"I usually practice for 11 hours"
"I woke up at 4 a.m. so I can practice"
"The morning of the performance I was feeling sooo refreshed"
"I don't really want to eat"
Does she not have neighbours 😂😂😂
agreed except for the eating part. i feel so nervous and nauseous on my performance days that i can’t eat
yes. just yes.
I can’t even relate to practicing 😳
Especially the last one as I eat my 7th Dino nuggie
wish Twoset would react to this.

I'm not even awake for 11 hours a day lol
I’m awake for 15 usually but I still couldn’t imagine spending over half of my day practicing (cello)
evangelina same, I can barely practice for an hour a day
Are you a cat?..
@Raspberry Pi I feel exactly the same
Nah, i am a NEET aspirant, i study for about 11 hours😂
i’m the same age as her, and i only practice around 2 hours a day 😳 i can’t believe she’s already playing paganini!
You will get there soon!!
i practice 2 hours a day too
I practice only 1 n half hr every alternate days and as I've lost my spirit which had me learn the violin at x2 speed. But I'm back on it after a long 4 month break
I’ve given up on violin 🎻
depends on how you practice :-) you can play for 11 hours a day but feel like you've gotten nowhere or practice for 2 hours but work really concentrated and accomplish a lot
She be practicing 40 hours a day

Edit: finally went back to school, and I literally just told here that I hadn’t played in a while she was very understanding so I am grateful and finally calm.

As a professional violinist, just have to say that 11 hours is INSANITY and a recipe for disaster - by that I mean the kind of injury that can knock out a violinist for a good year, if not more. Also it's not mentally healthy. For reference, most professionals practice no more than 4 hours a day. Actually even 4 is A LOT! Maybe it works for her now since she's very young but I would advise to be careful and be mindful...
I'm a musician (BA) and violin was my primary instrument and I couldn't agree with you more. I'm glad to see she is doing yoga and stretching but with 11 hours of practice it's so important to do cool down stretches with foam rollers and have Epsom salt bath after practice. She's definitely young so she can get away with it now but it might bite her back later on as she ages...
Also just because you do practice long hours doesn't mean you're doing effective practice.
Also the fact that she woke up at 4 o'clock to practice before the performance... nobody does that, not even a professional musician, it's insane and makes you more and more tired (which is really bad if you have to perform)
I agree
Isia Sooth didn’t she go to sleep around 11 pm as well? As a 14 year old, 5 hours of sleep is definitely NOT helping anything
@@shamelessdouble2178 absolutely! Practicing with the good focus, strategy, and plan for 2-3 hours is much better than mindlessly practicing all day/just going through the motions. Also research shows that after 5 hours, the quality of practice goes down because of human mental capacity.

She practices 11 hours a day & only uses rosin every few days?! Edit: also student violinists do NOT hold yourself to this standard or feel disheartened. This young lady’s commitment is very inspiring and she is very talented, but she is very lucky to have the privilege of attending a top junior college, as well as a supportive family. Most people can’t practice that much in a day because they don’t have the physical space, their parents are asleep or working etc etc. I’ve played the violin for 13 years & am training as a professional & we are always advised not to over practice because of the mental and physical strain.
But I do feel disheartened, compared to what she can do I might as well choose another career because there's no way I'll ever be as good as she is.
I rosin my bow every day lol
“why can’t you be more like your cousin? she’s your age and she already is so successful”
Exactly
I can already hear how my parents are gonna say this to me, if I show then the video
I can hear Eddy's dragon mom's voice now, but (s)he'll say "Ling Ling" instead of "your cousin" :D
Pft i Can hear my grandma saying something like “you should’ve kept practicing the violin like her.” As if a child has the ability to self-learn and buy classes. Now I’m self-teaching myself but gradually so u won’t burn out 😖
Normal people must be so confused whenever they click on any video remotely related to music because of the twoset comments. We’ve done it linglingwannabes, we’ve taken over youtube and provided Brett and eddy with free advertising.
Many professionals don’t even practice 11 hours a day (I always believe the quality of practice is more important than the quantity amount of time.)
But also, as a Twosetter, I’m pretty sure she’s well above Lindsey’s level~
well she did say 'up to' 11 hours a day so im sure that this was only for the one week crunch time. at other times she probably practices 6-9 hrs
Nightingale that’s still an unhealthy amount
Well, considering she plays 100x better than you I doubt she cares what you believe. Clearly what she’s doing is working for her. Maybe you should follow suit.
@@FlowerTower Not if it's mentally and physically unhealthy to do so~
@@tesscrelli783 I’m sorry, what? I couldn’t hear you over the sound of my practicing.
I get that she's probably practicing more than usual because she's about to perform and she's probably on summer break, but 11 hours a day is still crazy. Gotta admire the dedication
thank god she isn’t my cousin

She would literally be showing me up so bad...kind of like my sister (she plays double bass and she’s a level 5 while 13) on a whole other level
LMAO ME
lol 😂💀
that’s so random
I feel like this whole video is overkill. 11 hours a day and at one point she had 5 private teachers? I've never met any classical musician who has had more than one teacher and spends their ENTIRE day practicing. It's recipe for a burnout.
Also 5 different teachers would mess her up !! Every teacher has some kind of unique way to teach , I mean WhY and HoW ?
@@deadoralivecowboy1401 yes that one thing that terrible about it, 5 different teachers all teaching you is a recipe for disaster cause everyone’s different. I mean like DO THEY KNOW THIS IS HAPPENING
@@alexngo9706 she still plays better than you so evidently she’s not running into any problems.
Maybe you should take some of her advice? Cuz she doing better than you so...
Also, she said she had 5 teachers when she was like 6. LISTEN
@@FlowerTower Hi! Music teacher here. I would have to agree, having 5 teachers at once (even at 6 years old) is a little too much. No need to be so defensive. The original commenter was not slamming on her, but more so was addressing concerns for burn out. I understand the concern as she's still incredibly young.
@@FlowerTower not again…
No shade, but I think at this point she definitely plays violin better than Lindsey Stirling.
definitely a show for the documentary
Lindsey Stirling is actually very good, but yeah, after listen to Pillar, I wanted to quit violin :)
I would tend to agree, although I will say that it is pretty hard to tease out how good of a violinist Lindsey Stirling actually is given all the dancing and production and stuff.
WORLDS better
And they both play different styles. Lindsey Stirling usually plays more pop/rock music and Pillar just played classical
She works so hard and she is very talented!
Ok, not trying to be mean but, of all the violinists she could've played for, shes gonna play Paganini 24 for Lindsey Sterling????
it’s her idol!!
yeah.. it’s her idol she says lmao
haha yes i know! It's a joke, she is far better than Lindsey Sterling
I'd think Hilary Hahn would be a more suitable choice to perform Paganini for lol
Literally the least qualified violinist out there?
She’s the kid my mom wants
👁💧👄💧👁
💯
But I feel like it's not really healthy to practice 11 hours a day. I wonder how she'll feel both physically and mentally when she's about 30...
You're right, physically a violinist shouldn't practice more than 8 hours.
I agree! I know she’s a great violinist but there’s no way she does 11 hours a day. Maybe if that includes orchestral rehearsal or classes, but it is nearly impossible to practice that much. The body would feel so much fatigue and it’s not healthy. It’s not good to promote practice time like that because it’ll make young violinists think that that’s what they have to do to be like her.
@@juliajacobsen8121 Agreed. Hilary Hahn said the most she practised was for 7 and a half hours. The most I've heard is around 8 hours, almost always when one has an international competition ahead. I mean performing in front of Linsey Sterling through a zoom isn't that huge of an event... but 11 hours is near impossible, I think she is overexaggerating. I totally agree with you about the somewhat negative promotion of practice time, I mean it's not healthy at all to be practising 11 hours a day...
Totally, especially since she's so you she could become "burned" out
Yeah, I thought the same thing. Even Itzhak Perlman says you really shouldn't practice much more than 5 - 6 hours a day
11 hours a day??? how is that even mentally and physically possible. when does she do school? that much amount of time isn’t even healthy. even hilary hahn said the most she’s practiced is 6 hours and that was a lot for her. please don’t think you need to practice this much to be as good as her. this isn’t healthy
11 hours of anything a day is a lot, however violin is something that she loves. I’m not discrediting anyone who doesn’t practice that much and still finds a lot of joy in violin but I don’t think she should be ridiculed for practicing as much as she does. The longest I will ever practice violin a day is 4 hours and I can’t even imagine practicing for 6 let alone 11 hours. I do have other priorities in my life though and I do not see myself as a world renowned violinist. She is likely pursuing violin as a career just as most Olympic athletes pursue their sports.
Amoni Rose i completely agree with you. the most i’ve praciticed is 6 hours, but even if she loves violin so much it’s not even possible to practice that much a day. it would be physically impossible to do without getting injured or having pains. and to pursue violin as a career it’s not necessary to practice 11 hours.
Yes it's possible
It probably includes breaks and theory to be fair.
I mean she said she’s at Juilliard pre college so she’s probably adding in all the time she practices on her own plus the time she spends at school. Like she’s literally in a music school lol.
i practice an hour and be proud of myself wow

"I practice 11 hours a day"

"My idol is Lindsey Stirling 🤩"

😂
Lindsey may be a pop violinist, but keep in mind, she's worked very hard to make a name for herself and has been the inspiration for many young people to pick up an instrument and start playing. Sure she's no Perlman or Heifetz, but she shows the non-classical world how cool the violin can be, since most non-musicians think of violin as just a "regular, plain" instrument made only to play "boring classical music". And who knows, maybe Lindsey plays Bach and Paganini in her free time too.
Same. I was expecting Hilary Hahn (idk how to spell it 😬) or Rey Chen
yeah this made me question lots of things LOL hilary hahn is cool too 😩🤟🏼
@@windyhours what's the issue with that, lmao? Just because she's a pop violinist doesn't mean she's bad.

bright, talented and so hard-working! Her future looks very promising!😘😘
Beautiful story. She seems like she genuinely enjoys this, not being forced like some child prodigies. But truly, the emotion and storytelling really can be felt in her tone. It's masterful.
Being a 14 year old violinist who has been playing for 10 years, I can really look up to her. She is so amazing!!!! The amount of hours she practices in a day is unbelievable!!! Her smile and confidence just makes my day!!!
Wow, I absolutely adore her. And I ADMIRE her playing. The way she puts her own personality into the piece is just phenomenal.
Being a musician myself, I always listen to different interpretations before playing a piece myself. And I was simply blown away by your interpretation
I feel so inspired, than you so so much for sharing!!❤️
😀Even I clean my violin after every practice from the day I started playing it(since I was 13 and now 17) like people ask me if it's new😶 and my G string broke just the day before my exam while practicing and worst I didn't have that string. So next morning I rushed to the store with my parents but shop opened late (oh the tension in air😨) but I was on time and gave my best and passed with great score😉
I'd like to see you play.
@@isaacrejoice1001 someday

She is 14 and can already play the most difficult violin solo piece, what-
But still, her neighbours must be annoyed sometimes to hear violin practice at 4 am 😂
It's not the most difficult don't forget all the more difficult pieces
@@moonylanatm_ Tbf its really up there and a lot of piece difficulty can be subjective. Some might find Wieniawski or Paganini easier than Mozart or Bach because of style preference and amount of experience in that style.
Naomiyaki I actually agree though
Hope her practice room done some soundproof.
Caprice 24 is definitely not one of the most difficult pieces we have in our repertoire. Paganini himself composed more complicated pieces like God Save The King.
Even though her story is very inspiring, I think the amount that she practices per day (11 hours) is very misleading and encourages things that aren’t really healthy for aspiring musicians around her age. 11 hours of practicing each day isn’t healthy in any sense-mentally or physically-and will tire her out eventually. Maybe being a violinist is her career path, but just like for a professional athlete, training all day everyday and taking very short breaks like 30 minutes isn’t good at all.
i don’t think you understand. i play trumpet and its key to practice for hours if you want to be successful.
@@lolag6757 I honestly don’t think this is about how many hours a day you practice, it’s about the quality and efficiency of your practice time. It doesn’t matter if you practiced for 11 hours, if you don’t know how to practice properly, it will be wasted time.

Claire Bressi hahaha yep
@Claire Bressi Ya she goes to the precollege but that’s only an after school program it’s not an actual school

Yes, it is to create friction therefore causing the violin to make sound and pointe shoes not slipping. The only difference is we violinist use it as a block while dancers use it as a crushed powder!
