- I'm not sure how I've not been to Lyme Park before?! This parkrun has been around for almost a decade and it is stunning! The parkrun partnership with the National Trust means we get to parkrun in some of the most spectacular places in the country and I am so grateful.
Lyme Park is 100% trail, very muddy at this time of year, and is far from flat... but you mustn't let you the hills and mud keep you away! Make no mistake, this is a parkrun gem! I absolutely love trail running and the variation in course here is gorgeous. The wildness up on the moor, and the views down into Manchester and out across the Peak District National Park are breathtakingly beautiful and The Cage is such an impressive building. This is a parkrun you won't forget.
After parkrun a visit to the house and gardens is highly recommended. You can step right into Pride and Prejudice, and the formal gardens and Orangery are not to be missed!
I can't recommend a visit to Lyme Park parkrun enough, it has to be seen to be believed.
Happy running,
Nicola :)
Thankyou Nicola and Poppy, if I feel a bit down watching your videos always cheers me up.
Sorry to hear you feel down 😔 but I'm pleased we helped cheer you up 🤗
Fair play to them marshalls for being out on those exposed hills. Looks like a good one. Thanks for vlogging.
Definitely, a hardy breed! The marshal at the Cage was very pleased it was there to shelter behind! 🙃
This one is definitely going on my wishlist! The Cage swung it. Thanks for sharing.
Isn't the cage just awesome?! I loved it more than the main house! 😍
I loved tough Lyme parkrun great Manchester views. Really enjoyed this video glad you had such a great time even in tough conditions well done to all taking part and volunteering in the wind and rain!
Thanks. Yes the weather was less than ideal, I really felt for the volunteers! Like you say it's tough but worth it for those views 😍😃
Great video Nicola, stunning moorland scenery. From sideways rain to ice cream in a few hours is impressive. Glad the cow trigger warning proved to be a false alarm
I was so scared that the cows would be there!!! I was so relieved! Lol... There's no weather too bad for ice cream 😉 but we were so pleased that the weather brightened up!
Wow, what a location! A little chilly for the girls though, and much respoct to them for pushing through the rain and cold!!!!
I though the start was funny...
"Ready" (people start moving)
"3..." (walking forward)
"2" (already over the line)
"1" (Running)
"Go" 😊
Ha ha 🤣 and it was 800m uphill so I'm not sure why they were in such a hurry! 😂 Awww you're right about the girls... Mummy my cheeks are numb! Bless her! ❤️
Looks stunning. I love that 'feeling alive' feeling you get when out in tough conditions.
Yes! It's awesome isn't it! We did a loop up to the Old Man of Coniston in gale force winds and it was awesome! Something I'll always remember 😃
Beautiful! 😍 Thank you.
It's a stunner isn't it! 😍😍😍
Beautiful looking parkrun, these are the runs I really like, not great on speed but just a really enjoyable looking run!
Yay for Cooldown!
Yay for cooldown indeed! I totally agree, these are the special ones that you remember 😍
Oh lovely - am gonna have to head up that way some time soon! Thanks for sharing.
Oh you must, this is an absolutely spectacular parkrun 😍😍😍
Wow!!!! That's a parkrun I would love to do. It's like a proper trail run! I can't believe it's actually classed as a parkrun. I am not normally a fan of parkruns because I am not keen on loops on the tarmack. But this is somewhere I wouldn't mind doing a parkrun.
It's ridiculously gorgeous! A 1 lapper on trail with hills, mud, and beautiful views... What's not to love?! 😍😍😍
Wow, what a nice bunch of views! Thank you for the tours and I will look forward to the next time you are there!
Thanks, stunning isn't it?! 😍😍😍
Beautiful parkrun. I’m looking forward to seeing what else you & Poppy find there next time. Add Trentham Gardens to your list too. There’s lots of interesting things to see there too including monkeys !
Thanks Matt... It's already on the list because of the fairies! 😍😃
Since the beginning of April 2023 there are also beavers in the lake! I'd definitely say that Trentham Gardens is one of the top 3 parkruns to do in North Staffordshire.
I always like Sunday to get your videos another great video which had everything all different weather great views and great parkrun you make easy for people want to do
Thanks 😊 If people visit here they will LOVE it! It's just spectacular 😍
Oh I love Lyme Park - so beautiful! Not done the parkrun though so definitely would like to do that now! But it does look tough! Great video 😊
Thanks, can't recommend the parkrun highly enough! I love that the parkrun takes in lots of the grounds that you might not necessarily focus on 😍
This one looked like a really good park run, once you got in 😂 And who doesn’t love a good park café especially ones that sell cinnamon swirls. Thanks for sharing another one Nicola 😊. Until the next one take care.
Thanks Tony, yes it was awesome... would love to visit on a sunny day! Guess what... I used to not like cinnamon swirls?! I used to not like cinnamon! What was I thinking?! It's delicious 😋
@@NicolaRuns well at least you’ve now seen the cinnamon light 😂
@@tonystrange7224 better late than never! 🤣
That looks a great parkrun. It's just been put into my 'must-visit' list. Enjoyed your positivity throughout the run 😁👊
Oh yay! You'll love it! It's honestly just a spectacular place to run 😃
Was just there last parkrunday. Best weather of the year so far. 22 times I've run it and the view from the cage really never gets old. It used to be our home until pivi Gardens started last November. Will be here for my 100th parkrun in July hopefully.
You're so lucky! I'd love to live closer 😍😍😍
I love and hate loop courses. Love them because you never cover the same ground and hate them because my nearest ones are so seriously hilly. Another great video from you and Poppy.
Lol I know what you mean... Poppy prefers when there's at least 2 laps but 1 lappers are my favourite because you see so much more. It feels more like exploring to me which I find exciting 😃 And lol... I have a love hate relationship with hills 🤣
One of my locals, and favourites. Did the trial and tailwalked the inaugural. The path by wall after coming through the wood is fantastic, as well as views from the cage.
I really wish I lived closer! Although if I ran there loads then the probability of seeing the cows would be a lot higher! 🤔🤣
Wow, what a spectacular parkrun though not one if your looking for a fast time. It reminds me a bit of a parkrun in Surrey in the grounds of a Vineyard just a short walk from the office I worked in may years ago though I don't think the hills are quite as steep as at Lyme Park. Love the fact that there such a variety of parkruns, fast, slow, hilly, tarmac, trail, grass etc.
It's what makes parkrunworld so great! 😃 You're right... This isn't a PB course! 🤣
Lyme Park is stunning, one of my favourite (and slowest) Parkruns! Each time I go I reckon I can tackle that first hill - I'm such a fool haha. The technical sections, including the downhill from The Cage, are wonderful :)
Aren't they?! I love the technical sections... Makes you feel like a child! That's the real joy of running 😃
Wow...that really did look awesome. I googled "The Cage" too and it has a really interesting history. I always have extra admiration for those volunteers when the weather isn't cooperating. Thanks Nicola and Popster for bringing us this great video. (I also think Walter is a great name for a dog)
The history is fascinating isn't it?! The house is Pemberley in Pride and Prejudice too. The volunteers were definitely heroes that day! So cold and wet! And I totally agree, Walter is an ace doggy name... Although apparently so is Poppy! 🤣🤣🤣
@@NicolaRuns yeah I have a Poppy, Molly and Rupert. Maybe a Nicola for my next puppy!
@@Mookiethedog lol, that'd be ace! Poppy gets so confused all the time by people calling out Poppy... She thinks they're calling her but they're just calling their dog 🤣
@@NicolaRuns if I had had a daughter I’d have called her Poppy. I think that’s why I’m a big fan of your Poppy! I have two good friends called Molly (other than my dog) and they say the same thing about hearing “Molly” all the time at dog parks
@@Mookiethedog my niece is called Molly, it's a lovely name 😀 Poppy was going to be Jessica but when she was born she just wasn't a Jessica! She was Poppy 🥰
Looks fabulous! We don't have any parkruns like this in Poland.
You'll have to come for a visit 😃
@@NicolaRuns It will go on the pile together with many many others that I've seen in your videos and elsewhere!
@@arrontrevor7086 this one should go near the top of the list! 😜
Well done on not blowing away , thought you were going to lose your hair lol , i had some ice cream too earlier , Tesco belgian orange chocolate , give it a bash next time you are there , its yum .Sending a huge amount of yays and hoorays to you as always, 😊
Oh my goodness that sounds incredible! Chocolate orange is my favourite! 😋
@@NicolaRuns Yeah its really good , its like 4 euros here in ireland so id imagine in england its even cheaper ha ha Id recommend you give it a try .
@@bren70ssss94 Alexa... Add chocolate orange ice cream to shopping list 😋
@@NicolaRuns don't forget it's Tesco own brand , we'll have to start a ice cream channel lol , have a great week 😉
@@bren70ssss94 ooh... Ice cream channel you say?! I'm in! After the parkrun in Milan the café had the BEST gelato for 1 euro per scoop! We were VERY happy that day! 🍨🍨🍨
You have been in cheshire a few times but you haven't done northwich or delamere parkruns, both lovely corses
Thanks for the recommendations 😃
Out of all the parkruns you and Poppy had ran which one would have been your favorite?
It was Fountains Abbey but in a few videos time you'll see my new favourite! 😱😃
Relatively local and... actually my least favourite parkrun. Glad you caught it on a much nicer day than I did though, I can understand why others like it, even if it was traumatic for me! (I simply won't go within 250m or so of The Cage ever since)
Oh my goodness... What happened?! Why traumatic?! I did wonder how I would have felt if the cows were there 🤦🏻♀️🤣 probably traumatised!
@@NicolaRuns The weather turned about 8:30 as Storm Dennis rolled in, and I was a totally new runner at the time, didn't even really know trail shoes were a thing. First half was okay but got to The Cage, gale force winds (tail wind as well trying to wipe out my legs going down the hill), hard driving rain and absolutely zero grip under foot in road shoes on the sodden surface. Tbh, wanted to find a way to shelter in The Cage and call Mountain Rescue, it had turned that badly.
@@JasonCliftJones is it bad that this made me laugh 🤣 it sounds like one of those runs where everything just goes wrong! You have to laugh or you'll cry! 🙃
@@NicolaRuns It's long enough ago that you're fine, though I was very much ready to throw my shoes in the bin at the end of it. I didn't run at all for 2 weeks after that, and then only cos a friend (who I was with at FAbbey last week) needed a guide runner. Not usually meant to come away from a parkrun wanting to never run again!
@@JasonCliftJones no that's really unusual! Sorry the weather gods tried to ruin your parkrun journey! Well done for sticking with it 💪
Wow you really get your value for money on this parkrun.
Don't you just?! And then some! 😍😍😍
Hi
I want to try a Parkrun you can walk in them too.
Isn't Parkrun world recognized?
Thank you.
Tristan
Oh yes you can definitely walk them! In October last year they did the parkwalk initiative to try to bring more awareness to the fact that you can walk because the name maybe suggests otherwise. Our friends walked this one with Poppy and took over an hour... You can complete parkrun at whatever speed is good for you. Sometimes I want to run really hard and sometimes we walk 😃
