I still think I favor the Kediss variant personally, but I really enjoyed this discussion and look forward to the tournament report!

Malcolm Kediss is def the better deck overall, not gonna argue that. However, Malcolm Breeches is still top tier and can have some better matchup than the Kediss version, like in removal heavy pods.

I haven't watched the vid in it's entirety yet so forgive me if this is answered but has there been any talk in cutting the 2 tap lands and ash for 3 more basics?
I imagine it's not really hard to get your colored pips going and having a tap land in hand can be the difference between an early play or having to wait a turn.
Theres enough of each basic to not get color screwed plus Malcolm can color fix.
Has cutting those lands been tested?

Personally I can see a reason to just run only basics. It would help stop any problematic situations. I do know I would never cut the artifact land. It enables combo which gives it the slot.

@@gatorbaittv7672keeping the artifact tap land makes sense then since it can help trigger a pinger post combat.
I would deff cut ash and the other tap for another island and mountain. I just don't think the deck needs the color fixing and potential slow start in opening hand

@@Joolenplus The Volatile Fjord allows Lorien Revealed to be a mountain. It enables keeps where you only have one or two lands and a lorien which definitely matters if you end up having to mulligan down to 5 or less cards. While the tap lands are not ideal in an opening hand, Malcolm Breeches is not a turbo deck and can afford a tap land between turns one and three. With that said, I'm making a few updates to the list to include some fast mana to help smooth out those early turns and get you to your commanders faster which will also help mitigate the few tap lands in the list alongside the rocks that you're looking to play during early turns.
Regarding Ash Barrens-that's a flex slot. I personally have not found it to be an issue when playing the list and it gives me something to do with extra mana on turns one through three. It's one of few proactive 1 mana options in the list and it's not totally dead if you play it raw since both commanders have colorless pips.
