- In this cake decorating tutorial, I show you how I made this BEAUTIFUL Gold Embossed Floral Hoop Cake! Of course I think wedding when I look at this, but really it could be done for any occasion in any size. And really any colors you prefer. I wanted this to be a more muted rustic look for this cake, but it doesn't have to be! The embossing was done using a cake stencil and of course I had to add some edible gold leaf right? I hope you enjoy this and get something that you can use from it:)

Lovely
Awesome cake 😍
Absolutely GORGEOUS 🥰
Mary, question: what's the reasoning for using ganache over buttercream for a crumb coat? Wouldn't it become more of a hard crunch when cutting the cake over a soft buttercream?
Very pretty 😍
Que perfeição 🥰🥰🥰

Could you make a step by step video for tiered cakes. Thank you 😊
I kind of briefly go over it with a lot of my tiered cake videos, but nothing real detailed. I just have not had real good response to those types of videos. I don't really know why!
Hi! I had a question about the cake dummy on the bottom. Is there
A special kind that is sturdy enough to hold the cake layers on top of it? I’m wondering if it’s strong enough to hold the weight of the cake tiers on top. Would it work the same way if I made a five tier cake? I’m wondering about the support on the bottom. Any insight or help on what would be best to use or how to do it would be great thanks! Love all your videos!
Oh I wouldn't worry about it being strong enough. They are solid foam and can take a lot of weight. Even 5 tiers;) if you are still worried, you could add some sharpened wood dowels in the foam tier.
Hii, what type of metal did you use to stick the gold hoop?
Hi what brand of gold dust you r using?thanks

Hola . Podrías traducirlo al español? Gracias.
What size of ring are you using?
This is so beautiful Mary! I have a boho bridal shower cake coming up and they want me to add pampas grass to it...any suggestions on how I can add that to a buttercream cake in case it sheds? 😅 Also I love how you showed how to make the floral hoop! I had ordered one last time but next time I think I'll try it myself!
I wish I had a magic answer for you, but I would just have to guess since I have used it. Could you maybe spray a confectioners glaze on it? O know you can spray hairspray on it for to keep it from shedding, but that is t very food safe. Confectioners glaze may be the next best thing.
@@sophisticakesbymary thank you, that's a great idea!
@@ayeshafarooqui7001 worth a try!
Mary I absolutely love your designs and down to earth way of explaining your techniques. I’m wondering why you wrap the stems of artificial flowers with floral tape. I can understand real flowers, they may not be food safe, pesticides… Why do you do that with artificial flowers? Is the adhesive from the tape food safe?
Honestly it is one of those things where you are darned if you do, darned if you don't:( I just show that because sometimes people get offended if I don't.
Hey
Did you crumb coat with chocolate ganache and then put buttercream as final coat?
Yes;)
Very nice, can you upload a video showing how to wrap a hexagonal cake with sugar paste
Maybe I will get to that:)

💕💕💕👍🤤🌹🌹🌹🌹
Hey Mary, Im the person who sent the pic of the watercolour cake via fb. This is fab, I love it, how much would you charge for a cake like this? I've got my first wedding cake order for a 3 tier, quite simple white fondant cake with some light blue florals and I'm trying to work out the price, any help would be fab, I love our videos and take huge inspiration from them
Hi Honey! You know pricing can be tough. There are a lot of ways to go about it. I found what worked for me was to have a per slice price for a basic frosted cake and then add for details. Whatever you do, be sure to account for ingredients and supplies( and I mean everything even baking spray and parchment paper) . Some things you will have to guess at. And do NOT forget to account for you time. Otherwise you get screwed:( Oh! And cost for delivery, gas is expensive! when I was figuring out my base price I tried to guess how long it would take me to bake, fill and frost a cake. Say an 8". Decide what you think a good hourly pay would be. An 8" would serve I think 25- 30 wedding sized servings. Add up you ingredients, supplies and pay per hour. Divide that by your servings and that should give you an idea of the price for that 8". Does that make sense?
@@sophisticakesbymary OMG thats great Mary thanks so much, I never even figured in parchment paper, spray and the likes, this is a massive help, again thanks hun x
למה אין חומרים בעברית ?
What size Is this gold hoop?
I think it was 8"?
Too much. Thanks
