I personally like this part of the Assassin's Creed lore. It's got its charm. Only down side is how slow the plot is moving. It makes all the present day stuff seem like pointless fluff.
I agree maybe what they should do with assassin Creed this once they're finished doing the main line assassin Creed is to do a spin-off that focuses on this modern Day stuff and move forward in that direction.

I've only experienced the first modern day section but I spent a long time there casually looking through the QR codes. Just feels like a nice place, but maybe that's cos I've been locked down in the same building since March...
I don#t share any of the hard feelings towards quarantine and I still agree that the place is cozy. Abstergo might be the bad guys, but I do like their offices!

Not to mention the inflation and rent are insane these days. That room looks decent. Nicely renovated, air-conditioned, electricity, hot water, and a clean bathroom with toilet. Probably free meals too.

Either this was planned ahead or they just said “Hey remember that Oliver guy from Black Flag that disappeared heading to Chicago? Yeah let’s just have Aiden kill him in Watch Dogs as an Easter egg or some shit”.
This was the only AC game where i looked forward to the present day sections. Melanie's voice was so friendly I could listen to her read a dictionary; was also fun to look at her ass while following her to different places. And the Abstergo office!! If that is a real place, I would do pretty much anything to work there.
It's the best modern day in the entire series. On a meta-level, it is ironic to recreate your own office in a video game and make it part of a video game, where it is part of an evil corporation. A good jab at the practices of video game industry itself. Sadly since then the games haven't had quite the same edge and charm.
I think the cutscene at 30:12 is really underrated You've just finished hunting down Woodes Rogers as Kenway, then you see him starijg right back at you in the modern day.
You know, considering that we see featureless protagonists working for Abstergo from IV until Syndicate I think they are in fact Layla Hassan considering that she was part of the company and she knows quite a bit about the Assassins.
The last amazing Abstergo game with the present timeline actually important. Unity was OK but it was a nothing-plot. Origins, Odyssey are practically retcons, and now Valhalla. God knows what Valhalla will actually bring to the table. Whatever happened to the ongoing war of the Assassin’s and Templars? Like, that’s what AC is rooted in. I don’t care if this side of the game is boring to some, it’s mysterious! I want to know more! Here’s hoping Ubisoft does something unique.

Probably because you play as a no name, voiceless character that we never ever see the face of. Before 4 we had Desmond, an actual character, and then Layla from Origins onwards.
We play as a character with no identity or face. Playing as those types of characters are boring since the person has no origin and their is little known about them. They could have made a new character
God, I hate the present day parts so much. This is the only thing that took me out of the ac franchise. The fact that it constantly interrupts your fun and sucks you back into the real world. Seriously, ac 2 was awesome, but it constantly sucked you out of the immersion and forces to to slog around in the boring present day.

I never enjoyed this modern day stuff, even back in the Ezio games. I just tolerated it, I suppose. But it does get worse in Black Flag, Rogue, Unity and Syndicate (I've heard). In my opinion, it gets a little bit better in Origins and Odyssey, probably because there's so little of it and we have an actual character to play as.

Probably because you play as a no name, voiceless character that we never ever see the face of. Before 4 we had Desmond, an actual character, and then Layla from Origins onwards.
We play as a character with no identity or face. Playing as those types of characters are boring since the person has no origin and their is little known about them.
They could have made a new character

God, I hate the present day parts so much. This is the only thing that took me out of the ac franchise. The fact that it constantly interrupts your fun and sucks you back into the real world. Seriously, ac 2 was awesome, but it constantly sucked you out of the immersion and forces to to slog around in the boring present day.

The concept of these games are great, but I don't want to slog through a boring intro, and a long while of trailing missions. Seriously, the core gameplay loop may be fun, but having to slog through the boring intros aren't. I'm not a kid by the way. My opinion is just different from yours, deal with it.

I really hate this part of the game, completely ruins black flag. I want to be a pirate. I don't want to be in the "real world" every time I play this game, these parts ruin the experience, and somehow I forget about it every time. So annoying.

Redfall Xenos yea, I’ve sorta become a semi fan now, but the whole simulation shit still kinda gets in the way for me. Only time I didn’t mind it was in ACII
I never enjoyed this modern day stuff, even back in the Ezio games. I just tolerated it, I suppose.
But it does get worse in Black Flag, Rogue, Unity and Syndicate (I've heard).
In my opinion, it gets a little bit better in Origins and Odyssey, probably because there's so little of it and we have an actual character to play as.
