I got away with telling myself I didn't NEEEEEEEED a mini heat press for all this time. Well. . . I'm loving this busted canvas thing so I'm about to cave now. haha. Great tutorial. I'm excited to give this a try for all the holidays!
Your busted canvas was adorable and you made it look so easy. I like to decoupage with napkins. It looks great and is less expensive than paper. Thanks for the website information. 😊
I have a craft fair in 2 weeks -- have to get going on this very cute idea! I've done canvas cubes that are 6"x6" and 1.5" deep with napkin art for a number of holidays. Loved how they turned out, and working with the napkins is quite easy. Now I have a technique to use up some of those napkins I collected previously!!
Oh my goodness! I have not seen these before. These are so amazingly cute!!! Love them! I will definitely, have to add these to my list of projects to make. Thank you for this tutorial 💕
Question: do you have to use a craft iron to decoupage the paper in place? you are this first person I have seen use it. Thanks for this tutorial - can’t wait to try!
It’s the easiest way, but you can decopauge with it wet. I tend to get more wrinkles doing it that way, because if you get too much of the glue it can become a mess.
You can do whatever you want as far as pattern. I usually put two together and see if I like the combo. When doing the back the thinner the paper (or using a napkin) is easier to work with. The canvas I put paper on both sides I had to hot glue the back in a couple of places.
Great video! Regarding the inside paper... Can you use Xmas/birthday wrapping paper for this? Also, can regular mod podge replace the main glue you use? UK based so looking for supplies whilst watching 😊
Yes, it took a little more glue to stick well, and it didn't work as well when I put it on the back side, I had to hot glue it down in a few spots, but it was still doable.
Can’t wait to try this!! So cute! I have plenty of napkins and pattern paper. Does it make a difference or matter what kind of thickness of the pattern paper?
The pattern paper I used was 80 lb. When it’s thicker like that it will require more decoupage The snowman where I used pattern paper on both sides the paper started coming up from the backside when I curled it. But some hot glue fixed that problem. Basically the thinner the better, but thicker paper is doable
Once the piece that will be the rolled paper is applied to the back…is it an absolute must to apply another coat of mod podge over it? Reason I’m asking is that I found with all the mod podge it makes it too thick and hard to keep them rolled once hot glued🤷🏼♀️
Here's where you find napkins for decopauge decoupagenapkins.com/ And here's my Amazon shopping list amzn.to/4frzE4Y Happy Crafting!

Family photos would be too cute!😊
Yes they would!
@@DailyDoseofDIY would you just print family picture on photo paper and mod podge it onto the board?
I love to decoupage
Me too!
Great tutorial. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
This is sooooo cute!!
love this idea!!!
Is it ok to use wrapping paper?
oh these are so cute tfs hugs
Love this

Awesome.❤ Greetings
Have you thought about putting miniature lights between the canvas and picture?
Oh that's a great idea! I'm going to give it a try with a Fall themed one I'm making next
best video for busted canvas---is there a rule of thumb plain paper in front and design in back or visa versa--or what ever you want???
You can do whatever you want as far as pattern. I usually put two together and see if I like the combo. When doing the back the thinner the paper (or using a napkin) is easier to work with. The canvas I put paper on both sides I had to hot glue the back in a couple of places.
What size is the flat board?
Is Deco podge the same as mod podge
Hi I love your tutorial but I have a question can you tell me if you used cocktail napkins or dinner napkins i'll be doing 8x8 canvas? thank you
Dinner napkins would be best, but I’ve used both.
This was adorable and not nearly as daunting as I thought it would be. Could I use Mod Podge instead of the Decoupage Glue?
Yes, that will work too!
What size napkins do you use for the front and back?
whoops! Just saw you answered that!
Great video! Regarding the inside paper... Can you use Xmas/birthday wrapping paper for this? Also, can regular mod podge replace the main glue you use? UK based so looking for supplies whilst watching 😊
I think wrapping paper would work great! The thinner it is, the easier it will be to do. That’s a good idea! And yes mod podge will work as well.
Is the red paper a scrapbook weight paper?
Yes, it took a little more glue to stick well, and it didn't work as well when I put it on the back side, I had to hot glue it down in a few spots, but it was still doable.
Does the decapod adhesive get sticky when you get it hit with the iron? Is that how it sticks?
Yes and no, it doesn’t become liquid sticky again but it bonds to the napkin or paper
I love this! Can lightweight paper (say 28 lb) be used instead of the napkins? And would you still use the mini press? I can't wait to try it.
Yes absolutely! The chicken one I made was with rice paper. I’m not sure the weight on that one but it is super light
Is the white paint acrylic paint?
Yes it is
Can you put a photo in the frame
Yes that’s a great idea!
Love it where do you get that wood board ? Chip board ?
It's Cricut Brand Chipboard, you can find it on amazon on most craft stores
Can’t wait to try this!! So cute! I have plenty of napkins and pattern paper. Does it make a difference or matter what kind of thickness of the pattern paper?
The pattern paper I used was 80 lb. When it’s thicker like that it will require more decoupage
The snowman where I used pattern paper on both sides the paper started coming up from the backside when I curled it. But some hot glue fixed that problem. Basically the thinner the better, but thicker paper is doable
Thanks for that information.
Once the piece that will be the rolled paper is applied to the back…is it an absolute must to apply another coat of mod podge over it?
Reason I’m asking is that I found with all the mod podge it makes it too thick and hard to keep them rolled once hot glued🤷🏼♀️
No I didn't add another coat over the paper on the back. It still is harder to do with paper on the back vs a napkin, but it's possible
What size napkins??
The truck was a cocktail napkin, the snowman was lunch size, Either size wil work depending on the design,
#replay Texas
I tried to Sprinkle but it couldn't find an "image" to share
how did you put the picture on
It’s in the video, I used decopauge and a mini heat press
Thank you I found it
🎄🛻
I don't have a circuit.....
You can make this one without a Cricut 🙌🎉
You can definitely make this without one!
Is Deco podge the same as mod podge
It’s very similar and you can use mod podge in its place
