This really puts Franicis' abilities into perspective. If you watch him throw his punches, he is doing it with set-feet, with almost NO "wind-up." Yet, he's hitting harder than a 400LB strong-man who is walking-up, nearly crow-hopping, to the target.
Frightening. A 260-280LB guy generating that kind of hand-speed.
in a way a similar argument is why I feel Carwin may actually have been a more powerful puncher in his prime then Ngannou is presently.
also Eddie's fist is sliding off the target which may be lowering his numbers
Eddie's problem is lack of flow in his punches. So much punching power comes from rotation and usage of legs, core, and shoulders. It's a reason why Tyson had so much power with a small frame. If Eddie learns to punch properly, he could break the record in my opinion

Francis only hit that thing a few times. He didn’t even break a sweat. I’m sure if he was to have as many attempts as this he would beat his own world record.
But Eddie was dehydrated
Edit: This comment was a joke but since y’all taking it seriously lets not forget the experience difference between the two. Francis uses his feet and hips to strike a powerful punch while Eddie uses forward momentum. If you know anything about boxing or mma you would know that your punching power comes from the lower body not the upper body and Eddie can be seen lifting his leg as he lunges forward greatly decreasing the power of the punch. The more mass the more power you have and Eddie has Francis beat in that department. With more experience and proper striking technique Eddie could give Francis a run for his money, he is a strong man after all.
Side note: Eddie is using proper boxing gloves while Francis was using mma gloves. The heavier the glove the harder it is to make power. It also has more cushion that absorbs the impact. Not to mention it tires you easily.

If Eddit had used Francis's technique, he would've scored higher. Running up does nothing. Your body's momentum is a negligible addition compared to the speed of the strike. 100% of boxing coaches will tell you that for the hardest power punches, to PLANT your feet. You can't/don't do that with a run up. Francis had the pad at the ideal height for him, and twisted with his punch to use the full power of his body right down to his well planted feet. Eddie doesn't know to do that because he isn't a veteran trained fighter. Eddie could have 1 day's instruction from a boxing coach on how best to hit that pad, and he would break 125k. I'd put $10k on it. Kinda irrelevant though, since the power of a single strike is meaningless unless you can land it as well as Francis. In a boxing match, Eddie would land that punch 0 times out of 30 on Francis. Which is fair enough because they are elites of different sports - combat vs strength. No shame there.
@@OrthodoxAtheist the fact he doesn’t know how to punch after a year of training. Lol, no doubt Eddie can bang you’re right but man he has no clue on how to be powerful

(Very well done for getting into tremendous shape and condition, and for having the courage to do it).
Eddie obviously can bang but Francis didn't do a run up he's just on a different level
Exactly
Actually think he loses power to run..most boxer use hips to create power not run up
That is the difference between a pro punch and an amateur punch. Just imagine Eddie's power with proper technique
If eddie plants and actually uses those core muscles to whip he will have power like few others, he needs to work on technique. His core is so much stronger. The dude pulled 500kg and held it. He needs to engage all that (he just does lnt know how in a fluid motion)
@@erikaliebenberg9317 come on.. you dont know much about fighting sport do you?

That, plus planting his right foot and pushing off the ground with the ball of his toe. That would increase the power at least 1.3x.
@@cygnusprime6728 I think also Ngannou used UFC gloves which should help with this machine. Those should have a smaller area of impact thus higher force.
@@bojanlackanovic1194 And faster punch
@@bojanlackanovic1194 yeah but the trade off with UFC gloves is you need to be more accurate and more careful because it's less cushion than a big chunky boxing glove. So yes you can theoretically get more power with a UFC glove since it's almost raw fist, but you can't be wild or reckless and you'd better have good form.
Are you guys joking? There are welterweights with boxing gloves NOT running to the machine and getting more than Eddie. This is legitimately impressive. Even though Eddie weighs about 90 pounds more than Francis, this sort of feat requires not just velocity but proper timing and general technique. No average man would be able to take full power hits like this, not even with gloves.
The scary part is that his technique is honestly crappy and because his technique is crappy, the timing basically doesn't matter. IF he learned how to punch right, he would obliterate the record easily and by a huge margin.
Eddie, if you read this, the goal of a good punch is to not only be backed by your own weight, but by the whole floor. You need the foot on the ground for that. Also maximum speed is achieved by adding up body rotation and arm movement with the correct timing.
You basically just swing your arm, which is still insanely powerfull, but not scary for a boxing opponent.
@@asdfxyz_randomname2133 he's been training for over a year for the Thor fight lol. Wtf are you talking about technique for?
@@nawazhemmuth8506 Anyone unbiased can say his technique was not great
The timing of your weight transition is the first key towards maximum power, so for you to say that timing doesn't matter devalues your opinion slightly. No, his general punching technique is not exactly world class. That overhand swing however, when done properly, is our most powerful punch. But you can't throw it how he throws it without a glove. So in reality, this would only be viable for a boxing opponent.

Basically Thor is going to try and be AJ in the Ruiz rematch, and Eddie is going to try and be Maidana in the Floyd first fight. If Eddie gets inside, then he will land with those slow and predictable power shots. Against a real heavyweight boxer ranked in the top... 50 at least, Eddie gets destroyed. @@TheHitman- wildr has power. Skills? No but he has power
@5:29 When Eddie punches, he pushes through his front foot but it doesn't look like his back foot is doing much other than being a weird counter weight. What would happen if he snapped his hips and pushed from his back foot and a little from his front? I know personally from punchbag training this has a much deeper impact, but no idea what that would look like in numbers. Seems like it's mainly Eddie's weight that is giving him his power, he could definitely go higher with better foot work.
Let's just hope he doesn't punch like that in the fight, or it will be a very short fight
If Thor was to sit there and take the punch, then yes it would be a short fight. But when doing a punch like this, look how long it takes from the start of the punch until it actually lands, it's easily enough time to move back or to the side and dodge the punch, so would you wouldn't be very successful doing punches like that in an actual fight unless your opponent was a complete moron. You'd also tire yourself out easily, look at the sweat eddie builds up after 50-60 punches and he's not even moving around a ring
@@henryginn7490 hahahah yes I meant it would be a short fight for Eddie after Thor knocks him out

I liked both, till I saw the video and how he acted during wsm.
Eddie is big, but compared to other competitors he had to try that little bit harder due to not being as tall and built for it.
I just think Eddie is doing alot more then what is shown, and thor is basically showing everything to Eddie.
Not long to go until Eddie knocks out thor

Thor has sparred much more dangerous guys than Eddie tbh. He’s now under 150kg, in ridiculous condition and has Billy Nelson in his corner, not looking good for Eddie.

Francis uses his body better, he puts his whole body behind that punch, many average guys hits just with their hands.
Eddie has so much mass it really helps him even with not that perfect technic.

A punch like that would literally never land
But if it did...
Maybe against a blind man lol

It might to against someone nicknamed the mountain lol Something that doesn't even move

I don't remember Francis taking any steps to throw his punch. Still, incredible strength but it would've been better if it was the same type of punch.
Absolutely spot on! Eddie is basically cheating. If Ngannou did what Eddie did, Ngannou would hit 160,000 units. Ngannou is a genetic freak.
That's true you also need to account for boxing vs mma gloves tho.
@UCFUYAv0plT4T5IhAhLqpCjQ yeah. This is all an efficiency problem.
Francis has the technique of many many years of punching as hard as possible.
They're both genetic freaks.
It's also entirely possible Eddie never throws a harder punch because it might become more defined by how fast you can move your arm than how much weight you can put into it. If Eddie is just that much bigger with shorter arms it might never be possible.
Eddie doesn't know how to punch. I'm sure he could go above 129.000 with some technique behind the punch.
He couldn't punch like that because the machine would've break.
Man it seems like he's been training for this boxing fight for 2 years. Everyone has boxed now since he's been training. This fight needs to happen already
Ngannou could easily double whatever Eddie is throwing if he used the same run up as Eddie.
Maybe not double but he could easily exceed it
Thats not how it works mate
Eddie swinging his arm like a Club 🤣
Eddie why can't you throw a proper punch yet mate though you'd been boxing training like a mad man for a year
Because syringes aren't boxing instructors.
Francis didn’t do a 3 step walk up when he did his punch😂 If Eddie threw the exact same punch as Francis without getting a walk up he wouldn’t be close, I feel like this is more to feed his ego then anything jmo
Right and his fanboys would follow it lol
Yeah man, the ego is insane.
I think he actually said that in order to achieve what he have now is because of that mentality, it may have some plus and minus if it work for him and not hurting anyone I think its actually fine
I think that if he used his hips to throw the punches he would actually have a higher score. Doing a walk up doesnt really increase the power of the punch. The part about feeding the ego is correct tho.
@@incor3480 yes it does. Of course his hips would generate more power but a moving object with his weight behind it will increase the power as well. It is physics
Eddie is incredibly strong. Creating that much force with little to no technique.
He does deadlift 1100lbs and bench like 660😂
You need to bring it in tighter to your body, and resist throwing your arm back. When it passes the shoulder, it slows down because you have to rotate the shoulder, and move around your own body to deliver the punch. It seems strong, but all you're doing is accelerating your fist to deliver the punch, rather than putting your body into it.
You'll notice Francis is bunched up tight when he hits. He telegraphs less, and his body mass is moving into the punch. His punch is delivered near parallel to his chest when he's finished; while initial contact would have been slightly ahead, before his body mass followed, tucking his arm and fist into his side as the body moves right in behind the punch.
Not that I would suggest trying to hit anyone that hard. Faster, less powerful jabs are still going to hit damn hard.
Eddie, this guy legit knows what hes talking about. I hope you see it.

This is awesome! You are the boss, Eddie! As a former MMA coach, I am sure you can get the number much higher if you focus on your technique, especially your footwork. Are you getting into MMA or boxing?
Eddie’s strength would lend itself better to grappling but that would take a long time to learn. Teach him to use the George Foreman cross guard for striking like DC did.

If you are a well trained athlete then you start to sweat pretty fast but also recover fast.
I assume you never trained boxing in your life. When I was younger I was a well trained average athlete and could easily run 20-24km. But that was easy compared to punch non stop. To get a higher score, the pad should actually be lower because you can add more kinetic force throwing a punch downwards than you can upwards. This was proven on your higher scores when your overhand dipped in at the last second.
