    Yep I will soon have my 1991 jd 420 repowered and ready for another 15 years of hard work currently has over 7000 hours of it John Deere sure made some very good Machines

      I had an early 420 once, like an '83, with a P220, couldn't figure it out, but one of the forum members checked and it was a 1996 replacement engine. Ran good, I should have kept it.

    Great video I just got a 1023e and love it. I'm going to mention you in my RUclips video if you don't mind

      I appreciate that man, both the kind words and you giving me a shout out. I love when people comment on this video, it reminds me to do this basic maintenance😂. I had separated "basic" from "scheduled", the hours keep me on the scheduled very tight, but the things I mention in here often get overlooked. Thanks again for watching.

    Thanks, brother, I appreciate this video! I'm learning how to maintain my 1023E and this will help me a lot. Blessings!

      Thanks, I am happy I could help. I have another two videos on scheduled maintenance, but this one is just for the basic, almost everyday easy stuff we often forget to do. Thanks for watching and hope to hear from you again.

      I try to keep it clean enough, doesn't always get this clean, but I try not to put it away wet and dirty. Thanks for watching.

    I was hoping to catch you mentioning what type of engine radiator fluid can be used as substitute for the John Deere fluid mentioned in the manuals given with the tractor when new. I was not given a supply of radiator coolant with the new 1023E. Why, I don’t know, because I have always had to end up adding coolant to maintain the proper level in any equipment that has a radiator .

    • @FloridaDeere
      @FloridaDeere  3 года назад +1

      Yeah I use the Deere stuff. While I am not always sold on the OEM stuff because the OEM is usually not the real OEM making it. Anyway onto your issue. I don't want to tell you to not top off, but I have found on both the 1023E and the 322 if I fill to what it says, the excess drops off on the deck or the floor, once it's done, it doesn't drip anymore and still seems to have a level or close to level amount. So it's like they almost tell you (in my case anyway) that the true amount is too much. Thanks for watching.

    Hi! John Deere sells a hydraulic fluid dye so you can see it easier.

    I foam filled tires. No flats ever, but no changing tire on rim.

      Yes Barbara, it's an odd mechanism in my opinion, but I guess the Deere engineers thought it was cool. Thanks for watching.

      Yep, I did miss that as a basic check, I do cover it on the scheduled maintenance video though, Part 2 video. Thanks for watching.

    I noticed you hooking up rear three point control arm is that on a newer 1023e. Or did you add that. My 1023E don’t have one I would luv to add if possible. Thx for vid I noticed I have been missing a few grease point!

      If you are talking about the hydraulic top link at the beginning of the video, that is an upgrade for sure and one that I would recommend any serious tractor buyer to purchase and install. The top link was too bad, $130 maybe, but adding the hydraulic kit did set me back about $600+ or so, but I would say it's one of the best upgrades I have done in my almost 3 years of ownership. The kit is BLV11217, but Summit hydraulics also make a few kits that may offer more outlets of be cheaper. However, the Deere OEM kit listed here does look like it's supposed to be on the tractor. Very clean. Thanks for watching.

      @@FloridaDeere thx for reply if I don’t trade it in I’ll look into it. I just bought another 22 acres that adjoins my house and lil Hos (1023E) has all it can handle!!! But it’s paid for! Again thx for reply

      @@dwaynelejeune3508 Sounds like the best excuse I've heard lately to get a 3039R🤣....BUT paid for is priceless, so there's that.

    1023/1025 have a engine to trans driveshaft. Hard to see has zircs, easy to forget.

      Yeah, some are definitely a bigger pain in the butt than others, probably leaving many under-maintained. Thanks for watching.

    Do you charge your own oil and other fluids

    • @FloridaDeere
      @FloridaDeere  2 года назад

      Absolutely, I wouldn't have it any other way, same with my autos. Places can do it now near as cheap as I can, but I'd have to take the tractor or vehicle in and no one will love my equipment as much as I do, so that's a huge factor. Thanks for watching.

    Air filter

    • @FloridaDeere
      @FloridaDeere  2 года назад

      Yeah, I had that on scheduled maintenance, but you are right, really that and the in-line fuel filter need to be checked on a more regular basis. Thanks for watching.
