I would love to lead a reenactment where we have over 200 men dressed in Prussian Pre WW1 uniforms and have them march down, in a full Militaristic style. That would be amazing!

Thanks a lot! I appreciate the gratitude. It did take a lot of effort to make and I especially tried to get every "bang" to match a soldier's movement! I filmed and edited EVERY clip myself. I love German marches!

This is beautifully played. However before all the cutbacks the Edingburgh tattoo in Scotland was always one of the finest of military displays, of music and other military things. Sadly we are down to inviting other countries to play with us. lol

Lip Jing Ng There are no german traditions in general. These are prussian traditions chile have :) There is also, austrian, bavarian, westfalian, saxon, hessian etc.

I know for a fact tis march far predates Nazi Germany, but still, it's kind of weird to see modern German military bands play this tune... it had become so interlinked with Nazism for a foreigners eye. That doesn't take away any of the honor thugh.

for zenistic: tattoo is a polynesian word meaning "tapping" for the method used by tapping a needle with a stick to get the ink into the skin. but it can also be used as in tapping on a drum in military music
I believe it originated from European traditions of calling the troops back for the night called "Tap Toe" I believe it was a Nordic country that has that and people began to translate it with an accent, Tattoo

In Commie countries, they always march in goose step. Shows how much they seek to avoid any comparison in style to former Nazi style marching.

Also those who are still living in the past they have to accept: a European State is rising. This is the marsch. My Grand dad fought against in the first preussian war. He actually won. But Bismarch got revenge.Yet its a beautifull theme. No wonder Denmark agreed to join the german union. Yet they were denied. Due to be too "Problematic".

It's the old intro to a march. All Armies have used this since Napoleonic times. The Order to quick (or slow) march is given, the Drums and Fifes begin this into to make the step of a large body of men lively. Marching to music is a better way of keeping time. Nowadays the march tune follows on, such as Auf Wiedersehen and as you note, Alte Kameraden Hope this helps. Jim

Preussischer Lockmarsch. Used to introduce the next piece and allow the band-members to change music sheets as appropriate. Seen the Massed Bands of the Household Division do that when they do five drum beats as their intro.

not really this was a song from Prussian times, This song was overlapped with some video footage for sure.... there is a live version ... i am trying to find it i will post when i do.
The Nazis did not invent the goose step, that was invented by the Prussian Army hundreds of years ago. The Allies just ignorantly associate that with Nazis, so we aren't allowed to do that anymore even though it looks infinitely better. If we started doing that again, we would immediately be hit with crushing sanctions or worse, military force. That said, I agree. And get rid of these grey uniforms, the jet-black and green ones looked much better. Yes, I refer to the true German WW2 uniforms.
tattoo derives from the dutch word taptoe , or turn off the taps...as in the evening drummers and fifers marched around the streets as a signal that the barracks gates would be closed and the innkeepers should stop serving soldiers drink....marty
The thing missing is a bass drum banging one....two....one two three at the starting.
How did you do this ? It is an absolutely brilliant piece of video editing, would love to get hold of this at a cost even. The music sounds so deep and rich, unlike the others which sound too "tinny" and with no bass.

Not necessarily. You can hate Nazis but one can only admire Germany's military tradition. Overall probably the best soldiers in modern times.
