Excellent sound -. an a great how-to video - i love Qubit and i want want want want a SCANNED so effing nbad in my system - ... i mean the concept alone is just so beautiful !
Sounds great. Am I correct that Surace only does short / plucky / trigger sounds (with a longer decay when when adjusted) But no holding / gated notes? Sorry for the noob question I am rather new to this :)
No worries! We all started somewhere and nobody understands better that the best way to learn is to ask the important questions. As far as I know you cannot get a sustained note from Surface, but it could be that its "Dark Mode" offers some of the functionality you're looking for. As Surface is mostly focused on synthesizing physical sounds it would make sense that it only offers triggered sounds but it could also be that alternative firmwares offer more functionality.
@@TheModularClubhouse thanks 👍 . Looking forward to your video to see what's new. Love this module. Keep up the good work, u r doing an outstanding job.
Apart from the Karplus-Strong synthesis they really don't compare. In that regard Rings has more parameters to tweak, while Surface has the ability to more different type of sounds. If you're more into dedicated modules I'd stick to Rings, but if you want to CV change 'instruments' in the way you can do with CYO or Plonk, Surface will be the better choice.
@@TheModularClubhouse so i tried to calibrate it and update the firmware but when i press connect through daisy there is no fsb there is only a hd webcam option...???
ive tried different usb cables different computers ive used my chrome book updated version got no fs mode Ive checked the forums and read through threads. It seems that with chrome it should work... idunno @@TheModularClubhouse
so I got a new cable and I was able to upload the zip file from surface but when I clicked reset like you did in your video it does not come out of boot mode any suggestions @@TheModularClubhouse
Absolutely a good question: I would always recommend to reach out to the Qubit support team. They are phenomenal, so I expect they will be able to assist you in no time.

Why is the official fw only 1.11?
Thanks, good question. I will check.
How does it compare with Rings/Rings clones?
Fair question, unfortunately I haven't used Rings (yet) so I would not be able to give an educated answer.
