How I make SHRIMP TOAST Easy & Delicious!

I am making golden crispy shrimp toast for an easy and delicious dinner. Shrimp toast or prawn toast is a Cantonese dim sum dish from Hong Kong. It is made from small triangles of bread, coated with a paste made from minced shrimp and cooked by baking or deep frying. This is typically served as an appetizer at my local Chinese food restaurant, but today I am serving this for an easy dinner.

INGREDIENTS
8 oz shrimp (shelled & cleaned)
1 large egg
2 heaping Tbsp cornstarch
2 tsp Shaoxing cooking wine
1 tsp sesame oil
1/2 tsp chicken bouillon powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp msg
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp white pepper
1 scallion
8 slices of white bread
cooking oil for frying
1/4 cup sesame seeds for coating

This is new to me. I’ve never had this but I know I’d love it. The air fryer is the way to go. I’m not big on dropping fresh bread into fry oil; it would have to be dry stale bread before I’d do that. Thanks for the recipe. 😅

I would definetly use the air fryer. I think I would like a little more texture so I would finely chop extra shrimp to add to the paste. Thanks for the recipe now i have to go and type it up so I can save it. Still wish you would go a recipe I could print out with cooking instructions. 😊

I would assume it’s named after the city in China, so therefore would end in a “sheeng” sound because the x is pronounced sh. But yours is actually spelled with an s. Curious 🧐

Shrimp are not the same as prawns, shrimp come from saltwater prawns come from fresh, among other things

Shrimp and prawns can be found in salt and freshwater, depending on the variety.
Shrimp is a subspecies of Decapoda with 10 legs and 1 set of pincers. Prawn is a subspecies of decapoda with 10 feet and 3 sets of pincers. That is the difference.
Most English-speaking nations use the terms interchangeably, with some referring to smaller decapoda as "shrimp," because that sub-species tends to be smaller than prawns.
The fallacy of freshwater and salt water seems to be exclusive to the US
