    RC sproul's description of the crucifixion and Resurrection is absolutely brilliant. His all around knowledge of historical Christianity seems to have no bounds. The only possible explanation is that it is a Divine gift

    This one is so enlightening that I watched and rewatched several times so it can soak it in. I think because of the fewer participants than usual allows them to speak at length and more in depth.

    16:36 starts a tongues question. Dr Beggs uncanny logic and spot on interpretation includes, “No! Our tongues are for next Thursday.”

      Honestly, I had anticipated a sarcastic answer from one of the panel simply because they had answered it so many times before. Allister rose to the occasion and explained it well, as usual. As an aside, in a parallel uninverse (kidding) he is a Dry Bar major comedy act.

    I think it’s very clear that modern “tongues” are false, simply because Paul says they are sign for those outside the Church.

      I was just released from the mental hospital yesterday and I think I saw what they talk about. I wouldn’t stop reading my bible and only certain people would come near me. One young man told me he was nicolai, Sampson and he told me certain things that revealed. He was a black young man who told me he was a drug addict so as I have had troubles too but he had knowledge that I couldn’t explain and he spoke in the same parable backwards.

    • @nellou5527
      @nellou5527 3 года назад

      And another black man who couldn’t speak clearly in words but could make sounds I let him take my bible and he told me to read revelation 13 out loud. Bc I felt like I needed people to hear the gospel bc time is near.

      I’m afraid I don’t understand what you’re trying to say. Are you trying to prove modern tongues by talking about drug addicts?

    The Cross is the springboard to the resurrection. If Christ had not overcome sin and evil on the Cross He would not have been raised from the dead.

    Alastair when asked about speaking in tongues for today, he was very cavalier with his answer. He referred to a man speaking to his wife in certain way he would not speak to her in public, perhaps if he understood, 1 Corinthians 14:2: "For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit." He would better understand, also Romans 8:27, “And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” These things should not be taken lightly, if you don’t understand, and have never had the experience, as many did in the New Testament, Acts 10:44-46, Acts 19:6, etc, and today, it’s better not to expound on it at all.

    The work of Christ on the Cross and resurrection are the work of the Immanent trinity. The preaching of the gospel is the work of the Emmanent trinity, sharing the message.

    My question (and I wish R.C. were alive to answer it) is this;
    Why must Christ's work be active rather than passive in it's effect? Why can't it be, (as I believe the Bible teaches) that Christ's atonement is for any who wills to accept? As with the example of the wedding where the people who were invited chose not to show up?

      I have been in Bible studies and church services, church events, etc., for 23 years strong. We will never know everything here on earth. But little by little I understand more about the Bible and God. I especially think Bible studies are helping me to learn about who He is.
      There are many other people around the room who study and share where they learn specific things about our God. Its so interesting to hear these men. I learn so much.
      In heaven Dr. Sproul will be one man i want to talk to. He was so dedicated and I loved his sense of humor 💞

      Maybe because change is an action? You can’t see something like a “yellow ribbon tied around the old oak tree”, yet the power that lets us know the need of a savior is a change in me, I felt energy at that moment. There is energy in repentance, forgiveness, and justification. My beliefs and relationship with a triune God.

    • @revolverguy
      @revolverguy 2 года назад +1

      @@shirleygreen3188 you misunderstand me, or perhaps I misstated my question. I understand that is absolutely the changing work of Christ that sanctified me. But is God precluded from doing the work, setting it before us and then allowing us to choose to accept it? A choice is not a "work" unless we think ourselves to be omnipotent as God (in that His decision are results in and of themself.)

    • @shirleygreen3188
      @shirleygreen3188 2 года назад +1

      @@revolverguy Holy Spirit only gives us the opportunity to accept Christ’s atonement, right? Thanks

    • @revolverguy
      @revolverguy 2 года назад +1

      @@shirleygreen3188 yes, I believe that's true. However it doesn't mean that God is unable to make two things true at once. Let whosoever will come.
      Knock and it shall be opened to you.
      I stand at the door and knock, says Christ.
      The Bible is full of the imagery of Christ asking us to choose.
      Why would He do that if the decision were His alone?

  • @tedprice5828

    When we were weak Christ died for the ungodly. If Christ died for the elect only then all sin and evil is not judged. There will be a poluted cosmos. All evil must be judged.

    I love these guys and the church needs, but in many cases won't, listen to their wisdom. That said, a short comment on the bit about prophesy. For all their learnedness many leaders like this seem to not get what prophesy today is about. When Begg was speaking he said something like "I was given prophesys in the past but I told them 'why can't I just read the psalm where it says the same thing as your prophesy?" - what they seem to fail to recognise is that when a prophetic word is given to someone and it is verses of scripture, it is specific for the persons intended. The recipients may not be thinking to read that day the specific verses, but God brings someone to give those specific verses so the recipient is helped to see them at that specific time, for their current edification. thats how God works in the prophetic today, but for some reason the cessationist feels this is not valid and "adding to scripture". As a reformed charismatic for over 35 years, I can say that this thought never dawned on me for one second.

    Ok now I have a question..why do you Calvinists teach that God commands...ALL ..men to repent...& be saved ...when @ the same time you guys dont believe...Salvation is fot... ALL ...men...only the Elect/ Chosen...

  • @tedprice5828

    Christ died for all men.otherwise only some sins would be covered and the curse would only be partly covered and there would be uncleanness in the cosmos.

    But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.
    The people were saved out of Egypt by the blood; only those who believed were saved from their sins.
    The blood of Christ saves the wicked from the wrath of God for a time, not for eternity.
    The blood of Jesus Christ our Lord saves the believer from the wrath of God for time and eternity.
