Watching those kids see snow reminded me of a chap that had come from Sierra Leone to Canada and the look on his face seeing that first fall in winter was unforgettable. Then he was told "you ain't seen nothing yet"
Welcome to our weather. Cannot believe the snow went that far South. The folks in Florida must be in shock. Glad the hand is getting better, don't over do it. We recently received 11 inches now frozen in place with near "0" temperatures. The good news, it will be a good garden year do to the nitrogen added to the soil and elimination of ground varmints. Stay warm!
I'm just East of Atlanta (near Stone Mountain) and we got about 3" here. I agree with you about the snow/freezing rain/ice/remelt/refreeze thing! People up North don't realize just how much of a difference it makes! Like you said, when it does this the Natives stay in and let everybody else slide around. On the news earlier they said we've already beaten our yearly average and January isn't over yet! I follow another RUclipsr in Pensacola and he got 6" to 8" there! I did that 220V pigtail trick for my Air Compressor about 45 years ago but what *I* did was put the compressor in a little room off my garage where my clothes dryer lives. I unplug the 220V Dryer and plug in the compressor when I need it, then plug the dryer back in. That way there's no way the compressor can kick on while the dryer's running and pop the 30 Amp Circuit Breakers!
Great to see you healing so fast! Answered prayers are awesomeness Extreme! Toys sure are fun. Thanks Keith for sharing your personal life with us. Very cool seeing the kids playing in the snow making snowmen and angels.
I hope Ginger is inside where its warm. As someone from the DEEP South, living in the far north.... yeah, lately we been getting my home town, Mobile Alabama's weather. Y'all got way more snow than we did. No worries, just you wait, summer will be along shortly and I got this feeling Nature is gonna make up for that deep cold with a high heat.
Here in the frozen north (Ottawa,.Ontario Canada) we actually do get icy roads, not just powder snow sitting on dry asphalt. BUT we also have snow tires, and salt/plow trucks. And we get too many snowy days for everyone to just stay home 🤷♂️
O grew i[ om Wisconsin. Most people don't know that the American Midwest has the same climate as Siberia. Look at a world map or a globe and you'll see the two places are geographically similar. There's a mountain range to the west (Urals and Rockies) and nothing but flat all the way to the North Pole. The major geographical difference is that all the rivers in Siberia flow north to the Arctic Ocean while the Mississippi River system flows south to the Gulf of Mexico. That allows cheap and easy transportation throughout the Midwest.
Keith, glad to see you enjoying the snow while it lasts. We have had snow on the ground here in southern Indiana for a couple of weeks, we are tired of it and hope it will melt over the weekend. Take care of yourself, no falls on ice.
I'm a retread out of Chicago myself, got here just north of New Bern forty years ago, I got here in 77, next day said "this is where I retire" love N.C. for the people and the culture.
Need a nice hill and some snow sleds! At least inner tubes. ;-) Building snowmen and such is absolutely worthy. Well done. Killer new oven. My goodness what an upgrade! Looking forward to seeing some jobs. Not everything needs to be published on video. We do appreciate it though.
Watching you from Long Island N.Y. For a long time , great channel and you always do fantastic work , the snow is a joke ! LOL we get at times 18”-25 “ of snow and yes we have snow removal, LOL feel better with your hand ! Be careful!
Lol! Last week we had -36C, which is -32 F...lol, and snow on the ground since November!. I am overjoyed to see children (and the odd adult) play in the beautiful "compactable" snow!
HA! I love that snowman. My first reaction was to do the exact same thing but I only had enough for a handsized one. Glad to hear yall are all doing good in the crazy weather.
They sure do a nice job on those ovens. Thanks sharing Keith. Southern California. Could sure use some of that snow right now. Good to see you’re healing up quickly. ATB……
Snow must a helluva lot worse when it's an exceptionally rare occurrence. I had never considered that it would melt when it hits the warm ground so that the entire bottom layer turns to ice. Your cat is certainly looking chagrined. Be glad it won't last long! -- Yours from Canada.
Cracking me up on the snow. I know it's not common, and I know for you folks that's a show stopper for most people. Think about Adam Booth...I think they ended up with 7"! LOL. For me? Dusting, but I 100% get it for you, done there you don't have the equipment to remove that stuff. As for driving on Ice? Spent 30 years driving on ice, snow, slush. All you have to do is NOT be 'that guy'. Unfortunately there are WAY too many of "those guys". LOL.
Happy to hear your hand is recovering well. Stay safe in the snow. There once again appears to be a few minutes of black-screen on the end of the video; about 5 minutes this time.
Awesome video! I like that Oven! I have seen you use your 360 Oven! I’m happy that your Injury is better! By the way I’m in Minnesota and we have had very cold weather but no snow! Take care!😊
I live in Upstate NY. We are very used to ice and snow during the winter and often have storms very similar to what you just had. The big difference is that we have the equipment to deal with it on our roads. We have fleets of heavy snow plows that can push through just about any amount of snow. We also have very large stockpiles of salt and sand that are dispensed on the roads to melt the ice. the side effect of this is that our vehicles tend to rust out from salt corrosion within about 5 years. In the late winter/early spring we have freeze/thaw cycles that tend to break apart our roadways leaving potholes the size of moon craters everywhere which will destroy the suspension under a vehicle.
Northerners also have the right clothes to wear, good boots, gloves, Carhart bibs or coveralls, flannel shirts, it just goes on and on. The cold and snow is fun when you’re younger but you grow out of that in the older years of life. Lol
i live in the UK. our winters (further north than you) are strangely less severe than yours (gulf steam benefit) we also use salt heavily during the winter to clear the roads, i however live about 60 yds from the North Sea., (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whitley_Bay) and every motor ive ever owned has been destroyed by rot within 3 years! i feel your pain!
on page one of the photos ... i live in the building directly in the centre. to the left of the image , a ,man made platform (redundant old sewage pipe 1930s) has a human figure on it. THATS ME!!! fishing. (or it could be ... chuckle)
Hello Keith, You really didn't need the adapter. If you just changed the cord end on the oven to a 3-phase 20amp plug, connect the ovens leads to the two hot phases, even if the phase converter was inadvertently turned on the third phase would go nowhere as there isn't anything connected to it inside the plug end. Glad to see you are healing up quickly!
Hey Keith I just picked up a hot shot 360 with the tap controller yesterday 1/24/25. I was able to pick mine up on my way home right from there warehouse. I found one of their scratch and dent so was not able to use your code, sorry. I was surprised to see your video this Saturday morning 1/25. I still need to burn mine in so was glad to watch your video in such a timely fashion. Enjoying many of your videos lately since you've "retired". Greg T
I have a new HS1200 with TAP controller and I love it. On the stand, I'm glad I also ordered the two shelf stand. I don't think the stand will be very sturdy with only a single shelf. The legs twist a little even with the middle shelf.
Kieth, first I'm really glad your hand is healing up nicely! I recently severed the tendons in my index finger and I'm gonna be in a splint until April! Second, I wish I realized that you have a code for American Rotary, I just bought a 20 HP phase converter from them. Darn!
I also agree. From the South means you know there is almost no chance of a snow plow or salt truck. Slippery icy roads are likely. Non Southerners may have an unrealistic expectation of road conditions based on their personal experience in other areas. But, most people are fast learners.
What's almost unheard of up here in western Wisconsin: we've had almost no snow this winter, and what we've had has melted almost like we were down south. We had rain during months when that's also not at all common. We have had some mighty cold nights, though!
As I told my Mother-in-law a couple of months ago - if we get snow, and you're not sure, stay home. I've been doing this for 50 years, and I can drive through nearly anything. I stay home when I don't have to drive. In the 80s I was at Fort Bragg and had a snowstorm. I had a good time driving in it, but I knew what I was doing. Plenty of folks in the ditches. You're smarter to stay home if you can.
Be very careful in that ice there Keith. Don't want you breaking anything else! And a very rare look into life outside the workshop and associated times.
Crazy times indeed, I'm in middle Sweden where there is no snow at all now. January is normally the coldest month here but we have above freezing nearly this whole month, and that is really not normal. Something weird is going on.
Don't know if this helps, but this is a well-known phenomenon in climate science. Basically, the polar regions are getting warmer much faster than the mid latitudes. This means that a cold arctic blast will be able to move further south before it spins up into a storm. If the air is spinning around in a storm, it is no longer moving north or south. For more, look up "WACC Pattern" or "warm arctic, cold continent". Be careful and stay healthy, everyone!
I have the HS1200 oven and can’t say enough good things about it. If you feel you’re burning through too much argon you can look into the cheaper nitrogen as a shielding gas. Stay warm!
Suggestion... Use the port towards the back of the oven, not the front port. If it protrudes into the usable space then having it toward the back of the oven will avoid interfering with something large at the front of the oven.
We've had about 24" in the last month here in the Black Hills. This is why we all have traction tires and 4 wheel drive. Without those the ice makes it impossible.
Ah to be young again... When the WNY Cold never seemed to an issue, we ran around all winter without gloves in wet shoes and open jackets when there was 4 to 5 feet of snow on the ground without a care in the world. 😂
I got a human powered snow plow (a blade with wheels and an adjustable handle) after the last snow in western NC. You have to scrape the snow off before it gets a chance to freeze.
Parts of the Florida Pan Handle had upwards of 9 to 11 inches. Pind a Pizza stone for the top shelf so when You take stuff out you have a place to set Your heated piece.
At least you do not have the wind we have to contend with in Wyoming. We have wind gust of up to 60 mph, common for my area but combine the with any snow and it gets dangerous.
Interesting that the opening screen on the display warns you to "Never operate unattended", yet they supply you with the app that works anywhere. :) Hope the hand gets back to normal soon. It wouldn't be a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday morning without you !
We'll start by facing off the bottom of the snowman segment and chamfering the top edge. I want a final outside dimension of the lower segment of to be 24 inches. I plan the finishing layer to be .5 to 1 inch per revolutions in the snow.
What was that four minutes of black screen? Oops, more then likely. Just noting that I saw you playing Galaga! Na, kidding. Great show as always. Hopefully you ran the HVAC to exhaust the gas, even though the shop would be freezing in the morning. God leaves us to free will sometimes, so its best to protect against that.
Watching those kids see snow reminded me of a chap that had come from Sierra Leone to Canada and the look on his face seeing that first fall in winter was unforgettable. Then he was told "you ain't seen nothing yet"
At this point, we've all not seen nothing yet.
Keith measuring snow down to the closest thou of an inch! 😊
And he was checking it with his super precise Starrett Snow Gauge!
LOL
And maybe while he is healing from STICKING HIS HAND IN THE PLANER, he could go view this weeks CEE video and try to learn how to run a lathe!
Welcome to our weather. Cannot believe the snow went that far South. The folks in Florida must be in shock. Glad the hand is getting better, don't over do it. I follow another RUclipsr in Pensacola and he got 6" to 8" there!
I did that 220V pigtail trick for my Air Compressor about 45 years ago but what *I* did was put the compressor in a little room off my garage where my clothes dryer lives. Toys sure are fun. Thanks Keith for sharing your personal life with us. Very cool seeing the kids playing in the snow making snowmen and angels.
I've been watching for a few years now but never comment. Great site, I've learned a lot thanks for sharing your talents and keep them coming.
That oven is a nice add to the shop. You have received more snow than we have this winter. Take care Keith.

It's good to see you back to work in the shop - even if at reduced activity. It must've been frustrating to have to put so much on hold.
Thanks Keith for the video. I good to see you are getting better.
Welcome to Canada! 🇨🇦
Canada, USA?
Nice oven, Down here in Milton Fl we set the record, 10 inches of snow!
Keith, glad to see you enjoying the snow while it lasts. We have had snow on the ground here in southern Indiana for a couple of weeks, we are tired of it and hope it will melt over the weekend. Take care of yourself, no falls on ice.
Here in Maine we got about 2 inches of snow but it's still cold. Good to see you back and the shop.
Great to see you back Keith , the left hand looks as it is working just fine and well on the way to a full recovery . Thanks for the video 👍
Hello from Nagoya Japan. Glad you’re healing up and thank you for the video.
A nice new tool for the shop. Thanks for sharing Keith!
Agree with you, this is what we get early and late winter. Northeast.
Keith's accent reminds me of a lot of the guys I was in the service with. It's great. Very disarming 👍🏽
I'm a retread out of Chicago myself, got here just north of New Bern forty years ago, I got here in 77, next day said "this is where I retire" love N.C. for the people and the culture.

That’s some brutal cold weather, you need your longjohns on for that kind of cold! Lol
Stay warm and safe in that cold, and Have a good one!
Dangerous road conditions aside, the blanket of snow over your land looked gorgeous!
HA! I love that snowman. My first reaction was to do the exact same thing but I only had enough for a handsized one. Glad to hear yall are all doing good in the crazy weather.
Nice addition Keith, Keep resting the hand. You had me twitching as you crunched over the ice.
Thanks Keith for all your videos. 😊
Thank you Keith!
Great video Keith, the snow man was great, you get well soon.
They sure do a nice job on those ovens. Thanks sharing Keith. Southern California. Could sure use some of that snow right now.

It's nice to see that someone finds the snow interesting...
Welcome to New England 😊
thanks for sharing the lay of the land
Keith Don't slip and fall wouldn't want you and hurt your self again!!! Take Care Keith!
I hav had snow on the ground at my House all year which is pretty rare.
Thanks Keith

Thank you for sharing. Very nice⛄⛄🔥👍
Great video Keith. Have to get one of those pens with a soft tip for computers and Velcro it to the side and use it to navigate the screen.
Nothing like a new toy to take your mind off of injuries!

Looks like Houston! Also a mess with driving here, people not used to snow over here.
A Yankee’s opinion: that is an excellent snowman.

I'm in Western New York State . The temperature was -17 the other day. The coldest its been in years!
Here in Michigan if we stayed home every time it snowed, we would be stuck at home for 4 months, luckily roads are kept plowed and salted pretty good
I have the HS1200 oven and can’t say enough good things about it. If you feel you’re burning through too much argon you can look into the cheaper nitrogen as a shielding gas. Stay warm!
We had about 6" of snow in the Gulfport, MS area.
You're not to leave it unattended!!!
Suggestion... Use the port towards the back of the oven, not the front port. If it protrudes into the usable space then having it toward the back of the oven will avoid interfering with something large at the front of the oven.
5" of snow with an icy crust? Welcome to NY‼️😁🤗🥰
6 inches of snow here in Mississippi along the Gulf of America! Congratulations on the new tool, will it work as forge?
You had 4.5" of snow and here in Madison WI we had green grass
We've had about 24" in the last month here in the Black Hills. This is why we all have traction tires and 4 wheel drive. Without those the ice makes it impossible.

Looks like you had more snow than we did in Stewartstown Pennsylvania.
Us northerners are used to ice too :) Pretty common here in Iowa.
@ 14:06 Your cat doesn't seem to agree about the snow. 😀
I got a human powered snow plow (a blade with wheels and an adjustable handle) after the last snow in western NC.
You have to scrape the snow off before it gets a chance to freeze.

Once again Ginger the Shop Safety officer on duty.
We used to get fairly harsh winters here in Germany, now I don’t even buy warm coats anymore. Crazy.
More snow than we have in WI.

Michigan spring weather.

that's more snow than we have and we live near South Lake Tahoe, more than they have too
We get ice on the roads to, and snow quickly turns to ice when its driven on.
Leave it to Keith to measure snow depth with a 6 inch Starrett rule!!! Enjoy the snow while you have it!
At the end off your post, 35:35 ish, I get 5 min of black screen. I think that this is 3 times now.
Anyone else?
It’s not a new machine, or tool. It’s a new toy Mr Rucker 😉
I figured Keith wouldn’t be able to make a Snow Angel, they’d probably keep coming out as Snow Devils! Lol☃️🥶🇺🇸
South Georgia got more snow than we did here in Southeastern Connecticut.
Keith, Here Minneapolis we'll take that 4 1/2 inches if you take our -20 degrees (-40 windchill).
You should consider a "vacuum" oven or Vacuum furnace for meatal heat treating, brazing, sintering etc....
Keith, can you send some of that snow up to Minnesota? We’re a little short this year.
WOW! Ask the kids if they know why the snowman was rummaging thru a bag of carrots.... he was picking his nose!
That’s a pretty good dad joke, I enjoy them with my coffee in the morning.
