Is there a way to offload or access the loops from the 2hp loop module? I notice a usb on the back in some pictures but couldn't find much documentation about this.
sounds OK but not as good as the price the manufacturer ask for this module
Hi Jesper! Your review on Thomann brought me here ✌🏻
I assume this works the same way if you’re running vcv rack as a vst plugin in Ableton?
Can you chain another case or would case 2 need its own power?
Oct 2024 just ordered one.
I just checked the Plaits manual. As far as I understand, you cannot send an AD/ADSR/etc. envelope to Plaits' LPG. Is that correct? If I'm not mistaken, it can only do the bongo-style envelope (decay only), right?
Very useful video... Thank you. Understanding my Pam ..better now! Cheers
Hey... my feedback is that this demo is not in pursuit of the intrinsic 'character' of this particular filter... but more an exposition of filters in general. You may as well have called it 'how filters (generally) work' (and from an analytical and mathmatical perspective). There are so many videos out there like this already... and the vast majority of us already know thus stuff. Should you want to make a vid on this 'particular' filter... then we just need to hear how it responds and sounds to as wide a range of different program material as possible. Not a dis.... but just a hopefully constructive observation. 👍
Thanks for the feedback. Useable and very constructive. Much appreciated.
Pretty fresh man.
You should at least have given the names of the devices you used. It is not clear to hear what you are using to set up the clock. I am new to the modules. You don't pan the video to show what you plug in where..
Great explainer video, thank you.
Good one. You said something interesting at the start, about how "purists are saying you should use Maths this way or another" - I am really interested what did you mean by that, I never heard anyone saying "do not use function generator for mixing audio signals" or smt like that, but I would like to know what is it you heard. People are so weird sometimes with these "rules". But Maths being what it is, I can't think of a thing you "aren't supposed to do with it" - if it does the job, and sounds right, just do it lol. Also, while I appreciate making the video is hard (I tried and gave up) and please do not get this as critique, if you have Mordax, you might want to have everything from birds-eye view rather than from this angle, as well as simplify patching a bit or pre patch, it is hard to follow what you were trying to demonstrate (although I know well what you wanted to do with envelope follower and side chaining). Just a friendly comment from a fellow modular nerd, I wish you all the best in content creation:)
All the documentation and discussion on this explicitly says this does not track volt per octave and that is on purpose by design. So the pitch input should not be called volt per octave,
You’re absolutely right. Thanks for pointing that out.
Where are the other two videos?
2 years and no follow up video. Would really love to know more about this module but every video out on it barely scratches the surface.
I know this can invert but can you scale the imverted signal?
I really want one of these but holy cow they are expensive. Nearly $300 for a relatively basic filter is hard to stomach.
5:50 where did you select+load the samples from? did you download them separately and individually input in the software?
Watch them come out with special edition colors. You won't be able to help yourself.
:D
Thanks for the video - it helps a lot. Got one of these units a week ago. Has an intially steep learning curve but well worthit.
Glad it helped
Hey, thanks for the demo. Can the 3xVCA also mix the three audio inputs from the final output?
7 Minutes of talking, 2 minutes sound and you even talk over that. Deep dive into you talking.
Yes brother! Em's some good bideojames 'splosions!
Thanks a lot for the interview, it was a super nice time! Cheers!
Any time!
12:20 amen to that clap …. I have the teenage engineering ep133 … I have the novation circuit Rhythym sampler…. I have the Arturia hybrid Sparkle +iSpark app… all of them great in their own way but I realise that THIS is what I need … I was thinking about the drum or beat volcas but I want to make my own sounds with my Microfreak ans them transfer to this…. Excellent channel excellent content 🙏
I've been struggling with my Morgasmatron's size at 20HP to achieve that gnarly filter sound and was really hoping this would solve it but I can't help and feel like the Morgasmatron still sounds better. I might still give this a shot though! The 4HP size is really hard to beat.
Absolutely DO the ANTIDOTE! There are probably still some floating around. I found a shop that has a couple and will definitely buy one for my guitar. Yes I use Eurorack as a guitar effect.
Very cool to listen to the self oscillation ... Are you crazy?
Depends on who you ask ;)
@@TheModularClubhouse no i mean physical pain.... Oh, i guess there is nothing what isn't.
I am pondering getting a eurorack bit crusher. I have the Hotone Krush pedal and it is phenomenal. The only drawback is that it has no way to modulate it and free my hands up. I literally have to PLAY it. This video is great for getting more knowledge about the Dystopia, yet, some elements were missing. I didn't understand the signal path fully. What plugs are inputs and what are outputs, also which is CV? I really want to wiggle that bit crusher with a couple envelopes. Perhaps my biggest issue with the dreadbox modules is that the signal path through them is fixed. Wish there was more versatility in that on my other ones. Would love to hear it used in a sample or two of music, especially a analog style drum machine sequence. Again, great video on this module. Still on the fence with this one - Thanks
Thanks a million Griffith, and you raise some very interesting questions ( and recommendations for any future videos ). What would be the best way to assist you? More than willing to jump on a video call to answer your questions :) Feel free to reach out to the email address on the channel.
Just off the top of my head. (Rereading what I wrote and apologize for the novel.) This is based off of being a documentary film maker. Been synthin' as a hobby for 40 years now. not trying to do a sales pitch, but you can see some of my film work on, The informal game channel. Merely saying I know a little bit about film making AND little bit about synths - still learning here. Create a standard procedure of what gets shown. I would first show a close up on the module and explain what the inputs are connected to. Most modules are very logically laid out. Usually they are not very complex once you get one in your hands and play with it. but the point of the video is that viewers do not have one in their hands and need to learn about it. In a video a simple overlay diagram of signal paths would really help. As I understand it, this module has just one input which bypasses the noise and then you have several out's for each function. If that is the case, one can't rout a signal through low pass filter and then rout it through the high pass to create a band pass, or is the idea to take the low and high out's and then mix them on the down stream side? That is really the only thing missing in the video is the need for an explanation of what each input/output does. Follow that with a simple signal path explanation. I own two chromatics, thus I assume this is like all others. Signal goes in. it goes to each section in a linear fashion and then you have an output. Somewhere there is a CV control for each section. Another big pet peeve which you do not do. Too many reviews put a module through effects. I see so many module reviews where it sounds really nice, but what you are hearing is a high end reverb smoothing everything out. I did also have to really think about where you were paching to. In some instances I could not tell what was going in or out because I was not sure what is an in or out on the bit crusher. Maybe be more clear about saying, "I am taking a voice sound and patching it here" or "This is a modulation source" You mention module names, but I do not have those modules. Over all your video was very clear. I recently watched another video and although it was not perfectly clear I was convinced I need the feedback/distortion unit in the video. When I got it, I honestly had a hard time getting anything interesting out of the module. I asked the youtuber what they were doing in specific instances in their vide, They told me they were using too complex a patch to explain it all to me. Well gee, that is no help at all. LOL I have finally learned my lesson on modules, even if they sound cool, the video may be edited where they cut to visuals. Also, if they do not show me CV ins, it's likely the module can't be patched for more interesting motion and free hands playing. I have watched several videos on this one module and yours is the most informative. You may consider adding some 10 second clips showing the sounds you can get in a variety of situations. My personal goal is to run a Korg ER-1 into my Eurorack and use a bit crusher that is being controlled by CV to create motion for my hardware device. My Hotone Skyline Krush is amazing, but it requires too much attention to sound good. I need my hands free to do other things. I am even thinking of using a midi channel and sequencing a note bend to control the effect, so that it is part of a composition. Again, not trying to do self promo on your channel. I posted some improvised music i did a while back on sound cloud. You can skip the beginning and listen at the middle where I use drum machine with bit crush just google this: Burn Fast Burn Fast Burn Fast Burn Fast The.synth.lord.chamber That was a happenstance open jam and I somehow decided the bit crush should go on the drum machine. Pleased it got recorded because now I want to do more with bit crush and drum machine and some bits and pieces in that are a good test reference. You are the second person to tell me to email, but I see no email on youtube channels. Hope you do not mind if i simply post here. Thanks, Griff

You can calibrate it but please feel free to reach out if you have trouble.

so I got a new cable and I was able to upload the zip file from surface but when I clicked reset like you did in your video it does not come out of boot mode any suggestions @@TheModularClubhouse
Absolutely a good question: I would always recommend to reach out to the Qubit support team. They are phenomenal, so I expect they will be able to assist you in no time.
I enjoy the moment where that part happens. Thanks for sharing that delicious spaghetti. 🎛️
Thanks for watching
what sequencer did you using?😮
Squarp Hermod (the original, not the plus)
Thank you Jesper !!!
It's an honour and a privilege :)
No MIDI output, what a shame, maybe a future expander?
I'll pass along the suggestion ;)
Wow. I See your Dreadbox Chronicle Video now. Wow. I have really understand now my modules. Thanks for this Videos❤
Glad it was helpful!
I've made several serious mistakes in this video and I want to thank the community for pointing them out. These videos are documenting my journey and the things I've learned along the way (and all the mistakes I made, and continue to make ;) ). I'll make this a sticky comment to make sure that people understand that.
I've also considered taking this video offline, but decided against it for two reasons: 1. it's still a valuable part of my path in better understanding synths, sounds, etc. and 2. for transparency.
Ratio is not wet/dry ! wtf! maybe read some more about compressors?
Yes, you're right. I've learned a lot about compression since releasing this video. I've kept it online as it documents my journey ( and my mistakes ;) ). I'll add a comment to the video explaining that.
This is amazing! Thanks a lot for introducing me to this!
Any time!
Sorry mate, the moment you mentioned that the ratio knob is a wet/dry.. I had to stop watching this... all the best!
No worries Jeffrey, I agree. I've learned a lot since I filmed this video and I think this is the video that contained the most errors and mistakes on my part. I thought about taking it offline but decided against it because I started this channel to document my journey into synths and eurorack, and mistakes will happen along the way. So I keep this online as a reminder that I never should stop learning. What I will do is add a disclaimer as I don't want to misinform. I'll have to think about what the disclaimer should say. Thanks again for your feedback.
All good. I guess no real judgement but the misinfornation is probably my biggest gripe. I highly value accurate information, but can appreciate you are documenting. It would be great to be able to caption on top after the fact when there are mistakes. Maybe in the next AI gen, there will be such features.
Never seen these on display anywhere.
One more question about Plaits! Could you patch its output to a Low Pass Gate & get the same notes in a lower octave? or would you need a different/seperate oscillator?
Good question, as far as I understand Low Pass Gates they will not change the actual pitch of the sound (as in: they work more like a Low Pass Filter that you can trigger and has a vactrol (or similar) controlling the decay). To get sounds an octave lower you can use a pitch shifter (like the 2hp Pitch) or theoretically a clock divider, but a clock divider will significantly impact the sound as typically they have only pulse/trigger/square waves.
For anyone that may have been wondering how to update the firmware & use the editor: -Eurorack power must be plugged in as well -Download the software, open, then plug in your Prok module -No need for drivers or to hold any buttons on the unit, should just show up once power has been supplied and usb is connected
Im just building my first modular rig around a Moog Grandmother, also coming to it from more of a metal background and this is definitely on my wishlist now. Want to get some polyphony from the GMs mono base and this seems perfect. Think it would sound sick through an Erica Synths Rabbit Hole. The Doom sountrack is epic, didnt realize Mick used so much modular but just watched the BTS vid. Djent!
Please let me know if you have any music to share!
this video gives me good reasons to use a module like this. Thanks a lot. I like utility modules with simple concepts done well. It invites creative patching and sequencing
Thanks for the feedback :)
Just found out about this module. So sick and from my home country ^_^ I'd love to see an expander with more knobs, would become a dream module :)
That would be cool!
At 2 mins mark, you start mentioning ASIO and nothing else. Too bad you assume we're all Windows users. Just saying. Still watching.
Fair point :) Unfortunately I haven't tested it with macOS nor with Linux. Theoretically I could give it a try on Linux but as Ableton does not ship a native Linux version (yet??) I'd still need to WINE it. I can ask around and see if I can borrow a macBook for a few days.
Craft 2.0 is the beet one og all mono, analog synths that i have had. With Keystep it is nobrainer. Amount of modulation is huge! I culd easyly find better apps but with this smart layout it is just more fun.
Couldn't agree more :)
amazing talk!!!!! I was in Midi Amsterdam 15 days ago to buy my first case nifty bundle and rample. I fall in love with the clones of Mutable instruments from after later audio !!!! Oh man so pretty and well made and the sound perfect !!! For sure all then is in my wishlist!!!!
Thanks for sharing!!
Great video for anyone interested in cv
Thanks Ryan!
