I have the 50 watt head with 2/12 cab and dig it. This video was a great interpretation of my intended use (classic rock). It has a more “open” tone, not over-compressed in the driven mode. Jaime, you really showcased this and the other versatile tones of the Fillmore 50. Great playing, and great track Jaime!
The Fillmore amps from Mesa = pure tone. Your track (and playing) sounded awesome, Sir. It encapsulated many many tones the Fillmore is capable of. The Fillmore 25 is another real gem with its own unique DNA (6V6 goodness) and tone and is really like the "Deluxe Reverb you wish your Deluxe Reverb was"... With 10x the palette of tones. Just gorgeous
I agree 110 %. If you want a Deluxe Reverb on steroids, the Fillmore 25 is it. I swapped out the stock BS speaker and put in a Jupiter 12LAP alnico. Great fit for the 25 power and tonewise.
I've got both the Fillmore 50 and the 25 in head versions paired with larger Blackstar 1x12 cabinets and after market speakers. I can get a fuller sound compared to the combos, and allows me more flexibility to choose other cabinets if I want to. Both are excellent amps!
I have the 50watt version, and right out the box it sounds great, but has anyone had any strange issues with reverb, or both channels not being identical as they are made to be. One issue I had was when /i turn the reverb all the way down on the right channel, that knob makes the volume drop off almost completely. It is very hard to explain the issues.
@Spalien Acecraft Thanks! Very detailed. I had a Marshall and I got rid of it, I thought it sounded too harsh. I want something a little more breezy and warm sounding. Right now I'm playing through a Peavey Bandit and with some pedals it's actually quite good. But always looking to tweak the sound a little more.
The Road King 2 is the best and most versatile. Too bad they’ve gotten too spoiled to make it anymore, now it’s about charging more for less. These new amps cost just about as much as the road king 2 did. I am extremely glad though to own my very own Road King 2, they are increasingly hard to get your hands on. So if you do find one even used, then you’re lucky, restore it and treasure it.
Hi! I just got a Road King 2 as part of a deal. I intend to sell it. Since I haven´t got a cab, I plugged it on my Mark V combo´s speaker. Any tone tips?
Luis Beraldo I say firstly you have a treasure of an amp, nothing else offers what it has so be patient and wait till you can afford a 2x12 or 4x12 cab. Me I’m using a Mesa 2x12, the road king 2 is running all Mesa tubes. Everything starts sounding best after the 12 O’clock position, except the bass is very strong and responsive on the amp so just under the 12 O’clock position is fine, experiment from there. Channel 1 is set to two 5U4GB, two EL34’s two 6L6 and six 12AX7 power tubes, clean, fat or tweed sound best with this tube mix. Channel 2 is set to two 5U4GB, four 6L6’s and six 12AX7’s sounds very tight, warm and great harmonics. Channel 3 is set to two 5U4GB, two EL34 two 6L6’s and six 12AX7’s in the modern mode. Sounds like a boosted vintage/medium or high gain amp in this setting. And finally Channel 4 is set to two 5U4GB, four 6L6 and six 12AX7’s in modern mode sounds slightly compressed, deep, punchy and very tight and bright, takes super low end like my 8 string schecter very well. No muddiness at all, strings 7-8 sound just as tight and present and expressive as strings 4-6. Hang in there and enjoy that amp I am always thrilled to play it and having such a great amp improves my playing style and creativity due to its tone and versatility. Its a limitless experience!
You're on crack. Original MSRP of the Road King II head was $2500, and that was almost 15 years ago. This one $1800 for the 100W head. The modern equivalent of the RKII is probably the TC100, which is still $100 cheaper, not even considering inflation.
well it's more like what i think idk...it's still pretty rocky like with just 3 preamps for gain/5-6 stages....that will give you some room on the floor still with Color and whatever ignorant shit there...we get into 5 or 6 it's still just blocking distortion and some horrible noiseeee probaly lol. it depends dude...and pottt stuff..if you don't or dooo want to dime the gain pot stuff lol. I didn't think it was exactly betterrr dimed i still liked just bumped or halfway etc...idk...
I have a Fillmore 100 for a month now. Simply amazing how it sounds so pure and raw.

You know you’re old when “classic rock” is the new music you grew up with

Nimble fingers! Sounds awesome thanks for the video!
I hear Rush and The Eagles in his style. Very good 👍🏼
Amazing with the best quality the amps of Mesa Boogie but very expensive!

Wow, you sound amazing. My question to anyone here is, which Mesa Boogie amp is best for southern rock? Would the Fillmore 25 work?
the lone star special!

Random question, but how tall is Jamie? I can’t tell if it’s the camera angle or not, but he looks like a giant!!! 😲
