work also. I've seen on Amazon these fold out livewell but I've not had a chance to test one of those out yet.
C'mon Pelican, beef up your drainage game! That's a great Video man. I kinda want one! New Sub from Indiana!!
That's right they need to step up their game big time. Welcome to my channel hopefully you'll find fishing content you enjoy here. Thank you for your support. 👍🏾

After having to dump the water out of my boat after a heavy rain i installed the drain plug mod, it was my first mod.
How's it working out for you so far? Thanks for watching 👍🏾
@@fishingwithjett5373 it's working out great, I highly recommend it.
Hey is that 150 lb with or without the seats? Thanks
Yes somewhere in that ball park range but fully loaded with gear and other people mods added the boat gets heavier.
1. Transom is weak. 65 thrust flex’s it just as much as your outboard. 2. Wish there was another option, a foot wider and 12 foot long would be perfect. 3. It’s filled with cubbed foam instead of poured in foam.
Those suggestions would definitely be a plus for this boat
I have the new seats and they are very comfortable
Okay cool I was wondering how they would hold up over time. They look very nice I thought about buying some but they are pretty pricey.
@@fishingwithjett5373 they definitely are a lil pricey but worth it
@@emperialmusicgroup yeah really it's kinda outrageous
Do you need to register the boat? Being 10’ was wondering.

Have you seen some mods on RUclips? I like adding a platform and live well.
Yeah I viewed a ton of modifications videos I'd love to add live well.
👍👍👍
bruh it's a pond bass raider, not a lake raider. you like that strong transom, get a 12-14 aluminum boat. that transom isn't really made for outboard motors, rather a 55lb thrust minnkota in my opinion.. you're probably better off with them 4 stroke china 52cc made outboard engines at the most.. lol
Oh okay cool. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏾
As far as width goes they can’t change it they want it to fit in a truck . Everything else I agree with
Yeah, I definitely see where you are coming from. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Go Catch'em 👍🏾
