Why is my St. Augustine sod turning brown?

Wait whats the solution? A layer of new dirt to help it grow. or throwing down sod again and hoping it grows this time?

Yes. Organic matter. Peat moss mushroom compost. Potting soil.

My FL lawn is 80% brown any not sure if I should treat for cinch bugs, fungus, re-sod or rip up grass and build a garden lol. 😩
