How does it compare to the F12? How does it perform in the twisties? What’s it like driving a car with nearly 800bhp - in the wet? And the most important question - has Ferrari fixed the indicator buttons? All these questions and more will be answered in this week’s episode.
Created by two ordinary guys with an obsession for cars, TheCarGuys.tv is a digital channel that celebrates everything automotive - supercars, classics, quirky, hidden gems and those in the TCG garage.

Not sure why people keep saying the F12 is a better looking car. This thing is gorgeous.
“This car is a triumph.”
“No it’s not, it’s a Ferrari!”
😂😂😂
Lamborghini jalpa
I thought the 812 was just going to be a slightly better F12, but I was wrong.
I have to say the 812 moved the game on significantly to me as an everyday guy driving it on the road, from the rear wheel steer, how the valves open up earlier (F12 needed revs to get that sound going unless you had an aftermarket exhaust). The downshifts seemed to "explode" more, and where the F12 used to scare me, the 812 seemed a whole lot more manageable, despite the extra power.
And yes the interior is definitely also a step up.
But Id still be happy with an F12 lol
Thanks for the video CarGuys
I understand everyone who compares the looks of the 812 to the F12 and prefers tha latter.
I was of the very same opinion, until i saw an 812 in person and sweet lord what a stunner it is!
The thing with Ferraris is that they slowly grow on you, it is simply because they tend to always be ahead of the game , and as result it takes time to fully appreciate them!
You may well be right
Perfect example of this is the TR. 30 years on, its aging amazingly well
Same story happened whith me you're 10000% RIGHT.
I agree, I was in fort lauderdale and saw a few on the road and jesus it is stunning
I like your honesty Dario.
Please appreciate these cars, cars like 812 won't be there for much longer those who say it's just a overpowered f12 will understand what they've missed when it's gone
Oh god I can’t imagine how mental the “TDF” version of the 812 will be!!!
Who said they will make one?
Lately they always have. It won’t be called the “TDF” though. Last generation was the F12 TDF and the generation before that was the 599 GTO.
SleepEatDrive I was literally just thinking that
They just make millions version out off it. Look closely it is just 599 rework.
campkira money cycling formula
Epic epic epic. Thanks guys for this one . Just the sound of that engine , oh it’s make my day worthwhile. When the GoPro falls off pmsl !
Line of the video for me, Jason “ this car is a Triumph” Damian “no it’s a Ferrari”.
So dry but to me such quick whit.
I look forward to when you have yours and we can hear that V12 soundtrack again.
Haha, always a pleasure seeing you guys have fun. I'm sure you made the right choice ordering the 812!
That 812 really looks great!
As ever my two favourite youtube’rs turn out another quality video.
What makes your whole concept different for me is that you can actually go out and buy the cars you comment on and you have put your money where you’re mouth is and done that.
Speaks volumes for me that. So much respect.
Keep doing what you do fellas cos if you didn’t my down time wouldn’t be the same.
Cheers, Martin, that means a lot. It’s heartening to hear you enjoy the channel, and it makes all the time we spend on it seem worthwhile.
I went back to this video after taking an 812 for a test drive. I currently own An Aventador S and wanted to add another naturally aspirated V12 to my garage but with a totally different experience.
As a die-hard Lambo V12 guy, I absolutely loved the 812.
I thought your review was realistic because you both drove the car along typical British B roads in the wet!
The seating position and sight lines were brilliant. I also thought the digital speedo was perfectly positioned and allowed me to keep my eyes on the road but see my speed in my lower peripheral vision.
I also thought this was the purest sounding V12 and there was alot of sound in the spacious cabin.
I want one now and that’s saying something as a Lambo guy!
I think the reviews you both do are excellent because you can revisit them again after a test drive and they provide useful and insightful consumer information.
The amount of technical information that you include means that this video is so much more useful for me thinking of buying a car.
I do understand why you both love Ferrari now through driving the 812. The 812 for me was very pure, elegant and understated which makes it a good partner to my Aventador S which is flamboyant, theatrical and raw.
Lastly, could you revisit the 812 amd review it against the F12? I would like to know now after a few years whether you feel the same way about the 812 compared to the F12 as you did in this video.
Thanks again!
Imagine how much this will be worth as a classic car... Great video as always, thank you guys !
Great, entertaining one guys.. You're definitely on to something with the two of you bantering back and forth, talking about the subject in question! Not many people doing this!
Hands down the best real world owner's perspective Ferrari channel! I'm getting ready for a 458 this summer but F12 is in the radar as well. Thank you for the amazing content.
Thank you, David. You will love the 458 - please keep us posted, and of course send us pics of your car when you get it
@@TheCarGuysTV sure! I'll give you a shout-out.
Can you just imagine the hardcore version to this will be like? monstrous!! awesome car!
This was another great video, appreciate the insight. Possibly when you get your delivery you can delve into some of the details and tech. Thanks!!
Another top review guys. I liked the 812 until I had the fortune to follow one through Canford Cliffs up to County Gates (LV) roundabout a few weeks ago and it looked amazing in the flesh/on the move. So much presence and that V12 sound... I love the 812 now! You are quite local to me, I recognise all the roads in this vid especially the Moyles Court to Red Shoot road. I’ve driven that hundreds of times in many of my cars over the years it’s great... you just have to watch out for those pesky New Forest ponies that like to wander across or stand in the middle of the road!
Customer; "How much power does it have?
Ferrari; "Yes"
Great video gents, fun and informative as always, laughed when you just opened the boot told us what is was and left it at that!lol! Keep up the great content, always fun and very interesting!
V12 Berlinetta is always my favorite in the line. Best looking layout and the BEST engine! Bravo!
What a Ferrari. Love your banter and videos. Really informative and delivered in a chilled fashion. Nice one!
My heart is a 599. But this has blown me away, stunning car. Congratulations
The 812 Superfast is an absolutely brilliant beast of a car. I loved the F12 berlinetta but I must admit that I love the 812 Superfast even more. It's just so beautiful and amazing.
I can't stand the styling of the 812 , to much of a mish mash of retro ferrari styling cues .
@@paulthomson9014 Didn't ask your opinion.
Love the reviews guys and I am so excited because I have an 812 on order and a Pista on order and your down to earth, real owner reviews are refreshing. Love the hard core track guy reviews but not very realistic for me. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Great stuff, Michael - really glad you like the channel, it's good to have you aboard. Those are two special cars you've got on the way. What else have you got?
Brilliant as always, many thanks for sharing guys!!
I've been looking forward to this all day at work, many thanks
Always delirious to get Carguys notification!
Had a feeling you would like this one guys!
Thanks for the video and have a good weekend.
Cheers, Sick
Great vid as always guys 👏🏼👏🏼
Entertaining and well made video as usual!
Are you keeping the tdf or did you sell it already?
I can see why you're picking up subscribers. I'm now looking forward to your videos and because I have no life, I subscribe to 189 car channels and just moved yours up to the top. Great work, Gents. And to tell you the truth, I'd love a road like that anywhere near me here on the East Coast of the U.S.
Great to have you aboard, Marc
Great video, real review of an 812 by a real TDF driver - so when are you selling your TDF Damian?
Word of the video: diaper! With rear wheel steer hope you won't need them Jason. Thanks Guys!
Great review guys! Mightily impressed with the 812 and its ability to put down the V12 power, even on wet/slippery roads
I just watched your video comparing this to the Aston Martin DBS and Bentley Continental GT. I always love seeing Ferraris and Aston Martins go head to head.
Brilliant review as always guys. You don't need invites to press launches we want to see cars on real British roads. Cannot see the resemblance to the Daytona but maybe that's more apparent when you see it in the metal. The fact that this has nearly double the horsepower of my M3 is mind-blowing and it's a brave man who gives it a punt in the wet.
Simply great guys......keep em' coming
Great review delivered in your unique inimitable style, well balanced opinions with the right amount of banter. Couldn’t ask for anything more.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Geof - glad you approve
Given that i own a GT3 Touring myself and that it feels very oversized for usual roads performance wise i can imagine how this must feel. A good GT car, yes. But i doubt it's a real fun car. Going 1/10 of the throttle 99% of the time isn't THAT enjoyable. So i am heading to the Alpine A110 next. Would love to see a vid of that..
Another great video from the chirpy bantertastique “Chas and Dave” of the car world😂!!! Well done gents!👍
Wonderful external footage and crisp editing combined with a very down to earth and insightful commentary. Well done.
Grigio GT wow, thanks - very few take the time to talk about the mechanics of our videos - much appreciated 👍👍
You are welcome. It’s just nicely balanced and gives time to absorb the beauty of the car against the nice B roads you guys choose as your test route.
V12 Fezzas just sooo much cooler than the V8s. The real deal.
My dream garage would be:
812 Superfast, 550 Maranello, 365 GTB/4 Daytona. Each 3 gens apart.
What an amazing car....great video thanks guys
The first car guys video I watched I was not a massive fan, maybe because I’m fairy young (21), but every video to come out keeps getting better, keep it up guys! Smashing channel
Thanks, Ben - appreciate it
I own a Ferrari and thought it was my dream car, until I saw the 812 Superfast in person lol. #goalsreaquired
Which one do you have?
TheCarGuys.TV A 2014 Cali30 Nero/Nero, Carbon bits all over, Novitec Springs and ADv1 Wheels. She’s a looker and the N/A scream from the engine is bliss but that 812 is...wow. I’m a fellow RUclipsr but I have a offtopic Page on IG where I show the car. @nfa_review_offtopic 😎
Great review, sounds like a cracking car! We need to see you guys do a weekend road trip in the Integra and the Prelude!
I have to agree with you, I haven't seen an 812 in person yet, but I prefer the look of the F12 more, there's a guy down the road with a red one and that just looks fantastic. Also is that a Pista sitting next to the 812 when you pulled out?
No the car next to the 812 was the 488 Challenge
TheCarGuys.TV It looks amazing, you need to review it also 👍
I agree on the looks. I know it’s subjective but the F12 was in my opinion a much better looking car. I like this from the back, and directly in front but the side profile seems off and a little ‘droopy’ with that upwards stroking bodywork. Shame, as it’s clearly a much better car.
I like the three grills in the back side of the tdf. That alone almost makes the tdf better looking.
THAT 6.5! Enough said.
Good Video once again guys
Brilliant thanks from and all your other subscribers who will never own of of these cars or probably never drive one !
Never stop dreaming, Pete
Love the 812...
I agree with Damian, I think gloss carbon looks way nicer than satin carbon on any car
Great vid guys. Do a comparison with the DBS 😎
Good idea
Great Vid again Gents - love everything about that car and clearly the clue is in the name🤪 - nice kettle too Damien!
Cheers, Kev
Good review, what a car
Great vlog as always . Can you drop a hint as to the colour you've gone for on your inbound 812? Will it compliment the TDFs ?
No hints but I will film the speccing process
‘Who you calling big nose, big nose? “; Huge bonnet, very nice car
Why a hot looking Ferrari, Thanks for another great video guys.
Great review - I'm now looking forward to getting a very cheap F12...!!
good review thx -cant wait for mine .Any extras you would choose /avoid ?
Personally I would avoid the passenger display - I mean what is the point? So:
Choose:
Exterior carbon skirts, rear, front
Racing seats or Daytona seats
Carbon drivers area interior
Racing stripe
Avoid:
Passenger display
Embroidered carpets
Carbon engine bay
Thx .I have avoided anything that doesn't add to the driver appeal . I intend to use it for tours so want to be slightly discrete (Titianio with black wheels ,black exhausts ,dark windows )-just having carbon inside ,electric seats (daytona),other usual options they make you add . Incidentally ,if you had to keep one of your cars you've owned for the rest of your life which one would it be ?
nice honest knowledgeable review, and a sub.
Much appreciated!
Brilliant review. What a car. Would you consider getting it instead of the tdf?
Love your work guys keep it up
Cool, thanks for watching
Good evening guys and greetings from CA, I have quick questions, would you guys buy an 812 or F12 now in 2021? I'm looking to buy my 1st Ferrari and I want a V12 that I can afford of course lol I'm turning 28 and life have been really good so I figured is time to treat myself to something I love. I would be getting a used one, with low mileage and they range between 290k-390k for the 812 and 180k-220k for the F12.
Fantastic review... thanks chaps
Thanks, Daniel
Oh hello, Tuna in the house! I just play spot the watches now haha
@Ruán Conán then I'm a sad twat too!
Another very enjoyable video from you guy's. Damian, what is the watch that you are wearing is this video? Cheers Scott.
Hi Scott, it's a Seiko 1978 Quartz Saturation Diver’s Limited Edition S23626J1
@@TheCarGuysTV thank you, sounds expensive. I've just bought my first "expensive watch" a Rolex Deepsea which I'll add to my omega Planet Ocean, I liked the watch Damian was wearing and would like to add it to my collection.
Raven Media Actually the Seiko’s about £2k so not too bad. DeepSea is a lovely watch - is yours gen 1 or 2?
@@TheCarGuysTV Mines a 2014 so i guess a gen1? I bought it from a private Rolex collector who bought it new and didn't wear it very often, my aim was to buy a watch from its original owner, complete with everything. I have the box (inner and outer), papers and original bill of sale. Its got two independent valuations, receipt from new, box, cards, both tags, the protective plastic has been stuck to the booklet and still has some on the bracelet which has never been polished.
I did have my name down on a new one but my chances where very slim, im not rich so im happy with what ive bought.
Sounds like an incredible example
One of the great alltime engines...High reving N/A 6.5
Thanks for bringing us with you on your first drive of the Superfast! Any idea on how this car will compare with the McLaren 720S?
It's slower I reckon.
Your video helped me make a car purchasing decision :-)
Wow, thanks - how is it?
@@TheCarGuysTV it arrives this week :-)
Love popping to that garage. I wonder if they will lend me one too
great vid guys
Thanks, Sy
812 experience didn't scintillate like your recent F40 video. I would say you had more excitement in the integra type r at real world speeds. A derestricted 320kph/200mph autobahn run F12 v F40 would be pleasing on the eye.
The 812 is such an amazing car 😍 great video 👍😎
Sometimes older comments get lost in time - as we do an episode per week. But since you're now blocked, this won't matter to you, Ali
Thanks
Thanx once again guys, helps the brand, cheers.
I really WISH you were the real Piero - having met him though, I know it isn’t ☹️
"Price as Tested" would be appreciated for us peasants that can't afford it anyways.. but still curious! Camera 2 is Down! Was priceless. Love the vids.
Thanks, Aravis
A superb 'real life' supercar review. Now …. you said it was the best GT in it's class .. what were you comparing it with AND .. what's the price … circa £350k with proper options?
i would love to see the comparison with the pista, although it's totally different
Great video once again
Thanks, Duncan
Your knowledge and experience about Ferrari s are just out of this world thanks
Cheers
@@TheCarGuysTV I am 39 and huge ferrari fan from Turkiye for 30 years and its great to hear about those awesome cars by guys who owns and drives them for a long time this is much much better than to watch a car journalists test reviews
Thank you for your video! I really enjoyed it.
When does your 812 arrive? 👍 👌 💪 🇮🇹 🇬🇧 ✌️
Near the end of the year is the best guess
So since the F12 tdf was a car that's greatly appreciated in value over time, one can imagine how much improved the upcoming 812 tdf could be: 800+ hp, lighter wheels and tech....close enough to win a race on Sunday and drive home afterwards?
Exactly - a dizzying prospect
Do you know what I used to hate these alloys when the 812 was announced. If I was buying one I would have always specded the tdf style ones. Now I'm not sure these have grown on me massively
You guys are spot on - in 2013 Ferrari gave me a F12 to try for a week - it was the single worst modern Ferrari I have ever driven on twisty b roads and tbh you had to rev it past 5k to get going and by then you were doing 90 plus....and yes the inconsistent weight shift from left to right and viceversa was truly shiversome, it felt so badly tied-down it was like a 2004 TVR Tuscan. I couldn't wait to give it back. This car looks fab though - big depreciation puts me off a new one though!!
Yes, big depreciation is now a serious issue, but at least we can get a used one far cheaper
That’s contrary to virtually all the F12 reviews that says its great. Has a few downfalls. But most considered it the best gt Ferrari of all time until the 812 came out
@@Philippinesbound42 Suggest you drive one is all I can say. I used to supply cars to EVO magazine when they started up and we had another one on a group test and it was equally awful (dangerously unpredictable) - you are going 8/10ths committed into a sweeping left handed and as the corner transitions to a sweeping right hander all the load on the rear axle disappears and then shifts immediately across to the other side of the axle, as if it’s about to unload and spin - terrifying ! We tried Same bit of road few mins later in my 458 and Speciale at 9/10ths and they were utterly fine and dandy !
So if you have a 812 on order is it time to sell the F12 TDF as they are pretty much the same car and get that amazing 288 GTO, that would be my motivation to own a legend, that is the 288 GTO
Let's fine out next week...
That must be the longest bonnet in the world 🙂
I hope they do one with fix glass top , to give it more drama and airy feeling
That would be awesome - it does come on the GTC4, so you never know
Very good video 👍👍👍
Great video
Thanks
Loving the seiko marinemaster!!!
Whats your opinion on the FF or GT4C Lusso?
Would love to see such cars back as a GT1 Championship, like back in the days with the 550 Maranello.
GTC4 Lusso is a far superior car - no question.
Great video as always fellas. An amazing car but I do prefer the looks of the F12.
Yep, we do too
I like the strong accent. "T-auk" " Smauwl " very good.
Er, thanks
TOY 123… Iwonder if anyone would order TOY 074 as a plate for their supercar? 😁 Well, maybe for an LFA.
To be honest, I still prefer the TDF's look, but in the end, that's simply personal preference.
jezz I want one of these, nice one guys
My instinct having watched the vid is that the 812 handles so well it could almost be called 911-like. Which is fine. A progression if you wanted that. Now I have nowhere near enough budget to afford 812s, but I have gone from a 911 to a 360. And I really like the fact that I can tell I have.. The 911 is a supremely wonderful and composed car. But man, the 360 feels so much more alive.... 😈
Yes I sold my 458 Italia and bought a bog standard 360 MANUAL (that tbh is quite dreary to look at - imho the CS is the only peachy looking 360 but has an F1 shitebox) and I'm happy as I can drive it at 8/10ths on B roads and it dances around me !
@@paulthorpe766 the F1 is incredible, believe me. It HAS to be set up right with the CS software, but single clutch paddle shift is frikking brilliant. All the drama of a manual but allows you to focus on the road.
And looks are always subjective, but the 360 is actually the last true timeless Ferrari before they gave in to modernity and the angular threat posed by Lamborghini. The rear end of the 360 is one of the most iconic back ends of a car (akin to the F40 / F50 - of you don't believe me look at how forgettable the 430 / 458 actually are, yes triple pipes whatever..). And the front end is one of the widest-looking cars on the road (even though it's not as wide as a 458 / R8 / AMG GTC etc). No one walks past a 360 without being slightly under its spell.
And most important, the 360 is still raw as hell. People that say otherwise just haven't driven one close to the limit, on the right roads. Nothing like them. Yes, the 355 is great but it's painfully slow!
Saw this exact car parked on brick lane once.. not a bad motor
Are those roads 2 way? How do u pass each other?
Those snarling nostrils on the super fast are amazing.... what spec have you gone for Damian?
Not finalised yet - I’m useless at speccing
I hope they bin their F12s. Will make it easier for me to own one.
