Listen, I don't care how old any of you are, you can go back to school at any age. There is no age limit on learning. I'm 38 and I went back to school at age 35 for a 9 month agriculture program and it was the best experience of my life. Met the coolest people and learned a great trade. Now I have a job in the cannabis industry which I probably wouldn't have gotten into without that program. Nothing wrong with changing your mind or your major a few multiple times lol. Take your time folks, life isn't a race, it's a journey with a lesson specifically for you.
Thank you for posting this. I need the reminder. I am 33 this year and I keep feeling like I need a second career, a change. I feel like it's impossible...don't want more student loans. But I want to learn some new skills and explore another industry. I went to Uni "late" the first time...now I feel even older. But I love to learn and I have always loved school. I am also thinking it might even be the best time for this because we are all stuck at home anyway...I don't need the college experience with parties and mingling, been there, done that.... *the kids aren't even allowed to have that experience now cause of Covid anyways* so as a mature student I would probably do better online anyway.

The person I was at 18 is so different from the person I am now, mentally more mature now, love myself now, am my own cheerleader, and the things I understand and love now are different as well. I’m 44 and just starting my education. It’s never too late girl😉 I hate using pencils when taking notes because it can fade over time, so the one thing I just love having is an ereaseable pen. I bought mine in a book/stationary store. They’re the best. Good luck with school. Excited to follow your progress😘
OMG the expanding file folder was the thing that got me through school! When mine broke I didn't know what to do and immediately bought another. Trust me, it will be SO helpful!!

Such wise words to get a sense of what you love before you go to school! For me, I went to college right after high school and went into dental. I’ve been out of school for four years now and just living life working and paying bills has made me realize all the other interests I have! I was immature at 18 too but I did what I thought was right and I do love dental. However, sometimes I wonder if I would of taken a year or two off what I could of done instead. Also you are never too “old” to go back to school and do something different! Life is full of possibilities!
I think everyone should do a gap year. I went for zoology right out of high school, was NOT mentally mature enough and dropped out. Family pressured me into dental, hated it, dropped out, got student debt for nothing. Did a two year program in conservation. Graduated. Could not find a job to save my life. (Was working retail during all this after I dropped out of zoology) Almost 25 now, going back for cardiovascular technology. Would I love to work with animals and the environment? Yes... And no. I want a good paying job. I want a comfortable job. I want a job that gets me respect. Took me a while to realize that. So while this isn't my life's passion, it is something I'm passionate about and interested in and something that will pay me enough money so I can travel and live comfortably and volunteer with animals or at an environmental group in my spare time (this job will enable me to work part time and still be able to live comfortably) It takes a while and it takes life experience to know what you want to do. Don't take on student debt before you have it figured out

This haul is so inspiring to me!! Most of my teaching is online so I wasn't gonna buy anything but now I think I'll have a look around. The only thing I would suggest is a see through pencil case, that was the only kind we were allowed in exams but idk with covid.

Totally think the folding organizer/folder is great because everything is in one place! I know you don’t like binders lol, but I used to put a notebook in a binder for each class so it had almost its own “book” with notes, print outs, etc. And I had many loose leaf textbooks so I would just take out that week’s chapter(s) and also put it in the binder, if possible. It helped me stay on top of everything better on a weekly basis. Loving these videos!!! ❤️
I am off of work this week and I sat down to eat breakfast, switched on RUclips and your new post was there!!! (Hello Carl- you sneaky little nugget) I am having coffee with you, and, honey- I’m gonna be 50 in December and still LOVE stationary/office supplies. Keep the cream sweater and wear a cami underneath. Layering in the fall and winter is a necessity! So- my advice if you want it is this: I took several years off after high school. I worked doing lots of things-took “computer courses”, got my nurses aid certification, and then finally went back to school. I worked full time and took 4 to 5 courses per semester. It was insane how much I took on, but I did it and was so proud of myself when I was done. I was in my early 30s when I finished. Now: here are my words of advice having taken my master courses completely online, there will be moments about 2/3 into each semester that you will want to throw that lil bitch that fit into your backpack right out the window! You’ll cry and feel overwhelmed and you will want to quit. Let yourself feel that, and then, put your big girl panties on, brew yourself up some coffee and eat your Reese’s bar and then crack open that lil’ bitch you were gonna throw against the wall and finish your freaking paper. You are brave, brilliant and beautiful inside and out! I would have been very proud to have a daughter like you. Thank you for letting us enjoy your journey!

I'm in third year of uni and trust me, the folding folder pocket thing is so handy when you get worksheets, print out stuff yourself (for me I like having a physical copy of data tables, summaries of topics etc for when I'm doing homework or just need to check something quick), lab papers etc. I don't get too many papers, but when I do that's my favourite way of storing them, and you get lots of storage out of it.
I'm a chem student, was a bio student before I switched after a year, and often I need to resort to like statistical tables (f test values, t test values, z-scores etc) and also, I am paperless in the sense that I take my notes on an iPad, but I do like to have some things physical. So that means, I might write up a small summary page for longer concepts and processes (For example: Krebs cycle, or periodic trends, or even reactions in orgo (alkenes and reactants and products they normally form)) and print it out, slip it into my expanding file for reviewing and/or doing homework. I also like to make physical mind maps, since sometimes it's easy to get lost in the details and you could be like, "I know how to do this, but... what's the point of it? What is it for?" and to combat that I try to keep track of where we're at in lectures by making diagrams (kinda like phylogeny trees haha) and write titles, subtitles, etc any BIG SCHEME details or tiny pieces of info. They're supposed to be review and just for context, so Keep It Simple, Stupid (I am big dumb sometimes ahhaha so trust me this helps a lot for visual learners). For note-taking, I find that making your own acronym system with time helps a lot, so like reaction is rxn, biological is biol., evolution is evol, energy is E., different is a triangle, etc. Doesn't have to be universal, but it should just work for you. I also highly suggest annotating slides (printing them out or investing in an iPad with a pen--you can get relatively cheaper ones from Apple, I have the iPad 2018) because you'll soon realize copying the slides and what the lecturer says is a time drain. It also means you're focused on copying the slides before it's gone and thus you don't catch as much of what the lecturer says. So I highly, HIGHLY, suggest you try this out. If you go the iPad route, which IMO is a good investment for your whole academic and even career journey, you can access the internet, a calculator, any documents you have in your google drive/iCloud (i love google drive so I upload all my docs to it) all in one device. Makes things easy and FAST. The main point is being efficient and having enough time to actually study. In first year, I struggled a lot bc I didn't seem to ever have time for anything. So I started finding shortcuts that actually give you time to do what matters more (HOMEWORK!!!!!!!!!!!!, flashcards/anki, studying and revising). I stopped being careful about aesthetic (it just has to be clean and legible to future me) and went from notebooks to slides for a year, and switched to a tablet when I realized I'm spending tons of money on paper anyway and hurting the environment. Now notes are quick, I have time to really listen to the prof and write what they say, which is usually p important, and do my homework (trust me hmk is the most critical part of learning bc you apply what you're learning, and testing your knowledge of material). I'll be honest, flashcards are great, but I rarely have time to make them :( Anyway, sorry for the long winded answer. If anyone else sees this, please consider what I wrote! This helped me so much because I went from studying a lot and getting 50's to at least being able to get B's and A's! Because hard work isn't always enough for grades, you need to be strategic too. :D Good luck with your studies!
I think everyone is very much interested in what you got for school, I know I am haha! I'm a sucker for a back to school haul so I hope you keep doing them while you're in university. BTW, yes to the file folder. It's a better alternative to a binder. You can also try the plastic folders with the 3 prongs, I used them when I was in college.
printer is a must, scissors, hole punch, punched pockets, plastic A4&A5 folders/wallets, at least 1 binder for home(much easier to flip through important handouts/printouts easily), glue(you never know when you'll need it). Covid is getting worse again, so I'd say better get everything you need soon-just in case. I'm sure you'll do great in uni - you are a very strong and determined person. You should get more staples, a stapler remover, a tape dispenser, and definitely a printer. The file thingy will be good to keep your syllabus for each class, papers, whatever. The post it notes are great for studying! Exciting!

I work as a academic coach and I want to tell you that the accordion folder you got is one of the best tools for organizational success (over binders for sure!!!) I also used one when I went to college and university and it worked well for me, so no it was not a bad buy in my opinion. Creating a Google account is also a great digital tool to play with to get yourself organized. It has docs, slides, calendar, etc and it’s amazing for keeping on track. Hi Megan! A bit of advice from me (med student second year) and my cousin (zoology student 3rd year) regarding how to handle the huge amount of information you’ll have to learn. 1. Always keep your notes organized and neat. Even if you don’t want to study after a class, make sure your notes are correct and put in order. At some point you’ll have to start and it will be easier to have everything prepared instead of scrambling around to find your notes and information. 2. Don’t leave more than 3 subjects for exam season. Try to study or at least read (but like pay attention and try to understand the info) your notes and learn stuff over the smester so you don’t have to cram a lot during exam week (more like weeks for us, we have 4 whole weeks filled with exams, practicals, orals; written etc). Out of all 11 subjects I have I never leave more than 3 to study during exam season. 3. Postit notes, crayons, pens, those narrow smaller post it notes you use to divide chapters or mark stuff in your books (the flags) and everything you use has to be colorful. I swear to you that colors will make it at least 30% easier to remember shit. Also, pastel is super cute, but those colors that make your eyes burn are more useful and your brain will notice them more easily. 4. Make a color scheme. Mine is smth like this red for general info and definitions, blue for adverse effects, green for treatment schemes, orange for symptoms etc 5. Study like you’re builiding a house. Start with the big obvious and easy stuff. The main ideas, and build around them. If you start with details you’ll get lost. You don’t start furnishing and building untill the foundation is solid. 6. If you get behind on a subject or fail an exam fuck it. We’re people and we make mistakes. Ignore the failure and focus on the next one. Don’t waste time crying over that grade. It will take away from your energy to study for the rest of the exams. You can cry after you’re done with everything if you must. However a grade is just a grade. 7. You’ll have teachers that make snide comments about how “this isn’t for you”, “you’re not made for this, you’re not ready, you’re too slow, you make too many mistakes etc”. Some of them will be more subtle some will be more direct. Ignore them. Their opinion has nothing to do with the truth. Good luck and all the best wishes!

I think the organizer is a good idea but it might be too bulky to carry around. I liked having individual folders for loose papers in addition to a notebook for each class because it was super easy to fit in my backpack. But some professors gave out way too many papers so I ended up using binders instead of a notebook and folder depending on the class. I always had to play it by ear at the beginning of a new semester.
Loved this video!!! I personally would always take a school supply/stationery haul over any other type of haul 😂. Also I definitely think the expanding folder is a great idea - I used one in high school and college for organizing papers and it’s way better than individual folders that can get bent or forgotten/lost/mixed up more easily.
Lol at the backpack exchange thing. Happened to me last year as well. I started med school last year and I wanted a unique backpack. Something quirky andn colorful and elegant. Bought something similar to what you had. The saleswoman told me several times to get it in black or white because it works better. When I came back with it the next day to exchange it she was like “they’re all sold out, sorry”. I almost cried and then she was like “just kidding we got new stock haha. I told you you’ll want the black”. Lmao, my mom thought that was rude but I found it hilarious. We have the same sense of humor.

I also bought one of those organizers for loose paper. Also because it was cute lol ... unfortunately I have yet to use it but I mean it’s there when and if I ever need it lol On another note I also found a calendar to put above my desk and it’s soooo helpful. Aside from my planner this has been a lifesaver. My classes are also all online and you mentioned a printer I highly recommend getting one as there will most likely be a lot of reading you will need to do and if your anything like me I need to have the physical paper in order to process my readings instead of reading them on a computer. A printer is a must
Good luck on your new journey! I love all the stuff you bought. When I was in university we used to write on A4 paper sheet and then we use staple together each corner. Like this was more easy and practical to study , easy to find a particular course... The organizer you’ll need for sure :). Good luck!
I love stationary hauls! I love all school content and it's just really refreshing to see someone approach school in a less rigid way. I'd love to join in on a ''study with you" stream one day! My stationary tips: - Sticky notes of different sizes! They're super handy, but sometimes you need little ones to flag texts and it can be annoying to have to use a giant one lol. And tiny ones I find super useful when you're going over your notes and have a question that you don't want to forget but you don't want to actually write it on the page. - YesStyle has undated Mini Schedule Note Pad in their stationery section and they're serious lifesavers. Whenever my brain felt overwhelmed by how much I had to do that week, it was really nice to brain dump a schedule on the notepad. They're tiny though! - Everything was digital at my school, so I had to worry more about how I organized my digital spaces. Often, I would just upload scans I made using my iPhone's note and put them in a google drive. But I did have an upright magazine holder for my folders with papers I was using at the moment + notebooks to make my space look tidy.
The expanding organizer is the best! I have one and I absolutely love it bc I can print out my powerpoints for class and put them in there so I can follow along in class. Also, it’s useful to keep syllabi in.

It's always a good idea to know yourself. Sometimes we can get pushed into things by others that are very certain of what they think is good for us. And then we're miserable. We have to do what makes us happy, as long as it is a responsible, well-thought out decision. And hey--getting school supplies is always exciting! Those expandable folders are great for organizing bills, lol. At least that's what I use them for.🙂

Such wise words to get a sense of what you love before you go to school! For me, I went to college right after high school and went into dental. I’ve been out of school for four years now and just living life working and paying bills has made me realize all the other interests I have! I was immature at 18 too but I did what I thought was right and I do love dental. However, sometimes I wonder if I would of taken a year or two off what I could of done instead. Also you are never too “old” to go back to school and do something different! Life is full of possibilities!
I think everyone should do a gap year. I went for zoology right out of high school, was NOT mentally mature enough and dropped out. Family pressured me into dental, hated it, dropped out, got student debt for nothing. Did a two year program in conservation. Graduated. Could not find a job to save my life. (Was working retail during all this after I dropped out of zoology)
Almost 25 now, going back for cardiovascular technology. Would I love to work with animals and the environment? Yes... And no. I want a good paying job. I want a comfortable job. I want a job that gets me respect. Took me a while to realize that. So while this isn't my life's passion, it is something I'm passionate about and interested in and something that will pay me enough money so I can travel and live comfortably and volunteer with animals or at an environmental group in my spare time (this job will enable me to work part time and still be able to live comfortably)
It takes a while and it takes life experience to know what you want to do. Don't take on student debt before you have it figured out

Totally think the folding organizer/folder is great because everything is in one place!
I know you don’t like binders lol, but I used to put a notebook in a binder for each class so it had almost its own “book” with notes, print outs, etc. And I had many loose leaf textbooks so I would just take out that week’s chapter(s) and also put it in the binder, if possible. It helped me stay on top of everything better on a weekly basis. Loving these videos!!! ❤️
I am off of work this week and I sat down to eat breakfast, switched on RUclips and your new post was there!!! (Hello Carl- you sneaky little nugget) I am having coffee with you, and, honey- I’m gonna be 50 in December and still LOVE stationary/office supplies. Keep the cream sweater and wear a cami underneath. Layering in the fall and winter is a necessity!
So- my advice if you want it is this:
I took several years off after high school. I worked doing lots of things-took “computer courses”, got my nurses aid certification, and then finally went back to school. I worked full time and took 4 to 5 courses per semester. It was insane how much I took on, but I did it and was so proud of myself when I was done. I was in my early 30s when I finished.
Now: here are my words of advice having taken my master courses completely online, there will be moments about 2/3 into each semester that you will want to throw that lil bitch that fit into your backpack right out the window! You’ll cry and feel overwhelmed and you will want to quit. Let yourself feel that, and then, put your big girl panties on, brew yourself up some coffee and eat your Reese’s bar and then crack open that lil’ bitch you were gonna throw against the wall and finish your freaking paper. You are brave, brilliant and beautiful inside and out! I would have been very proud to have a daughter like you.

I'm in third year of uni and trust me, the folding folder pocket thing is so handy when you get worksheets, print out stuff yourself (for me I like having a physical copy of data tables, summaries of topics etc for when I'm doing homework or just need to check something quick), lab papers etc. I don't get too many papers, but when I do that's my favourite way of storing them, and you get lots of storage out of it.
I'm a chem student, was a bio student before I switched after a year, and often I need to resort to like statistical tables (f test values, t test values, z-scores etc) and also, I am paperless in the sense that I take my notes on an iPad, but I do like to have some things physical. So that means, I might write up a small summary page for longer concepts and processes (For example: Krebs cycle, or periodic trends, or even reactions in orgo (alkenes and reactants and products they normally form)) and print it out, slip it into my expanding file for reviewing and/or doing homework. I also like to make physical mind maps, since sometimes it's easy to get lost in the details and you could be like, "I know how to do this, but... what's the point of it? What is it for?" and to combat that I try to keep track of where we're at in lectures by making diagrams (kinda like phylogeny trees haha) and write titles, subtitles, etc any BIG SCHEME details or tiny pieces of info. They're supposed to be review and just for context, so Keep It Simple, Stupid (I am big dumb sometimes ahhaha so trust me this helps a lot for visual learners). For note-taking, I find that making your own acronym system with time helps a lot, so like reaction is rxn, biological is biol., evolution is evol, energy is E., different is a triangle, etc. Doesn't have to be universal, but it should just work for you. I also highly suggest annotating slides (printing them out or investing in an iPad with a pen--you can get relatively cheaper ones from Apple, I have the iPad 2018) because you'll soon realize copying the slides and what the lecturer says is a time drain. It also means you're focused on copying the slides before it's gone and thus you don't catch as much of what the lecturer says. So I highly, HIGHLY, suggest you try this out. If you go the iPad route, which IMO is a good investment for your whole academic and even career journey, you can access the internet, a calculator, any documents you have in your google drive/iCloud (i love google drive so I upload all my docs to it) all in one device. Makes things easy and FAST. The main point is being efficient and having enough time to actually study. In first year, I struggled a lot bc I didn't seem to ever have time for anything. So I started finding shortcuts that actually give you time to do what matters more (HOMEWORK!!!!!!!!!!!!, flashcards/anki, studying and revising). I stopped being careful about aesthetic (it just has to be clean and legible to future me) and went from notebooks to slides for a year, and switched to a tablet when I realized I'm spending tons of money on paper anyway and hurting the environment. Now notes are quick, I have time to really listen to the prof and write what they say, which is usually p important, and do my homework (trust me hmk is the most critical part of learning bc you apply what you're learning, and testing your knowledge of material). I'll be honest, flashcards are great, but I rarely have time to make them :( Anyway, sorry for the long winded answer. If anyone else sees this, please consider what I wrote! This helped me so much because I went from studying a lot and getting 50's to at least being able to get B's and A's! Because hard work isn't always enough for grades, you need to be strategic too. :D Good luck with your studies!
I think everyone is very much interested in what you got for school, I know I am haha! I'm a sucker for a back to school haul so I hope you keep doing them while you're in university. BTW, yes to the file folder. It's a better alternative to a binder. You can also try the plastic folders with the 3 prongs, I used them when I was in college.

printer is a must, scissors, hole punch, punched pockets, plastic A4&A5 folders/wallets, at least 1 binder for home(much easier to flip through important handouts/printouts easily), glue(you never know when you'll need it). Covid is getting worse again, so I'd say better get everything you need soon-just in case.

I work as a academic coach and I want to tell you that the accordion folder you got is one of the best tools for organizational success (over binders for sure!!!) I also used one when I went to college and university and it worked well for me, so no it was not a bad buy in my opinion. Creating a Google account is also a great digital tool to play with to get yourself organized. It has docs, slides, calendar, etc and it’s amazing for keeping on track. Hi Megan! A bit of advice from me (med student second year) and my cousin (zoology student 3rd year) regarding how to handle the huge amount of information you’ll have to learn.
1. Always keep your notes organized and neat. Even if you don’t want to study after a class, make sure your notes are correct and put in order. At some point you’ll have to start and it will be easier to have everything prepared instead of scrambling around to find your notes and information.
2. Don’t leave more than 3 subjects for exam season. Try to study or at least read (but like pay attention and try to understand the info) your notes and learn stuff over the smester so you don’t have to cram a lot during exam week (more like weeks for us, we have 4 whole weeks filled with exams, practicals, orals; written etc). Out of all 11 subjects I have I never leave more than 3 to study during exam season.
3. Postit notes, crayons, pens, those narrow smaller post it notes you use to divide chapters or mark stuff in your books (the flags) and everything you use has to be colorful. I swear to you that colors will make it at least 30% easier to remember shit. Also, pastel is super cute, but those colors that make your eyes burn are more useful and your brain will notice them more easily.
4. Make a color scheme. Mine is smth like this red for general info and definitions, blue for adverse effects, green for treatment schemes, orange for symptoms etc
5. Study like you’re builiding a house. Start with the big obvious and easy stuff. The main ideas, and build around them. If you start with details you’ll get lost. You don’t start furnishing and building untill the foundation is solid.
6. If you get behind on a subject or fail an exam fuck it. We’re people and we make mistakes. Ignore the failure and focus on the next one. Don’t waste time crying over that grade. It will take away from your energy to study for the rest of the exams. You can cry after you’re done with everything if you must. However a grade is just a grade.
7. You’ll have teachers that make snide comments about how “this isn’t for
you”, “you’re not made for this, you’re not ready, you’re too slow, you make too many mistakes etc”. Some of them will be more subtle some will be more direct. Ignore them. Their opinion has nothing to do with the truth.

I think the organizer is a good idea but it might be too bulky to carry around. I liked having individual folders for loose papers in addition to a notebook for each class because it was super easy to fit in my backpack. But some professors gave out way too many papers so I ended up using binders instead of a notebook and folder depending on the class. I always had to play it by ear at the beginning of a new semester.

Loved this video!!! I personally would always take a school supply/stationery haul over any other type of haul 😂. Also I definitely think the expanding folder is a great idea - I used one in high school and college for organizing papers and it’s way better than individual folders that can get bent or forgotten/lost/mixed up more easily.
Lol at the backpack exchange thing. Happened to me last year as well. I started med school last year and I wanted a unique backpack. Something quirky andn colorful and elegant. Bought something similar to what you had. The saleswoman told me several times to get it in black or white because it works better. When I came back with it the next day to exchange it she was like “they’re all sold out, sorry”. I almost cried and then she was like “just kidding we got new stock haha. I told you you’ll want the black”. Lmao, my mom thought that was rude but I found it hilarious. We have the same sense of humor.

On another note I also found a calendar to put above my desk and it’s soooo helpful. Aside from my planner this has been a lifesaver.
My classes are also all online and you mentioned a printer I highly recommend getting one as there will most likely be a lot of reading you will need to do and if your anything like me I need to have the physical paper in order to process my readings instead of reading them on a computer. A printer is a must

Good luck on your new journey! I love all the stuff you bought. When I was in university we used to write on A4 paper sheet and then we use staple together each corner. Like this was more easy and practical to study , easy to find a particular course... The organizer you’ll need for sure :). Good luck!

I love stationary hauls! I love all school content and it's just really refreshing to see someone approach school in a less rigid way. I'd love to join in on a ''study with you" stream one day!
My stationary tips:
- Sticky notes of different sizes! They're super handy, but sometimes you need little ones to flag texts and it can be annoying to have to use a giant one lol. And tiny ones I find super useful when you're going over your notes and have a question that you don't want to forget but you don't want to actually write it on the page.
- YesStyle has undated Mini Schedule Note Pad in their stationery section and they're serious lifesavers. Whenever my brain felt overwhelmed by how much I had to do that week, it was really nice to brain dump a schedule on the notepad. They're tiny though!
- Everything was digital at my school, so I had to worry more about how I organized my digital spaces. Often, I would just upload scans I made using my iPhone's note and put them in a google drive. But I did have an upright magazine holder for my folders with papers I was using at the moment + notebooks to make my space look tidy.

It's always a good idea to know yourself. Sometimes we can get pushed into things by others that are very certain of what they think is good for us. And then we're miserable. We have to do what makes us happy, as long as it is a responsible, well-thought out decision. And hey--getting school supplies is always exciting! Those expandable folders are great for organizing bills, lol. At least that's what I use them for.🙂
