Probably not the craziest, but Rusty's last win at m'ville after a chunk of track came up and took a dominant Gordon out of contention was definitely weird
Kyle Petty layin on the ground sucking oxygen in Dover VL in 95 was odd
Bobby beating Davey in the 88 500, maybe not weird, but definitely hits the feels after what happened to that family.
DW stealing one at darlington in 92 in the rain a week after dominating Bristol.

Jeff Gordon’s 2015 win at Martinsville was not only the craziest final win for a driver, but it capped off the best race of the 2015 season.
While Matt vs. Joey will always be controversial, this race was all-around great.
Fast cars on short runs.
Fast cars on long runs.
Lots of passing.
Lead changes.
Chase contenders running up front.
Chase contenders getting swept in crashes.
Crowd going wild multiple times.
To cap it off, one of NASCAR’s GOATs punches his ticket to the championship race just before retirement.
What a way to leave the sport on top.

I was ALWAYS a Tony Stewart fan. I remember hearing that 2016 was.his last season and watching every single race that year.
I was bummed out seeing him miss a few races, but when I tuned into the Sonoma race I never could have predicted how ecstatic I would be at the end. I thought he would run away with the win until he was passed by Denny. I slumped back in my seat. But my dad told me the hairpin was coming. He still had a chance. In the back of my head I scoffed. Then it happened. I was the closest I had EVER been to giving up on Tony. But my man pulled through. Years of cheering, years of heartbreak all vindicated in that single moment.
The Silver Fox Win's # 104 in the # 2 car subbing for Earnhardt and #105 (Final) in the #1 car subbing for Donnie Allison both at Darlington. He owned Darlington!
Ricky Craven's last win was pretty crazy at Darlington in 03.
Todd Bodines last Xfinity win at Darlington in 2003. That was a little crazy.
That will always be overshadowed by the Busch/Craven finish the day before.

DW in 1992. Won at Bristol and then made the right pit call to win the rain shortened Southern 500 and deny Davey Allison the Winston Million.

Selfishly, I was at that Phoenix race. Being able to see Jeff get his last victory on person would have been amazing as it was my first NASCAR race in attendance when he tied Earnhardt in 2007

I remember my 5 year old self going absolutely bananas when they happened..... and the same thing ALMOST happened at the 2005 Coca-Cola 600... the key word there was ALMOST
As for the Talladega not a crown jewel comment, during the Winston Million days from 1985-1997, there were four races that made up the crown jewel races, Daytona, Charlotte, Darlington.... and Talladega. Granted, it was the Talladega Spring race, not Fall race, but it was one of the crown jewel tracks.
That Taylor Swift blast just got you a sub, and the quality racing content is a nice bonus. 🤣

I was one of the few people at 2017 Indy. It was hot, but I didn’t want to sit down. AT INDY.

I’ve alway been bothered by that 2015 Phoenix race, because had Jeff Gordon never pitted, he would’ve had win 94, I never understood why he pitted, I was still happy tho cause Dale Jr was and still is my second favorite driver , but it’s crazy to think that would be his last win tho.

Earnhardt Sr.’s win had the same package as the 2001 super speedway package. Way easier to pass than you think 😉
You're not wrong about that package not being especially challenging for passing. There were probably more difficult. But let's be real here, by imagining this hypothetical scenario....
If you or I (through what I believe we can assume would be black magic) suddenly out of nowhere and everywhere all at once instantly found ourselves behind the wheel of a Cup car and getting to know the true visceral experience of what life feels like when you decide to gamble it at 200 MPH atop a literal Native American burial ground - you know, as ya do - with three or four dozen other dudes similarly tempting their respective Gods within literal arms reach of you, and then you said to yourself:
"Self...F'n Shake and Bake"
And ripped off roundabout a dozen and a half passes in 3 laps (just to make sure you get your money's worth in trading that unknown sharp-dressed fella holding a trident your immortal soul for that black magic, naturally). It's worth noting that you have 4 laps to do it, and doing it in 4 would still drop the collective jaw all who witness it, but doing it in 4 gets you named "BA". 3 says your name is "BAMF"
If either of us, or any other hypothetical "not-us" person, quantum-leapt ourselves into that reality and did those things and achieved victory upon the day, before flashing back into normal, everyday life where such moments are beyond fantastical, when you shared the true first-hand account with others...
It would still just be cooler when Dale Sr. did it. Because he's Dale Sr.
It's kinda like a circle. A circle of BAMF-ity that others cannot manifest.
To summarize, the guy was a badass, and when he did badass things they were cooler simply because he did them. Guess that would've been simpler to say

It seems like a lot of y'all only like Dale Earnhardt, Dale jr, Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson and that's it.
