Thank you so much for your work on this. I got the zv1 as a walk around camera and this makes the look so much more seamless with my Xt4. It’s making me consider using even more Sony in the future. I subscribed to the film simulations on your website. Great work. Cheers!
You're an absolute hero. Post a Venmo and I'll gladly donate. My X-T2 is having shutter problems and I was also unhappy with the limited tweak settings Fuji actually gives in spite of all the hype. Bro, I'm a deep of your SOOC Sony recipes for Portra 800 and Blue Velvet simulations. Me and my ZV-1 are loving it heartful. However, Cine 3 is absent in ZV-1 thus I miss the Senova light simulation. As a big fan, I'm requesting you to make a film simulation recipe for Sony mimicking Ricoh GR positive film.
You can try cine 2 instead of cine3, lower contrast but smoother gradations. Interesting film suggestion, ricoh gr. Definitely a challenge but will try out! Thanks
Check out the 8mm Home Film Power grades on my website to get the same colors. I use Samyang 14mm f2.8, tamron 28-75 f2.8, sigma 24mm f2, also used samyang 35mm 1.4 manual lens in past videos. I also have the 85mm f1.8 from sony but not a big fan of it besides portraits. Lately i like the sigma very much, it's a new purchase, and i've already made a video taking street photos with it and it's coming next month. Lovely lens
this is awesome stuff. Was wondering if you have some introductory courses/vids on coloring to see how you come to these conclusions. Also, is there a particular reason as to why you use davinci over premiere? Keep up the good work!
I hold online courses for color grading, or how to shoot film simulation, in these courses i also explain characteristics of each color mode and black gamma, find them on my website at Services, you can go check out available dates. The reason why I use Davinci, it's because it has more refined tool for color grading, tried color grading in premiere, but it's harder without some of the tools davinci has
@@veresdenialex will definitely check those out! Can’t wait for your next vid man. Last question: do you prefer using color profiles on camera or grading raw images/log video footage? You can match an x-rite color checker for a single illuminant, but as soon as you start shooting in real life, which involves multiple different illuminants everything goes haywire.
can you explain your idea? If both cameras were taken on a different scene, with different lighting, why would they look completely different from one another?
Ok, I think I understand what you mean. Even if you have multiple light sources, or you change scenes dramatically (interior ->exterior), Setting the White Balance will sort it out, and that's very simple and something you need to learn. You can also do it in post and that will balance out the colors, but it's better out of camera. After years of experience I can set perfect white balance only by looking at the image, but just to be sure, you can easily check with the 'White Balance Custom Setup' which will analyze the scene and show you the exact settings for perfect white balance. or even much easier for leisure photos, choose AWB:White Priority and let the camera decide for you. Not recommended for video since it will continuously changed the settings according to the lighting outside. One thing it's true, if you set 2 different cameras at 5500Kelvin, they won't look the same, one might look warmer than the other, which is the case with Fuji & Sony. Because Sony is predominantly Warmer than Fuji. So as a rule of thumb to get the same colors as Fuji, you have to set Sony 500-1000 Kelvin bellow normal temperature, to cool down the scene and get perfect white balance.
@@veresdenialex color profiles are independent of WB, that's why the automatic profiling tools don't require setting WB. But they are dependent on illuminants, which means you need to create a different profile for different illuminants, and when you have multiple light sources in the scene you cannot match profiles no matter what.
