The song is about when Axl broke up with a girl he dated that is actually tattooed on his arm. The same girl also dated original GNR rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin. It was the first song ever written by GNR when the band formed in 1985.
Also, many people might not realize that it was the girl who was telling Axl "don't cry", because he was becoming so emotional when they were breaking up.
Clicked on this immediately when I saw it haha. Fun fact this was the first song that was written for guns n roses probably in 1985/86 but didn’t get released until 1991
I love when you say, "great legs". People often make fun of Axl's short shorts, but I think it's badass. It shows his epic level of confidence and swagger in his body and presence. Most other male musicians or performers don't have the balls, or legs, to pull it off.
The music video is awesome. A bit more polished. This is actually part of a trilogy of ballards. Dont Cry, November Rain and Estranged. In this order. It tells a story of love, heartbreak, loss and grief. Estranged is Guns N Roses most epic song. Comma is another epic song. One of their darkest songs IMO.
Yeah, I almost think of Axl as a rock n roll athlete, given how much he tended to run around the stage. His level of physical performance, while singing as he did, boggles my mind.
Awesome reaction :) GnR always rock. Their live performances have always been more raw than their album versions which are more smooth/ polished, so you can always get some of both worlds. Axl also has a lot of energy (to this day he still runs on stage). Also, since Axl has gone through a lot of trauma in his life, I think he really used to put some of his pain/ anger into his live performances, and it is certainly felt while watching & listening to him. Nowdays, he is a lot happier & calmer (he has worked through his anger issues, and turned his life around, for the better), so his happiness is clearly felt during GnR's performances in later years. I love all of it from all the various GnR eras. Regarding Axl's clothes, he has always been unique & he does change it up from time to time. the concert shorts are an early 90's clothes era for him. Please react to more GnR :)
ALRIGHT, !! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Guns and Roses! Ya can't go wrong with Guns. Thank you, Aileen for this little glimpse back to a cool yeateryear, Still liking your style. Cool top btw. Take it easy. Big shoutout from this longhaired rocker hippy dude in the mountains of East Tennessee. Can't wait for the next. Peace and love, Aileen. Keep-a-rockin. Later.
Original Studio with Shannon Hoon from Blind melon 🔥🔥 both from layette Indiana btw, more reactors need more Blind Melon in their lives!! Soup performance from Woodstock is a great place to start
I seen Guns N’ Roses perform live outdoors in Sydney Australia in 1993 as part of their “USE YOUR ILLUSION” tour. Probably one of the best concerts that I’ve been to in my life and let’s just say I have been to somewhere over 500 concerts in my lifetime. And even though I am now well over 50 I’ve already seen well over 30 concerts this year alone including probably the last tour by Belinda Carlisle and also Olivia Rodrigo on her guts tour I also have tickets for early next year to see Billie Eilish on her current tour when she gets to Australia and my friend ✨Aurora✨ this will be the 29th concert of hers I have been to having followed her to many countries to watch her perform and hang out with her afterwards which has been a highlight in my life. The great thing about seeing Guns N’ Roses during that tour was that it was when they were still very relevant and still in the charts in a major way with many great songs being performed. I see Metallica a couple of years before that and they were amazing too.
Axl strode through the tones and timbres in this performance, he was really good, the low tones were pleasant to listen to and the high tones were furious, with a lot of power, his running around the stage didn't distract him. The whole band was very harmonious in this show.
In 1992, we, 2 car loads of us, drove from Queensland, down to NSW, to see gunnas. 12 hour drive. It was the best concert I had ever been too. Eastern Creek, New South Wales. Thank you for your reaction. Cheers Australia.
The fact you recognize that "crazy" people have the most talent proves the old adage "there's a thin line between genius and insanity"!! Blessed Be, & Peace!! 🙏☮
There was something special about the original Guns N' Roses - they were honest and wrote from the heart and from real experiences... and they did not give a flying f+++ what u thought about them... They were also f+++ed up from drinking and using drugs, and they made no attempt to hide that fact... They wrote songs about the fast life ('Mr. Brownstone' ... 'Night train' ... 'Rocket queen' ... "It's so easy") but they also had their moments of vulnerability w/ songs like "Sweet child o' mine"... 'Patience' ... 'Think about you' ... "Don't cry"... L.A. bands that knew them called Guns N' Roses 'the real deal' cos they lived the reckless life and it put them a step above everyone else. It was a pity that the original GNR did not last... W. Axl Rose (vocals), Slash (lead guitar), Duff McKagan (bass), Izzy Stradlin (rhythm guitar) and Steven Adler (drums)... drugs, egos and infighting tore the band apart in a few years. Steven Adler was fired in 1990 for abusing drugs which left him unable to play in the studio... Izzy Stradlin quit in 1991 feeling 'oppressed' by Axl Rose's demands and feeling like he would be unable to maintain his sobriety in a band that was abusing drugs and alcohol on tour... Slash was fired in 1996 after a bitter falling out w/ Axl Rose and Duff McKagan left shortly after... All that potential was wasted. Axl, Slash and Duff reunited in Guns N' Roses and are still touring... However, new music from Guns N' Roses is still slow to come... Slash and Duff McKagan have released solo albums under various names.
Good wonder morning Aileen this woke me up and now I’m ready for work amazing reaction as always keep up the amazing work because your and amazing person
Great reaction Aileen, I'm that old I had this tour on VHS lol. I was eleven in 92 🤫. not sure if you've seen it but Slash playing the theme from 'the Godfather' is just mind blowing. ❤
Best presentation, best show I've ever seen, they're not from my generation, but I had the DVDs, CDs and playlist of all the songs by the band Guns N' Roses. This live show in Tokyo was the best in every way, stage presence, well presented images, the peak of the band at its best, they even made Rock in Rio here in Brazil spectacular, my mother was and without a doubt one of my favorite bands and I am very inspired by Slash to play the guitar (even though it is pentatonic, but it is a scale that he knows how to use very wisely, for example, Sweet Child Mine is weak at playing scales, but he knows how to play and uses this pentatonic scale as nobody ) great work on the reaction, I agree with everything you said, a hug from Brazil and a reaction tip for Gabriel Henrique on America Got Talent where he won the gold button and is recognized as one of the best singers in the world, if you react, you won't be disappointed. Hugs from Brazil, Nova Friburgo/RJ.
Nobody better than Guns N' Roses or Axl Rose!!! Also a suggestion to Guns N' Roses Coma in concert Coma is the best song they ever did. Or You Could Be Mine in concert.
Well hello lovely lady. Good to see you. Gnr was the epitome of 80’s excess and the hard partying rockstar lifestyle. Their backstage and hotel parties were legendary.
8:12 - Running and jumping and spinning around while singing was very normal, back in the day. Watch the entire concert (somewhere on YT) or the Paris concert.
Don’t ever apologize for being yourself you got a lot to say and a short window to say in and when you do this in one go sometimes it comes out a bit messy but that’s all right you’re trying to organize your thoughts on the fly but it’s genuine and it’s fun to so keep it up
Awesome to see and hear you again ❤ always a pleasure to see you at work doing a great job as always loving your review on guns and roses 🌹 thank you for your presence california ed
Heard this masterpiece live at one of there concerts a few years back... Made me think of my mom who passed away in 2016 & i cried my eyes out...though one for sure 😔
You should watch the entire Guns n Roses 1992 Tokyo concert, whether you react to it or just to enjoy. It’s one of the best I still watch it weekly. (Love Axl in his tight little shorts).
Believe it or not that was Axl down to about 70% max on his voice. This tour was ridiculous, over two and a half years round the world TWICE! This was still great and it takes me back to seeing them at Wembley the year before at the beginning of this tour, which was the last gig original rhythm guitarist Izzyv Stradlin ever played with them.
Axl always seems to be underrated in the vocals greats. Same with slash nowadays too. Gnr were a fresh sound when appetite came out in 87. Everything was the shred guitar glam metal sound, and gnr came out fresh with gritty rock n roll at the right time. One of the best albums of all time, easily. Great stuff!
Axles ability to hit the notes he hits, and to do it while running around on stage like a madman was his staple. He has a great performer, if a bit of a diva (massive diva lol).
Hey there, love your reactions. You should look up something from live in Paris ‘92. I recommend to you november rain with the piano intro «its alright».
Saw Guns several times in the late 80’s, early 90’s, as a kid. Sadly Axl usually got upset about the security or something else and would storm off the stage and not finish the show. I guess that was all part of the GNR “experience.” But when he wasn’t wrapped up in his drama he (and the whole group) absolutely killed it!
This concert was absolutely amazing! And I love this song in this version. GNR were so good live at that time and with these absolutely perfect backup singers they were just perfect. The girls had such good voices and were incredibly sexy. Please more from this concert "Nightrain" "Rocket Queen" "November Rain" "Estranged" and more. Also watch GNR live in Paris "Civil War"
ha yes i never understood the bare leg thing with axle but u do get hot while working on stage btw Slashes guitar work was amazingly perfect almost surreal
The best version for me not because of the sound but becasue of the time in the concert was in paris, where they just did 2 heavy songs with Aerosmith. Then doing Dont cry created a great solemn atmosphere....
Hi Aileen 😊 Absolutely fabulous reaction to Guns n' Roses Don't Cry 😊👍 After watching your reaction with no audio and reading the transcript at work yesterday, I got home and watched the reaction a couple times, went to bed, and then watched again this morning. First, I read all the comments because I wanted to see how everyone reacted to you coming back after a while and there is so much love for you which is very very heartening. To your question about the substances and libations backstage during that time period, I would say cocaine for making you feel like a Superman and maybe Mr Jack's old number 7 to start with for some liquid courage. You're mention of dragging on a cigarette by playing guitar looking really cool and also mentioned in the comments by fellow RUclipsr... Eddie Van Halen was one that did that back in the seventies and I'm sure inspired others as well going forward. As and a side note... I would say nicotine is another juice that performers and songwriters used to heighten their creativity and energy. Others in the comments singled out your presentation as a whole from the choice of your wardrobe, your style, your creativity, your mannerisms, and your confidence in speaking your mind as to what you feel, hear and see in the video. After all, what the visitor is coming to see is a reaction and this is how you yourself react. This is what makes you special and the best and very unique. All the recommendations are fantastic 😊👍 And as always I look forward to your reactions 😊👍 I have to agree with a lot of them in the comments that the next reaction to Guns n' Roses should be the song Estranged to complete the trilogy story since you have now experienced Don't Cry and November Rain. Have a great day you and Arya with much love 😊👍💪❤️
That was Axel's thing, during live performances. He'd sprint from one end of the stage to the other and he'd be panting from being out of breath. Still always hit every note.
Estranged definitely. And on another note, have you heard any Mad Season? Layne Staleys other group. River of deceit, or wake up would be good tracks to start.
One of the greatest bands of this era, who toured with GNR, is Faith No More. If you want your mind blown by arguably the best frontman ever, check out “The Real Thing live in Brixton.” Mike Patton is phenomenal!
Yay, Aileen is back, as are the devil horns headset! Hope you are doing well,. This is one that I am not sure I am familiar with and is an amazing song and I loved your reaction and connection with what you listen to. IF you haven't done it already, I would recommending reacting to Because the Night by Patti Smith.
if you think Axl sprinting across the stag is great then you should watch the full concert and see Slash sprint across the stag and off trying to go into the crowd with security stopping him. plus the best part of that full concert is Mat's drum solo and Slash's guitar solo
Duff McKagan the bassist you see smoking in the video got in such bad shape he had severe alcohol induced pancreatitis (life threateningly bad),, but eventually got his stuff together and has become one of the healthier and more fit rock stars out there.
This is part of a trilogy.
Don't Cry
November Rain
Estranged
Estranged might be GnR's best imo. Good stuff
@@michaelsandar Indeed.
There was also another version of Don't Cry.... Don't Forget... hahahaha! But yeah, it's a beautiful story!
Their best lead guitar work right there and the competition is tough
@@seanwallaceseanie40🤦♂️
The song is about when Axl broke up with a girl he dated that is actually tattooed on his arm. The same girl also dated original GNR rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin. It was the first song ever written by GNR when the band formed in 1985.
You could be mine was already halfway done in 1983. Some old parts were written down earlier...
Also, many people might not realize that it was the girl who was telling Axl "don't cry", because he was becoming so emotional when they were breaking up.
I think Izzy Stradlin wrote the opening guitar riff. ❤❤
Thats actually a pretty lame back story
one of the best singers of all time. Crazy vocal range
"Estranged" from this same concert is probably one of the most impressive live performances you'll ever see. Highly recommend giving it a look
It is one
Clicked on this immediately when I saw it haha. Fun fact this was the first song that was written for guns n roses probably in 1985/86 but didn’t get released until 1991
Hay una versión de 1985 en un bar, antes de la fama
True
Guns ´n Roses in Vienna 1992 - my first concert at the age of 8 😊
Hats off to that!
Awesome
Prime Axl there is hard to beat
True

1987 guns n roses at the ritz..rocket queen that's Guns nFuckn roses
Axl always ran marathons during his concerts. amazing band and long time fan here! ty for the reaction! keep up the live reactions
Axl still has a lot of energy on stage. I love GnR :)
Then smoked cigarettes all day lol 😝 I love Rock n Roll
Yeah, I almost think of Axl as a rock n roll athlete, given how much he tended to run around the stage. His level of physical performance, while singing as he did, boggles my mind.
So many Tokyo 1992 performances deserve to be seen, Rocket Queen, Sweet Child o Mine, Welcome to the jungle, Nightrain are all must see
Things feel right again seeing your notifications pop up for RUclips again 🖤🖤
70% of people that saw guns live in the 90’s never saw a performance like that because of how Axel behaved !!!
Awesome reaction :)
GnR always rock. Their live performances have always been more raw than their album versions which are more smooth/ polished, so you can always get some of both worlds.

HELL YEAH! now you need to end the trilogy. Estranged live in Tokyo 92 is the best version
Original Studio with Shannon Hoon from Blind melon 🔥🔥 both from layette Indiana btw, more reactors need more Blind Melon in their lives!! Soup performance from Woodstock is a great place to start
GnR Paradise City and Knockin On Heavens Door from the Freddie Mercury tribute are must watch performances.
Oh my god. I'll take a AileenSenpai watching GNR video every day of my life. Thank you. lol

the album version is so great imo because Shannon Hoon from Blind Melon is on back up vocals. Goes with Axls range perfectly.
Axel was so such an incredible singer and showman in the 90's 🤘🙏👏😁
"I don't wanna leave him unattended" made me chuckle for quite awhile 😅
He is abit impish 😁
In 1992, we, 2 car loads of us, drove from Queensland, down to NSW, to see gunnas. 12 hour drive. It was the best concert I had ever been too. Eastern Creek, New South Wales. Thank you for your reaction. Cheers Australia.

December of 87 in Chicago!!! I was 16 and my dad drove 4 of my friends and I 200 miles!! Such great memories!!
Yesss, new upload 😊 Love GNR
Sweeet Child O' Mine live in Tokyo is a MUST 👍👍👌👌
he sounds awful there perfoming this song to be honest. Too hoarsely, it looks like he tired at that moment of the concert
Crazy thing about this concert was they said axl was sick. Even tho he sounded just as good and didn't lip sync like other singers
6:35 “The guitars were doing the crying instead”
It hits.

good to see you again dear, and reacting to the best live version of Don't Cry ⭐🎶
Missed you, too! 😎Hope you enjoyed the break, always good to recharge one's batteries. Nice to have you back. 🎈
Welcome back :) great reaction!
You should watch that whole show. I wore out 2 copies of it on VHS and it was one of the first DVD's I bought 🤘😃
Nobody better than Guns N' Roses or Axl Rose!!! Also a suggestion to Guns N' Roses Coma in concert Coma is the best song they ever did. Or You Could Be Mine in concert.
More of live tokyo 1992!
Well hello lovely lady. Good to see you.
Gnr was the epitome of 80’s excess and the hard partying rockstar lifestyle. Their backstage and hotel parties were legendary.
I listened to these albums so many times as a teenager I literally have every single note of Slash's solos memorised.
Glad to see you back. Missed you big time. Enjoy your reactions so much. It's a joy to see someone absorb music as it should be. ♥️
8:12 - Running and jumping and spinning around while singing was very normal, back in the day. Watch the entire concert (somewhere on YT) or the Paris concert.
Watch the Chicago one, with Coma live, from 1992
The first song ever written by Guns!
Don’t ever apologize for being yourself you got a lot to say and a short window to say in and when you do this in one go sometimes it comes out a bit messy but that’s all right you’re trying to organize your thoughts on the fly but it’s genuine and it’s fun to so keep it up

Hey can you do more NF please? Simply seeing your reaction while watching his videos makes me appreciating all of this so much! 🫶❤❤❤
This is part of the November Rain trilogy
Ohhh you been missing out for so long!!!! I grew up with this band !! ❤
Love this song, but strangely enough, they did an alternate lyrics version on Use Your Illusion 2 that I actually preferred lol.
This is such a beautiful and powerful song!! I adored your reaction. You are always so sweet and stunning Hun!! 🌹🌹🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
You should watch the entire Guns n Roses 1992 Tokyo concert, whether you react to it or just to enjoy. It’s one of the best I still watch it weekly. (Love Axl in his tight little shorts).
One of the biggest rock bands of all time...🤘rock on glad your back aileen senpai 🎉
My goosebumps have got goosebumps

this universal, u can singing while looking mirror and talk to yourself: "dont cry baby"....

Gn'R for life!
I'd really love to see your reaction to "Coma", also by guns & roses!
Aileen soy tu fan me encantan tus videos !!
First to comment my love for GnR! Another great reaction

Fun fact. On the recorded version. Shannon Hoon of blind melon does backing vocals. He's even in the music video

Now you need to react to the song “Sweet Child o’Mine”. It was their only number 1 song
Good to have you back
if you think Axl sprinting across the stag is great then you should watch the full concert and see Slash sprint across the stag and off trying to go into the crowd with security stopping him. plus the best part of that full concert is Mat's drum solo and Slash's guitar solo
Duff McKagan the bassist you see smoking in the video got in such bad shape he had severe alcohol induced pancreatitis (life threateningly bad),, but eventually got his stuff together and has become one of the healthier and more fit rock stars out there.
Love your reactions! Would love to see more NF!
