Nope.
The real question is- Will they sue the EPA and get them off of our backs?

Hear me out, once the drivetrain is bulletproofed and we make a few revisions. (interior, axles, headlights). Would anybody be interested in one?
aye YO
Oh absolutely.
I couldn't afford one myself, but I could definitely sell one of these to a family member.
And probably steal it away from them every other weekend, for testing of course.
Absolutely Rich, it worked better than you expected. Besides the parts broken it seems to stress the driveline. Would be interesting to have a Low-High method to manage the slower crawls when needed. Good job guys!
100% interested, comparing it to what's available on the market i would say it would be my next irresponsible purchase. The versatility of the gearing and the battery life is what convinces me.
How long till you have to charge? Miles?
It literally looks and sounds like an RC car running around the mountains like a spider. Totally awesome.
Yeah one of those shots i thought it was an RC car till it went past people and I noticed the scale.
I was literally thinking that too. Sounds like an RC car, chews up the scenery like monster truck.
It reminded me of my Turbo Hopper rc buggy from back in the late 80s.
yeah, on that zoomed out shot it was absolutely "honey I shrunk the kids" for a second. lol
Pause and go to 19:51 and it 100% looks like a toy rc car. Unpause it and the sound 100% fits an rc car, as it drives past a scale model of WC.
Oh no… the spider poop made the cut 😂 so glad hundreds of thousands of people are going to see that now…
I adored this explanation.. it had to be here for all to learn such vital information.

@CBDC that's not AI. Not in the slightest.
@CBDC you gave no references either so your accusation js hypocritical . You clearly don't know what AI is so you're not worth the time of day.
You're simply using the acronym as a trendy term to use.
@CBDC wow, you're getting emotional 🤣
I have no interest in your suggestion because that kind of tech deletes the enjoyment from offroading. However, if there was a market for it then fair enough.
The point you're struggling with is that I have no interest in your suggestion.
I picked you up on the misuse of the term AI. That's my point dummy.
Learn what terms actually mean before using them in future.
No references 🤣😭🤣
Mate you got called out for using a term you don't understand and yet dump this salt. Hilarious.
Rivian would like a word. They literally already do motor per wheel with individual control. Tesla would like a word. They already do motor per axle, except in the plaid, semi and cybertruck rears which do motor per wheel.
Mercedes would like a word. VW would like a word. Lordstown would like a word. I can continue.
But they don't use "AI". This is a problem solvable entirely with regular human defined algorithms, no ML/AI required.
There's also good reasons you don't see motor per wheel done more. It increases cost and complexity. And for the DIY'er the parts available to do it are extremely limited, the only major hobbyist accessible hub motors if taking the lordstown approach would require a bunch of custom machining (not just welding) to mount to a Polaris, would require 4 times as much control electronics and to round it off, have less combined performance than the 1 motor they already have
The whole build was fantastic... would love to see this available commercially, the drivetrain itself is bulletproof. beef up the suspension and drive chain spec and we're there!!!!
I love how they keep saying "More Hours Later" but the sun is still in the exact same place in the sky.
It seems like it's even the exact same video clip every time!
this is such a badass looking ride. and this video was peak youtube with the flutes, jokes, high level overview and results against all odds. im amazed rich and stevo never stop doing your thing
The sun was at the same level every time they said hours later 😂 but love your entertainment

15,000 for a side by side with a blown motor had me laughing. Love this channel. 👍
This build might not have a ton more life in terms of YT views but I REALLY would like to see all the weak parts upgraded, some lights up front and another crack at taking it to another one of these events. I am so impressed by this build.
Awesome build. You need to make a crawl mode for it where the throttle mapping is way slower at the beginning of the pedal for climbing. That's the best advantage you have over ICE is the ability to use that low rpm torque and push up things
Rich went from rebuilds to modifies to pretty much design and build from scratch. The team you put together over this time has just proven to be really amazing. Rich you are an inspiration thanks for sharing every step (and misstep) you've taken. I hope to be able to achieve what you have thus far some day.
Supposedly he is the largest in his field.
This ride is absolutely sick. Great design steven a+ dude
hes got an eye thats for sure
This is an amazing build. The design is awesome - from the lighting to the roll cage to the drive unit. The chain makes me nervous though, it's the weakest link, if you will. It just goes to show how powerful the drive unit is when everything else around it breaks. The performance is startling, and the battery life very impressive. I can see some manufacturers casting an envious eye in your direction.
They could just add in an extra storage area dedicated to keeping an extra chain and whatever else is needed to get it back on. Although, there may be improvements to the system that could be made to help reduce the chain breaking which would be the better solution
@@zebraloverbridget The chain seems like a good point of failure. Like a fuse; sacrificing itself to save the rest of the drivetrain. A spare chain, a link breaker, and a wrench to tighten the idler pulley wouldn't take up much space at all (whether in the vehicle itself or in the trailer).
I cant tell which way the sprocket turns.........hopefully they designed it so the tensioner pulley isnt on the torque side. I've seen homebuilt stuff with chains of all kinds where people didn't think of that detail. Think gears on a bicycle, the deraillure wont be on the power side, but the slack side. They probably knew this.
Always good to see uncle ricardo and esteban living their adventures
I understand the motor, battery packs etc are expensive but people spend crazy amounts on there off road toys. They have to worry about damage to the cooling system, clutch, gearbox, engine etc. There is way less to go wrong on that ev and has instant tourqe. For a first build of something that you have limited experience and taking it out with experienced off roaders, you done well and more than proved how well an electric off road vehicle can do. And I'm not a EV fan at all, but I have to respect what you have done.
just because its an EV doesnt mean you dont have to worry about the stresses youre putting the motor and gears through, same with battery and cooling system if its in the summer. idk what he proved cuz we just watched an axle obliterate itself from the "instant torque" and alot of resistance which will cause motor stress. i mean that motor sounded like it was dying when the fat guy sat in it
what a brilliant effort. make an amazing piece of machinery only to have all of the standard parts break. great and entertaining video as always guys
its just a sign for whats to come for others parts too. that motor being so stressed prob wont make it reliable either. and seems like that was the only one to break or bend stuff in that convoy lol
@@MrPaxio 12:11 uh huh
@@MrPaxio DC motors can take a ton of abuse and still work without issues. Sure, at a certain point they will sound horrible but that won't prohibit them from working.
@@zebraloverbridget too bad every EV uses AC motors 🤣 oh the model 3 uses DC, hmmm no wonder weve been hearing about run-away teslas and unintended accelerations
@@MrPaxio what does that have to do with the motor
That thing is awesome. 2 days an only down to 65% ... definitely surprised an the way it tore that trail up all the way down to just 1 wheel drive ...just simply a badass build guys .

Man the hard work and fun that comes from it. Excellent content
Rich Rebuilds, congrats on your Condor EV UTV! I love to watch these eBay motor challenges, and your team hit another home run on this product. It would help if you built a fast-charge pack that you can use when transporting the Condor to and from long destinations - who needs stinking gas anymore to play with their toys. LOL 😂😂 And again, great job!
You guys built something really unique and cool here! Great job!
The good thing about putting a vehicle through its paces and breaking stuff. . . Let's you know where you need to strengthen.
I remember getting a Tyco Eliminator rc truck when I was a kid. It was the Pinnacle of toys in the 90s. The sound of this thing reminds me of those joyful summers blasting my rc truck around the neighborhood with my friends. Thanks for snagging that latent memory buried deep in my subconscious.
I like that "Smokey" journey still continues.
Suggestion:
As a Subaru fan - can i suggest you to EV swap one of the old Subaru Impreza's?.
Like find some totaled one and do it.
Keep gearbox and all the rest vanilla as it gets, just put spilt battery between rear and front and put dual motors in so you can still uses 5 or 6 speed manual...
Thant would be sick...and trigger a lot of people 😂

Awesome stuff! That axle got BORKED hard. Epic that it kept climbing.
Great build!
Please wrap your drive chain keeping all three pulleys inside the loop, that will prevent chain binding.
The problem with electric drive in this contest is that you can hear all the expensive noises the bodywork and frame are making as they bounce off the rocks
Cant thank you enough for this video, so much fun. This is as hard as it gets. In the dry. Nice work.
Thanks for sharing this with us! I really enjoyed this.
I absolutely love this channel. Funny and great builds. Keep it up!
I rewatched this because I am so impressed by this whole build and how it all came out.
Slow and gentle..and then US!:)
My favorite kind of people, are the one that get stuck or stranded, and LAUGH about it:)
Btw there were a few close ups of John's work, amazing craftmanship👍
Loved watching the build videos. Impressive unit in the end and it looked and performed awesome. too bad the driveline wasn't up to the task, but you had all the torques. Little bit more fettling to solve those issues and this will be a very solid vehicle.
This is incredible. That looked like a hell of a fun trip. What a build.
I would love to see it put to the test again after some part upgrades
That was awesome seeing it out there eating up mountains. Great work! Love the sound
Considering what failed in the drive train it was pretty impressive how well it took to that trail. Well now you know a few things that are under performing. The drive chain in its current form is not cutting it. The parts of the drive train that broke definitely can be improved upon. The steering rack I don't know what happened too. Well we were told it got bent but not how or why. But it could probably stand to be beefed up some. Other than that it seemed to perform mostly as intended.
How did the suspension work out? What I saw it looked like it could do with a bit softer springs to help articulation in really rough terrain, but that's just what I believe I saw. It's also a trade off. Do you want max articulation in terrain at low speeds or are you looking for performance at higher speeds and more forgiving terrain or even roads? It's the same as with air pressure in the tires. Low pressure give a large contact patch that can deform around and grip rough surfaces well, but it get "swampy" and unstable at speed on a road. Pressure in the tires can be easily changed but springs in the suspension is a bit harder to change at will. It can be done but costs a pretty penny and weighs a bit more.
As for the design, I both love and hate it. It looks eye catching and seems to work, but at the same time the high "wings" is un-necesary design that makes this purely a toy machine. If you get the buggs out it could be more than a toy. Even the doors actually works pretty well, though they probably shouldn't be a thing if it was to be more than a toy.
Having weighed things up I think the design is mostly there. This IS a toy, so looking like something from a batman film that got cut out and left on the cutting room floor is OK.
We need more Westin collabs! Love seeing you two together.
I love how loud the chain is and how sure Rich was when he said the bike would be better chain driven.
Except for when they
Literally broke the chain…
Chain still broke less times than a Polaris CVT belt, people break every weekend driving it like that.
Did the chain really break or just the master link cone loose? Same chain put back on and used again?
@@BoDiesel I was wondering that, too. If they were designing in a point of failure, the chain would probably be the easiest and cheapest drivetrain part to replace. A length of chain and a breaker wouldn't be a big deal to carry (though I would've put them in the damn thing along with a basic tool kit before hitting the proverbial trail).
Hell of a shakedown trip! That thing rips! Awesome to see grindhard out with you again.
Props to Grindhard, the unofficial Rich Rebuilds Rescue team.
This is an EV that I would love to daily drive... Congratulations and keep the amazing work.
Thing needs more then one chain off the drive motor for sure! 😄
A+ content... as always. Great landscape... Very cool rock crawling. Thanks for the show... and a beast of a UTV.
amazing job on this build after all that sema smoke what a comeback
You should look into running a dual row chain for added strength or at least ad a second chain in conjunction to take some of the load
That is a good day out and about. Awesome build, great fun.
Great build guys it reminded me of an oversized RC car with someone standing off to the side with a remote driving the car. Beef up the drive train and suspension and you’ll have a great off-road unit. Will you build and sale any?
yeah once he builds a rocket to mars
Great job on the video guys! Thanks for making it.
Do ya remember, “ if you squint,it’s Mint”
Rules to live by kids!!!💪🏼🔥🔥🔥👍🏻
Use double row chain and sprockets, more than twice as strong and stays on sprockets better.
👍you notice every time Rich drives, it breaks down

This is so bad ass. Great work. Upgrade on the parts ??? That would be awesome to n a take 2 of the trail.
That. Was. EPIC! Very impressive, not just the build but the balls to drive that effed up route. Respect 😎
Oh snap! Killer footage of the suits and court proceedings that you "know" are real cause of the open 3-ring binder. Then the grindz hard guys doin' the under-the-truck convo with the awesome chick. Even Big-Mac takes a ride on the EV. You'd expect all the YT brass would clash, but it was awesome seeing them together.
One thing is for sure, the team knows how to have fun
I actually understand the numbers a lil bit with the battery from building electric RC’s. Which is pretty impressive. that UTV is a beast. Great job 🍻
The first time I witnessed a LiPo powered Brushless Traxxas Rustler back in 2007. My mind was blown and I said that day 'OK then; all cars will be going electric the instant they scale this up'.
It has taken awhile to get here but we are at tipping point. EV production is accelerating quickly at this point which is only possible when it's possible.
I'm not in need of a car payment so I'll stick to my RCs for a bit longer. My daughter is almost 7 and has about outgrown her 1/16 Summit and wants to always drive my 1/16 Brushless Revo 'because it's funner'. She is probably going to be getting a Stampede soon. Then I can break my full size Revo out and not worry about killing hers 🤣

@@MrPaxio oof.. I know from experience
Shattered suspension and driveline parts on RZRs are so frequent Matt's Off-Road Recovery stopped filming most of those jobs. I think Polaris makes them out of glass or something.

I would love to see more electric off road content, I've thought it would be perfect for wheeling for years now. Maybe lower gears on the next one though haha
I truly enjoyed this video, now you guys know what parts you need to upgrade
Awesome build overall! Looks like it could use a low range gear for crawling, or maybe it needs a little bit of tuning on the throttle mapping to make the first 10% or so less sensitive. Finding a way to mount at least some of the batteries lower would also help make it more stable. You said 30S 4P, so if you could split that pack up and move some of the sections of the pack that are in parallel down lower that would help lower the center of gravity.
Besides that it just needs to aftermarket drive train parts to help stand up to the torque, no surprise there. A lower gear ratio for crawling may actually help here. Slower is more controlled so while lowering the ratio will multiply the torque, applying the torque in a more controlled way reduces shock loads you get from sending it over rough terrain. I guess with the chain drive you could use different sprocket combinations, but a transfer case with a low range would be sweet.

That thing makes so much sense to go off road with
If you switched the throttle mapping you can walk that up the side of the mountain. A hand control might be a little easier or even a thumb button that only gives it 5% or 7% of the throttle. It is hard to make your foot move a small precise amount, but a little slower with the go pedal will stop eating your parts.
yoooo this by far the coolest thing u guys build..its wild & loose 🤯🤯🤯
If you want to continue rock crawling it so hard...... This is awsome. You guys built this which makes it even sicker!!! Great job.
you guys need a knob (or really just a switch) you can turn on the dash to turn on "low range" which slows down the motor considerably for rock crawling, you literally have the perfect vehicle for this but it just needs some programming adjustments, have hoodie, will volunteer
remember, for rock crawling (and off-roading in general) go slow as possible, fast as necessary
also never stick your thumbs in the steering wheel like at 22:13, that's how you break a thumb
