ASUS and Corsair's pricing model boils down to "what do we want to sell this for when it is 40% off on black Friday?" In this case 500 - 40% = 300 & $299.99 is spot on for what this board is actually worth.
As a keyboard enthusiast the price of this keyboard is simply outrageous and will definitely sit on the shelf. ASUS think that they can charge and put high tag price on their product that obviously some of the affordable keyboard is sounds better, looks and feel better than this nothing special expensive ASUS keyboard. Glad to see your video dear Betty❤❤❤
I haven't watched the video. "but should you?" No. $500 for a gaming keyboard is WAY too much, even though it sounds pretty good. You could get a REALLY nice custom board for that.
It's an overkill price $500 for a mechanical keyboard? If I will spend money on a keyboard I will just buy the Wooting 60HE I'm now rocking a Royal Kludge RK61 Plus Keyboard changed the switches to Cherry MX Speed Silver and changed also the stock ABS Keycaps to PBT Doubleshot keycaps and it just cost me a total of $80 for everything and happy with it.
Love to see you back! I had no idea you had a kid, I was thinking you stopped making videos as you said you keep thinking about doing that a while back in a video. I'm glad Switch and Click was just on a hiatus. Super happy for you for having such a lovely kid! Welcome back!
Liking and commenting to help boost the RUclips algorithm to see you guys hit 1M subscribers by the end of 2024. Also I really really like my Azoth Extreme keyboard 😮
If I was seriously considering purchasing this keyboard, the lack of a magnetic connection for the wrist wrest would almost by itself cause me to not buy it. The price does seem high, but I’ve seen people end up putting way more into a keyboard. So maybe it’s not that far out of line considering all the features it has. I think the lack of a magnetic attachment for the wrist wrest is a huge oversight. It does sound really nice though.
Gaming market won't want it because it's not HE, and the enthusiast market won't want it because they can build something cheaper and save $400. As a keyboard enthusiast who knows JUST ENOUGH to lube my switches and insulate the bottom tray [and swap my own keys] What does this Asus keyboard do that my Black Widow V4 75%, Huntsman Analog, or Keychron K7 don't? Besides cost just a little more than I paid for all 3 of those, I mean.
One of the things that gets pointed out a lot in reviews is that the Azoth Extreme has a really solid build quality, which you won't see on the Razer keyboards for sure. Anything that isn't a gaming keyboard won't have the same responsiveness, especially wireless. So, this is kind of marrying the two worlds together. For sure, HE switches are hot right now and a lot of people are paying attention to it, but not everyone plays games like Valorant or CS where it might make a difference! As for the enthusiast market and customs... I'm curious what kind of equivalent you can get for $100 that's equivalent. Time spent researching and choosing all the parts, waiting for them to come in, and then doing a lot yourself (like lubing switches which takes a LONG time) isn't always worth it for everyone! Just my take on it!
Eh no, I make and sell custom keyboards and just the keycaps alone cost more than $100, never mind the cost of the case, the plate, the switches, the PCB and so on. I have never seen a $100 fully finished, fully custom keyboard.
First... so happy to see new Switch and Click videos again, you guys have definitely been missed! I picked up an original upon release, it's still being used by one of my sons... abet with different switches over the myriad of custom boards on display right behind his desk. Cost wise if you pickup a QK75n, add Nixies and GMK caps you are close to this price, if you get a Sonnet it would be even more... but this price is getting close to a WS Freya! Really Asus? I mean it looks great and I planned on buying one just to try it and would at $350 but not $500. I would much rather have a Sonnet or Freya I could truly make my own. I do a lot of written keyboard reviews now for some retailers, currently have 8 I'm working on, so I would love to try this but otherwise I just can't justify the price. Maybe Amazon will have some deals on Black Friday but not holding my breath at this point... excellent review!
I got distracted by my cat halfway through but the card you showed at the beginning slots perfectly to cover the dongle and gasket pressure in the back in plate if you weren't aware. That being said, the price is still outrageous for what this keeb delivers!
Glad to see you back. I think they price it high and will probably drop their price to make it seem like a value. No doubt it’s a nice keyboard but not worth $500. Also guess it for someone who want a nice keyboard without worrying about setup. The biggest disappointment and the reason why I didn’t buy it myself was the so configuration software. It way behind via/qmk. You can pretty much only program 1 layer and remap keys. Compared to keychron q1 or zsa voyager this is a step backward. Lastly the other disappointment is how loose the knob is next to display which makes it feel cheap.
I see all the comments saying it's super expensive and will never be bought by anyone sane... and then there's me that just ordered one because I've been looking at lots of videos of cust keyboards, loved a lot of them and the sound they made - but don't really have time to investigate 15 different kinds of switches, with 50 different kinds of keycaps, 45 different kinds of stabilizers, 32 different kinds of foams etc. which end up in millions of different combinations. Don't get me wrong, I applaud and love the versatility and choice - but I just wanted a keyboard that would feel super nice without spending hours researching and then building it - and I'm not a competitive player so I really don't care about HE switches anyway. It needed to sound good, feel good and be nice to type on. I wanted something that matches some of the best customs in sound, feel and robustness without having to spend so much time into it. I'm that older guy that has more money than time to spend - and it makes me sad.
glad you are continuing with uploads. i buy magnets from amazon and i can see myself taping magnets to the wrist rest so it clicks on to the board. great review!
I totally understand the concerns about price, and I respect the hobby of experimenting with custom components and switches. However, when balancing a busy work life, family, children and household responsibilities, the time to build or experiment with different barebone components is simply not there. For me, the Asus Azoth Extreme is the perfect middle ground. It offers a premium out-of-the-box experience that rivals high-end options like the Keychron Q series but comes at a price point that is still far more accessible than custom-built keyboards from brands like Rama Works, Keycult, or Zealios The value I see in the Azoth is that it provides a ready-made, premium experience, combining high build quality, excellent typing feel, and features like OLED and gasket mounts without the need for further experimentation. It’s not that I haven’t done research-I simply value the time saved with an all-in-one solution that still offers top-tier performance.
Good to see one of my favorite keyboard reviewer back on track! :D I would love to buy this keyboard if I have unlimited budget :p but overall I think it's worth the price..

i almost pull the trigger for some reasons because it's a bit more modded than the azoth 75 when i seen the price. i said at this point they can keep this 500$usd keyboard on shelves forever. asus lost thier mind. yes it has features but being that much expensive no way. plus a silicon wirstrest Lmao. can't be serious.
I have the azoth nx snow, I do love it but am I gonna upgrade to the extreme? No, it's so much money for such underwhelming features and also because of armoury crate
ASUS could easily drop $200 off the cost of this keyboard simply by removing all the unnecessary accessories in the packaging. No gaming keyboard is worth more than $300. ASUS is also wasting time experimenting with price ceilings while other brands are quickly gaining notoriety. As an example, while I'm personally not a fan of Wooting, their keyboards have claimed the top spot in terms of consumer mindshare in the competitive gaming space. In addition, Keychron has evolved into a formidable player in entry to mid-level keyboards with solid build quality and a focus on simplistic designs for a little more than $200. ASUS needs to focus on improving their customization/configuration software *immediately* and stop this obsession with premium parts for their ROG-flavored rabbit hole.
Great Video!!!!! Absolutely a good keyboard but i think ill wait for the ROG FALCHION ACE HFX WIRED GAMING KEYBOARD WITH ROG HFX MAGNETIC SWITCHES, RAPID TRIGGER AND SPEED TAP MODE
Whatever you're smoking... stop it. For that price, there are tons of custom keyboards that look much more expensive and use high end materials not plastic like this thing.
I have both Azoth (my main for some time) and Azoth Extreme (review sample) at my desk right now. I have very positive feeling about quality of the body, switches are great, the whole soft/hard system is interesting, but its not doing all that much. OLED display is smaller and i do prefer the old monochorme one. But it sounds quite nice. All things considered, Azoth Extreme is very fine keyboard, but the price is way way off. But keep it comming, Asus. I like the way you are heading :)
I have the azoth but not the extreme (this newer version), I'm pretty happy it so justifiably 500 dollars for some adjustable switch feel and metal case is asking a lot. I feel they're low key just trying to inflate the cost of everything and hoping over time people just accept these high cost. like the cost of some foam and rubber is not much. maybe the OLED screen is expensive but it would feel more justifiable if they made is a bit bigger then the not extreme version. I'm sure this will go on sale after a while cause its hard to see a lot of people buying this version over the cheaper one. Maybe they're pulling a 5 head move and came out with an azoth extreme to make the OG version sell more? lol
Feels super weird since ASUS kinda ok with Falchion, the low profile one. Not their best effort but it is getting there. They kinda only compete with LoFree and NuPhy on that price segment, and then you filter it for gamer, it still have the niche. Somebody tells me what kind of material costs that much to 500 on this, or on what niche? I feel that $150 HE keyboards are maybe better for gaming. It has the same metal case. Heavy, maybe also easy to disassemble. And sounds more or less better.
If you have a surplus of 500USD and want to feel really special in an intraverted way, you can buy Razor too. I will wait for a cheaper knockoff made in total darkness for around 10USD, but suprisingly the same quality.
Nice keyboard' lots of acc... but too rich for my pocket. I'm a $225 keyboard buyer after the mods, I guess I'm cheap or frugal. Great video, thanks for sharing the information and your view 🙂
Do you think it would be worth it to build my own keyboard using a gmmk compact with Razer green switches and Steelseries pudding keycaps over say a Steelseries apex 9 mini with the same keycaps and their optical blue switches?
Is it expensive? Yes. That said, I recently watched a video of squashy making a custom mecha keeb for Joey with a led screen costing over $1k for him to make 😂
Yes, I make and sell custom keyboards and they can work out to be much more expensive than this, especially if you use high end components. Some top notch sets of keycaps themselves can cost hundreds a of dollars, however custom boards also generally look, feel and sound much better than this Asus and you can customise every aspect to suit your preferences.
Wooting, Razer, Keychron have not only HE but also Last Key Prioritization, which is crucial for FPS gamers. I think this is for average mass consumers who only differentiate by brands. Likely their choices are mainstream brands like Logitech vs Cooler Master/ Asus etc The comment saying this failed both gamers and enthusiasts is correct. Asus brand loyalists might get it but even then its a very hard sell, in features and looks.
Has anybody here used wet suit material or auto sound dampening material to mod their keyboard with? I found a small surfing vest (won't fit me) at goodwill for $2 and bought it thinking I'd try it but haven't yet so far. Good video Betty.
This'd probably be worth the price if it included a stylish spare set of not shine through keycaps. Though maybe I'm just not seeing the advantages of being able to flick a switch and give the keyboard an erection.
Apart from armoury crate, I think the keycaps are the most disappointing part of this keyboard, imagine paying 500 USD for regular old shinethrough keycaps. Imo, they should have took time to design a more special keycap set. I even thought it was the OG Azoth in the thumbnail for a moment. I think the rest of the board is very premium but whether it's worth 500 USD is highly debatable. I would personally pay no more than 350 USD for this, even with its tech implementation and a unique set of keycaps.
I think $500 is expensive but considering that there are other "high end" premium boards that cost about the same or more, I think its reasonable for what you get. You get something very well made with nice materials, the attention to detail such as the printed silicon layer, carbon fiber and good quality display. When you compare it to budget alternatives that are good or can feel even better than this for much less, of course it wont be worth the $500. But this is obviously aimed at the super high end niche market and for that, I think its okay.
$500 and still looks like a (max) $150 board, crazy. I just finished building my Zoom75 SE that I got secondhand (cheap) and it looks waaaay better than this overpriced board. Arguably can perform similarly too in games, or I just install the Boog75 HE module inside and bam it's a hall effect gaming keyboard now (while still cost less).
Hmmm... I don't see what could get you past a $150 price point. No crazy features, no custom options or artistic design. I also don't feel the need for someone to toggle between the hard to soft typing feel. I imagine preference is typically static. Maybe its useful if you're swapping from gamer to typist?? Still; programmable macros, an extra screen and/or a knob seem more useful than the toggle gimmick.
A rock 500 times the weight still costs less I got mine 20 days ago at micro center and its going back on the 29th day. They did not mass produce this as they are all sold out but available on Amazon. No one is buying it. I own 2 original azoth from 2023 and I got them on sale for 200
Almost bought this, it not being magnetic is a deal breaker at this price point especially when you advertise the keyboard being made out of metal. Just silly.

Though maybe I'm just not seeing the advantages of being able to flick a switch and give the keyboard an erection.
Is there a low profile wireless keyboard with low latency, nkro and no louder than a membrane keyboard?
Asus Falchion LP
A new videooo 🔥
Depends,if you want to 😉
Is this keyboard can beat wooting HE60???
500$ keyboard, without magnetic switches, will buy only people who don't know anything about keyboards.
Uuuuuh! What sicelent keyboard are you using?! :) I need one for the same reason as you!
Did anyone say overrated because high ground is 1/3 the price and I love it
I need to try one of these out
Kinda weird how its $500 in amazon while its priced $210 in lazada in the philippines
65% right?
Apart from armoury crate, I think the keycaps are the most disappointing part of this keyboard, imagine paying 500 USD for regular old shinethrough keycaps. Imo, they should have took time to design a more special keycap set. I even thought it was the OG Azoth in the thumbnail for a moment. I think the rest of the board is very premium but whether it's worth 500 USD is highly debatable. I would personally pay no more than 350 USD for this, even with its tech implementation and a unique set of keycaps.
If your rich and financially stable, yes. If you’re financially stable but not rich, NO.
Love it but 500 is too much.. asus also says to get the full effect of 8k pulling you need a 240 hertx atleast monitor crazy
I own 2 original azoth from 2023 and I got them on sale for 200
Did a poll on my discord with only keyboard enthusiasts xD
WE'RE SO BACK
Tbh a gaming keyboard for 500 bucks should have RT imo
you can buy 2 wooting 80HE's for this 500 Dollar price
Where’s the white version?
Almost bought this, it not being magnetic is a deal breaker at this price point especially when you advertise the keyboard being made out of metal. Just silly.
No. Wooting 60/80 clears everything
