My opinion is the law makers have become too hot on the holding the ball decision, giving players who have possession barely a nanosecond to dispose of it. The Kennedy decision here is one of the worst free kicks I've ever seen in afl football and if the umpires are given directives to pay such free kicks when the player has barely a quarter of a second to dispose of the ball, especially in finals football, then our game will be a joke in 5 years time. Kids who are learning the game won't know how to win the ball in its purest sense...by throwing your body in by any means necessary and getting your dukes on the pill and handing it off to your nearest teammate. Now it's throw yourself in but be careful not to touch the opposition below the knee or to show enough desperation to get to the contest first...
GWS are the Florida Panthers of the AFL. Relatively new team established in a non-traditional area. Significantly less media attention so can just get on with it. Incredibly skilled, elite defense, will destroy you in transition, exceedingly dirty, built for the finals. They just haven't won a premiership yet.
