Did you dig a shallow hole, fill with gravel and then level them? Curious as I want to do a similar foundation.

I did dig a hole, 6” deep, I have a laser level and shot each level of the hole.
I then used a 16”x16”x4” base block shot to level grade.
The gravel, helps both with base and also termite resistance.

If it were mine, I would spend the time and money to make the foundation way stronger so the house could withstand a bad storm . Like a tornado
    And a concrete safe room

We core filled the piers and will anchor the floor to that, the joist are 2x10 lumber which are very heavy timber.
Unfortunately a tornado will level even the most well built home.
We will have a storm shelter within an accessible distance and location.

Thanks for the comment. We are making it strong , the piers are core filled and we will have a storm shelter.
And it really doesn’t matter how strong you make it if a strong enough tornado comes through. We’ve all seen whole towns leveled. :)
