Hello, this game have a skill not to tips you: boost and hyper boost together.
At same time run over boost pad, you can get super high speed, and your health not the health, is the second boost.
Hyper boost can be turned off prematurely by pressing the button again or pressing the brake button.
Make sure it is off when your health is low, otherwise the hyper boost will continue to drain the rest of your health and kill you.
This looks like an arcade game. Got that RAW Thrills vibe to it
Can you imagine what kind of flight simulation rig would be able to accommodate VERTEX? That one huge decline in the pitching course looks like you're flying down from the edge of a cliff. Also, VERTEX stands for Virtual Environment for Redout Training EXperience. So according to the lore it was a sim but then became an in-universe eSports platform.
Ya were strugglin with the pitch. When ya needed to pitch up; ya was driving the nose into the ground slowing you down.
It reminds me of the F-Zero X for the Nintendo 64, the game with the best music :D

i dont know about redout.. but i loved wipeout as a kid and this feels exactly like it
HUGE wipout fan. I never thought anyone could do anything but attempt a clone. This is the first game that stands confidently on its own next to wipeout. The risk/reward with the boost mechanic plus the granular control of your ship makes you feel so much more in control of your laptimes

I get the feeling the AG (anti gravity) racers are like the Dark Souls of racing games, seeing Neil struggle like this.
as a long-time fan of AG racers, yes, this is a very apt comparison
you're probably right about that ahahah
AG racers are unique due to just how unforgiving they are.
Any mistakes will make you bleed serious speed, allowing your opponents to quickly catch up, and too many send you hurtling to a fiery doom - as a result, there's little room for error, but really awesome when you do pull it off, such as taking a turn at around 900km/h without blowing up.
Redout 2 is particularly high-risk, high-reward. A large part is knowing when to sacrifice health for boost uptime, and while jumping and track skips can give you an edge, go too far and you'll hit a deactivated section of track (indicated by the blue line on the track turning red) and fall straight through.
It's worth going to settings and increasing ai assists. The tracks flow like a dream and it's much more playable

I'm a redout veteran, this game is 🔥. They did everything right.
well not everything... the flight is now so primordial that got overexaggerated in terms of dificulty due to more parameters to take in mind (rotation, strafe, direction, and pitching)
or at least it seems for me imho (IOs tracks (tartarus mines) are pain for me cuz oif that)
Also the music is...not so good like in redout 1

@@mimireia_ I agree that Tartarus track is very difficult,and those jumps on that are as well. I'm going back through srrl tournaments to get the bonus stars,and on that Tartarus track finish the boss version with respawning. Man it's hard, probably the toughest task.
This game reminds me of the old computer game called Age Of Speed from my childhood. Sadly It's no longer playable as flash games have been purged from the internet. And seeing this brings back memories from playing it for hours and hours. I'm glad you made a video on this game. It brings back many memories.
Since you like games with a retro vibe, check out on youtube for a game called Horizon Chase Turbo, it clearly pays homage to classic racing games from the 80s/90s like Outrun, Lotus Challenge and Top Gear, but with a modern look . They even called in the composer of several games from that time (Barry Leitch) to do the soundtrack (which includes a classic SNES' Top Gear theme as an easter egg).
Been playing on Xbox Series x great game deserves more publicity 👍 the music needs optimising seems to skip on xbox. I inverted the pitch control more like flying a plane very satisfying when you land an emmence jump 😎

I did played an old Nintendo console of this game and the PSP iteration.
You should get the boys and play on multi-player. That would be fun too watch them play and die of course. That could be hilarious.
The PSP wipeout games were Wipeout Pulse and Wipeout Pure. Both are classics.

How did you progress past the third trial with 4th place. The game wouldnt let me get past that tutorial race so I just gave up playing. Shit was stupid.

@@Wylie288 Yea I did that and was hoping I would see how this guy did it but he must have edited out his do overs because the game won't let you progress with 4th place.
@@cdavis7529 From what i see in the multiplayer. people are afraid to use health as boost. health is just a boost meter in disguise.
experiment and see what approach is most optimal. its very doable. they even lowered the required score.
Yeah, the speed challenges are definitely a overkill in terms of difficulty. I failed the tutorial too in spite being experienced from the first game (grant it, I was being an idiot trying to do barrel rolls the first time around. XD)
The health being boost is contrary to the typical game where you're trained not to lose health.
But in Redout 2. Every time you regenerate a full health bar, you have that much of a bonus to your boost to use, so you want to balance using it frequently, allow it to recharge, and use it again for maximum speeds. This is especially true for speed events.

This is NOT Wip3out. All Wipeout games are masterpiece and this just ordinary racing game.

I've played all the Wipeout games and prefer both Redout games, though I think the comparison should be closer to F-Zero over Wipeout. The problem is, when you play either Redout 1 or 2, any other anti grav racer will start to feel very slow.
