  • In this cake decorating tutorial I show you how I made this gold bas relief wedding cake! This was for an actual wedding that I made at my day job;) Since I was at work, the lighting is never the best for videos, but I think you get the idea. The final details (floral and topper) were placed on at the venue by my boss. With the lighting never being the best at venues ( due to overhead and mood lighting) it was hard for her to get a good final picture without shadows. All of that aside...I hope you enjoy this video!

Just beautiful!!! Can i ask... what size acrylic discs do you use? I'm sure it depends on the diameter of the cake itself, so...for an 8" cake, for example... what would be the diameter of the disc you use? Oh..just thought of another question....I noticed that you were using a double cake drum for underneath the cake. Is there a specific way you determine when to use a cake drum, as opposed to just cake boards? Is the determining factor just the weight or, if it has multiple tiers, or...?? I'm curious the size tiers in this cake. it looks really big. How many servings? Sorry for all the questions! I'm like a sponge right now, soaking up every bit of knowledge i can glean! You do beautiful work!

THanks!! So for an 8" I would use two 8.25" disks. All of them are .25". We use a double cake drum to support the weight of the bigger cakes. ANd I would go 2" bigger then the bottom tier. If you have decorations for around the bottom, I would go bigger. THis cake was 8", 10" and 12". Probably serving around 140ish. I don't mind the questions:):)

Hi, this is good work, kindly how long should one wait for the gold dust on the moulds to dry before applying the moulds on the cake?

Thank you;) It really only takes maybe 30 minutes or so. It dries pretty quickly.

I like almost any that you can buy on Amazon. I switch it up:) For a brighter gold, go for a gold highlighter.

If you check on Amazon, there are a ton of options for silicon flower molds for cakes;) I don't have my laptop with me to attach a link for you, but if you need me to let me know ok?

I think you are asking how I sprayed the flowers? I used an airbrush and mixed gold luster mixed with Everclear.

I use American Buttercream most of the time. In fact I am filming a tutorial on it tomorrow;) Should be uploaded this week or next!
