I am studying this cat to the damn best of my ability .. He swings like no other player today .. As one who followed Zoot , Benny and Getz this guy picked up where Brecher left off and i am trying my damn-est to copy his style at 85 yrs old .. bobby G.
Dang, I am an uber driver in portland and always hype up the 1905. Had I but known you were playing I definitely would have taken the night off to see you. You're a legend in the making! Keep up the great videos and the amazing content.
Perfect solo by Randy Porter, who I became a huge fan of back in the day when he was faculty Stanford Jazz Workshop. Shout out from Liz Cole and her dad!
Chad is very good for sure. I fortunately have a dear close friend who is the baddest in the land. Breaker was his mentor and close friend. Ed Calle. Dr. Ed Calle multiple Grammy winner. I'd like to see them both fight it out. He can play any scene but is, more accepted in Latin jazz arena.
It’s a prototype nexus 1. We don’t know much about, he and jack finnucane have been working on it for some time now. They aren’t available on the market right now
Another wonderful performance. I've given up on ways to compliment your playing Chad, but please tell me what the mouthpiece is that you are using here. Not using the SYOS anymore?
The piano while Chad's solo was sooo lacking of..... everything. And then, I agree, the piano solo was so cold, planed and patern based. A missed opportunity to have Chad playing this song at a 💯 %. His level of plaing was well above the rest.
So, I then I didn't understand what you meant as English is not my first language. But I still think Chad struggled to make the band be up to his standard and, actually, his enthusiasm while playing this iconic song. Few dare to play it as it is always compared with Art Blake's version and therefore most attemps are not successful. In any case Chad's alone made the whole thing work pretty well. He is a master.

👍
Keep on!
Randy Porter, Piano
Alan Jones, Drums
Patrick Golichnik, Bass
I think this was the early show. I saw the late show and it was FANTASTIC.
It takes a special kind of legend to get Steve Jobs as your drummer. Respect.
Pianist really developed his solo as did Chad!
That’s our very own legend, Randy Porter
I love how chad really winds it up as a blues in the jazz context should!
Wut 🧐
...impossible not to remember Lee Morgan's incredible solo, whenever I listen to this song it happens ... very good Chad
THUMBS WAY UP, BRO---REMEMBERING LEE'S SOLO! That solo is considered by some to be one of the top ten trumpets solos of all time! Chad burns it up!
Chad as always shows himself to be one of the best Tenors on the planet but what a great piano solo! Great pacing, touch, feel and boy does it swing.
Vintage sound with Brecker chops. Glad Jazz is set for another generation
Art Blakey and Bobby Timmons are smiling, beaming proud of you Chad and Co., from wherever they are 👍🏾
I feel like the piano solo in the middle doesn’t get enough credit, phrasing is quite immaculate ❤
I'm glad the drummer went for it!

Guy in the front row is really enjoying his spaghetti and Jazz
As the guy up there in the front row eating spaghetti and listening to jazz...I could say it was a pleasant experience
@@maxcullen3160 I'm the chef who prepared the spaghetti. Now tell me, which was better?
@asdfasd thats a close one, both were smackin

Omg!! There some amazing out there, but Chad is a beast ❤… WOW 🤩.
Very beatifull piano improvisation!
OK, we on it now. Play it errrybody!!!!!!!!
Bro... they are all outstanding, but in my opinion, this is the best live performance I've seen you post on your channel. Well played, Sir! 🍸
Your pianist is vibin! Awesome
Randy Porter is a Portland treasure.
Never before heard anything to rival the Art Blakey original, but this definitely comes close. A superb swinging performance!
My man is good looking and can honk the horn. Living my dream ❤
Man, everyone's going hard!!
Great 😊😊👌 👌👌 performance of a number associated with Bobby Timmons.
That sound as husky as Gene Ammons here! Wow Chad. Loving the sound here. Killin’. Swingin’.
That was fantastic!! Been listening to the original for over 40 years. Just plain Loved it. Excellent!! Thanks guys.
Love this performance ❤️

Too bad he decided to look like a bitch while doing it
What?
@@Karll541 what are you talking about
@@hincapiej4 why should I explain anything to someone who’s too dumb to understand?
Loving the sound of your new setup
Sounds awesome; almost like Red Prysock on speed….love it!!!!!!

Chad's solo is a great homage to Lee Morgan's solo on the original recording!

Чад ты лучший !
piano and bass players in love with their stank breath

I want to be able to take photos like this too.
Wowwwwwwww!!!
4:14 the startup music for that spaceship game at the arcade
Heavy, heavy swing.
Nice
Ah that's nice.
Fucking amazing
When are you gonna come out to salt lake? I’d love to see you perform live
Art Blakey would be pleased.
Piano solo quotes Benny Golson’s solo opener.
🔥🔥🔥
Tbh i was expecting the mingus moanin
mingus moanin is the kind of tune that's very difficult to do justice without a big band
@@dishwasherdetergent3366 specifically a bid band with a bari sax lead loll
@@dishwasherdetergent3366 I think a septet of rhythm section alto, trombone, bari and maybe a trumpet or a tenor could get it done for sure though
@@insaneevillogan definitely keep the trumpet in there. gotta have those big screams
There are a lot of players of a horn , very few masters of a horn.
😱💥🎷
It's interesting. I feel like this new mouthpiece makes his playing way more clear. Or is that just me?
I feel it forced...

I want to see Chad play one day, but I live in the UK :(
Thank you! :) Have played the U.K. a few times, we’ll be back in 2022 for sure!

Was this Portland, Oregon? If so, I missed out!
On a Sunday night!
Me too! And I even have a friend at the 1905 so I shoulda known. Just flew right under my radar, only a couple miles away wow 😨
Yeah, you can tell because of the air restriction devices over their breathing holes.
Who could we say is the alto equivalent of Chad?
Patrick Bartley
Di I hear some inspiration from Sonny R. ?
Not you Chad. You are so good you can be forgiveness for an6 woke beliefs. Let's keep it music. Man you killed it on this tune.
SWINGIN’!!!!
no mingus
Yeah this is Bobby Timmons’ Moanin
that piano solo was absolutely disgusting
for realllll

And then, I agree, the piano solo was so cold, planed and patern based.

Good drummer and an inexperienced base player.
Ok wish Chad will play this one again with the right band
@@abogatum I think that @Shane Guasteferro and I meant that the piano solo was fantastic when we said "absolutely disgusting"

About as good as this tune can be without a honking bari.
