Another tip about jumps - On every jump (above in the center of track) there's an arrow indicating strength and direction of gravity, this could be helpful in moments where you don't feel orientation
You touched counter strafing at 4:40 which is IMO the most important tip.. but in general my best tip is "steer as little as you can and strafe as much as you can" don't make unnecessary direction changes and try to stay on track via strafing ... And mid air steering is only good to line up your craft with the track .. course corrections are best done by strafing
Here's a couple more tips: Frustration is distracting and distraction causes errors: some event wins will seem impossible even after a LOT of practise: Save those until you have fully learned the course to "muscle memory" and use whichever ship works best for you: you'll still need to take occasional LONG breaks to avoid tensing up, banging your head, and rage quitting. clean your greasy joystick pads (IMPORTANT) and use a light touch. If the OST is annoying you, turn t off. And you can remap the controls too, it's well worth experimenting up front to map a mix that's as familiar and comfortable as possible: for example, I use one finger to either boost or to brake, and another finger NEVER need lift off the gas, ever. Another point is not to try to stick to just one "meta" ship or to one "ideal" loadout: Some tracks favor speed, some favor thrust. some require tight handling where others allow looser control: avoid combinations that fully reduce or maximize any ship asset, as they each affect the others to a large degree: If you can't get a good mix with the ship you're using, try loading out the ship that has the closest mix of starting stats: that should allow you the most loadout options within the points range required by the event. If you are not able to get through a speed or time trial event with a particular craft, you can save the loadout of the ship that got the high score and you will likely get a better result: after the event, select "show loadouts" and then arrow left from "continue/restart" to highlight the winning loadout: note that the ship mfr. is not saved when you save its loadout, so you might wish to note which ship as well. This is a good way to learn which assets should work best for any track and event that you are struggling with, and help you gain a feel for how they each relate to event conditions and requirements. Lastly, if you are worried about completing the game, please don't worry! Just have fun, go really fast, and let your Zen. It'll happen.
i add some more: fixing the acceleration button makes your hands less wound trying the max speed of a ship in a direct line helps comparing which one is the fastest or has the best durability using your own playlist makes you clearly better in the game do not use double boost with low health skip all impossible tracks and come back later ALIENATE your controller. use what you have, lego bricks, tape, velcro tape, super glue, whatever it takes. there is NO controller only for crafter out yet so help yourself some people say you should use the ai help. yeah, do that, but do not go over 15 % anywhere or you may get some problems keeping up in the later game boosts are tactical af, learn when to go full speed and when it's better to spare it. also you have to use JUST ONE of the 3 boost mechanics at someI moments. never forget: there is also a standart hyperboost play redout 1. it's not really harder but you gain a lot of strafing exp respawns give you maxed out boost, sometimes you can use this to your advantage keep in mind that some trophies not require first place and at least, ignore the thrust powerups besides its a really hard track with many sharp corners. thrust sounds super valuable, but it adds almost nothing to your clear time
I've run a few trials and easing off the gas for corners rather than applying brakes gets me much better times. It's harder but it's worth it. Some corners are still better to brake through but in general regulating acceleration will result in a higher average speed in my experience.
@@dannyblitz2122 The problem for me is that as a console player, I find have to have at least one shouider buitton pressed at all times, as the controller must be held steady by at least three, preferably four, stable points. the other two points are the base of my left and right palms: Since both thumbs are needed as ship steering controls, I find I cannot take my finger off the gas...not quite "ever" but almost never. That said, I do have a few top ten times on PS, but I gave up trying for top times because the game is so uncomfortable for my hands. The first Redout was less taxing for console controller players, but to be fair there is so much more that is annoying about redout 2, such as the "two boost system heat management minigame", and a frankly lousy "innovative" music mix fiasco (imo) that it really is no big loss. got a question: what does it mean when stats in the upgrade system crumble because the stats goes beyond max? i know the reason but in my opinion crashed stats doesn't affect the ship at all. for me, it looks more like a next level in upgrading despite way lower stats. am i wrong or did i miss something? D:
too much power to handle. it means you have to try some other combinations. the most expensive stuff is not always the best edit: forget it, i wasn't right. bigger ring means even more power
The stats "crumble" because the chart expands to another ring. You're not losing any of the other stats. The UI is just making room for the next level of power for all stats by "zooming out".
There is not a boost you get for hitting the gas at the right time during the countdown. You may hold the accelerator throughout the countdown and you will begin moving the moment you're able. However, this does not work with the boost button. If held, it will not trigger after the race starts; you will have to release it and re-press to start boosting. Therefore, you hold the gas during the countdown and try to hit the boost the moment the race starts so that you're able to access it as quick as possible.
@@ashton3856 Sometimes that works before a corner yeah, then you do the double stick in the same direction if necessary. The hard part is not over committing to a corner for me.
@@ATribeCalledCars "drifting" is a different technique for cornering and is useful on certain corners, some corners are better to do sticks in same direction, some corners are better to just strafe, some its better to just steer and some are better to "drift" and do sticks in opposite directions. @Paronax mentioned the drift technique because no one is really talking about it and its really useful for certain corners.
