I got laid off at 60 now Im 62 still searching. I can't afford to retire I need a miracle if I did. So if the give us enough to pay rent eat and sleep it would be good. Some elderly live on less then a thousand per month.

    • @SupportGuideChannel
      @SupportGuideChannel  9 дней назад +3

      I hear you-it’s incredibly tough when you’ve worked hard, only to face these struggles later in life. It’s frustrating to see aid going abroad while seniors here are barely getting by. Many older adults, especially those on limited Social Security, live with less than $1,000 a month, which barely covers basic needs like rent, food, and healthcare. Job loss at 60 can be devastating, especially when retirement isn’t an affordable option. You’re not alone in feeling like more focus should be on supporting seniors and making sure they can live with dignity and security. Here’s hoping for changes that provide the support and stability you-and so many others-deserve.

    The seniors that get low ss checks, live below the poverty level. Very hard to luve with the super inflation.

    • @SupportGuideChannel
      @SupportGuideChannel  9 дней назад +4

      Absolutely-seniors with low Social Security checks often struggle, especially with today’s high inflation. Living on limited benefits can mean tough choices between essentials like food, healthcare, and housing. With rising costs, many seniors are finding it increasingly difficult to meet basic needs, and those on fixed incomes are hit particularly hard by inflation’s impact on everyday expenses.

  • @geraldvandewal5788
    @geraldvandewal5788 10 дней назад +38

    We paid into it most our lives. We're taxed then, why should we be taxed again drawing it. Maybe the government should stay out of it. That's misappropriation of tax payers funds.

    • @SupportGuideChannel
      @SupportGuideChannel  10 дней назад +6

      You’re raising a great point! Social Security was designed as a benefit people earn through a lifetime of contributions, so it feels like double-dipping when taxes are applied during retirement. Many argue that the government should keep its hands off these benefits, letting retirees fully enjoy what they’ve worked hard for without extra deductions. The idea of taxing Social Security benefits does feel like a misstep, especially when people see it as money they already “pre-paid.” Many would agree: once you’ve paid in, you should be able to draw on it without further cuts.

    There's never enough raise in social security the seniors aways suffer paying property tax

    • @SupportGuideChannel
      @SupportGuideChannel  8 дней назад +5

      It’s true-Social Security increases often fall short of covering the rising costs seniors face, including property taxes. Many seniors rely heavily on Social Security, but modest cost-of-living adjustments rarely keep up with these escalating expenses. This leaves many older adults struggling, especially with essentials like housing. A more meaningful raise in benefits could provide much-needed relief for seniors who have contributed to the system their entire lives.

The rest are on a graduated scale that addresses the amount of income they have from pensions and from working. So for more than half of the people on Social Security, not paying tax is a moot point. Your concern is completely valid. If cuts are made without a well-thought-out plan, it could jeopardize Social Security for those who truly depend on it. For many, going back to work isn’t an option, so they’d be left without a safety net. It’s crucial that any reforms protect the program’s stability without unfairly impacting those who’ve worked their whole lives for these benefits. Hopefully, they’ll consider the real-life impact on seniors before making drastic changes.

Some people who have retired are under The Penalized Payment Fees for the rest of their lives (thats right) unbelievable and have to quarterly pay Medicare and Llep fees. Social Security has probably been running so inefficient.

    The problem is that when the 85% tax rule was passed back during President Ronald Reagan’s administration, it was never indexed for inflation. What is not a lot of money these days was quite a bunch more in terms of income around 1981. All that needs doing is amend that law making the inflation index retroactive to 1981. I’m doing this from memory so I might be off a year or two when the legislation passed. I think it was passed the same year Congress raised the Social Security full retirement age from 65 to 67. I will be surprised if they don’t do that again too.

      It’s surprising, but under Social Security rules, a combined income of $44,000 for a married couple can result in up to 85% of their Social Security benefits being taxed. Many feel that this threshold doesn’t align with today’s cost of living, as $44,000 is far from “high income” for most families. It’s a point of frustration for many retirees facing unexpected taxes on their benefits.

      The Federal Budget for FY 2022 was $6.75 Trillion. The 600 pound guerilla in the room is about $1 Trillion just servicing the interest on the debt ($35 Trillion). Bigger line item than Defense. If Trump spends like a drunken sailor, this number will increase, compounded by the interest rate on the debt.

    I am definitely worried about the long-haul and what affect this will have for the people that are coming up on that retirement age and getting ready to collect Social Security. Trump is very delusional thinking that this is a great effect for the American economy.

    • @SupportGuideChannel
      @SupportGuideChannel  8 дней назад +1

      Your concern is completely valid. Many Americans approaching retirement are understandably anxious about the future of Social Security and whether it will fully support them when they need it. Some proposed changes, like reducing benefits or altering funding, could create financial uncertainty for new retirees. While certain policies may be promoted as beneficial to the economy, the real impact on everyday people, especially those near retirement, is often overlooked. Safeguarding Social Security for future generations requires realistic, sustainable solutions that prioritize the financial security of all retirees, not just immediate economic gains.

      @SupportGuideChannel  9 дней назад +1

      I’m so sorry to hear that-it’s incredibly hard to get by when SSI benefits barely cover the essentials. With taxes and deductions reducing the amount you take home, it can feel nearly impossible to make ends meet. Many on SSI face similar struggles, trying to stretch every dollar just to cover basic needs. It’s frustrating when the support meant to help doesn’t go far enough, especially with rising costs. You deserve a better safety net that truly supports your daily living.

    More interested in long term health of program

    • @SupportGuideChannel
      @SupportGuideChannel  8 дней назад +1

      Ensuring the long-term health of Social Security is crucial for the millions who depend on it. The program faces challenges as the population ages, with fewer workers paying into the system relative to beneficiaries. Options for strengthening it include raising the payroll tax cap so higher earners contribute more, adjusting benefit formulas to focus on those with the greatest need, or gradually increasing the retirement age to reflect longer life expectancies. Each approach has pros and cons, but a combination could create a balanced solution that protects future benefits. Sustaining Social Security requires thoughtful changes now to secure the program for generations to come.

The only thing there is to do is smoke and cigarettes are hard to afford. I always thought it was the governments job to take care of our country otherwise WTF do we need them for

    • @SupportGuideChannel
      @SupportGuideChannel  9 дней назад +1

      It’s absolutely understandable to feel this way-trying to live on such a limited income is extremely tough, and it can feel like those who set these policies are out of touch with the realities people face. When essentials like housing, food, and even small comforts are hard to afford, it’s frustrating and dehumanizing. Many believe that one of the government’s core responsibilities is to ensure its citizens can live with dignity and security, especially after years of hard work and contributions. You’re not alone in wanting more empathy and effective action from leaders. Everyone deserves a fair chance to live without constantly struggling to get by.

    • @SupportGuideChannel
      @SupportGuideChannel  9 дней назад +1

      Yes, Republicans gained control of both the Senate and the House, positioning them to push forward their policy goals with fewer obstacles. This majority allows for more streamlined legislative action, though any significant changes, particularly to key programs like Social Security, will still go through an extensive process of debate and review. While having control makes passing legislation easier, critical programs often receive close examination to consider their broad impact on the public.
