I will point out that an Eirene RR4 with Triple Tap, Casket Mag, and Replenish will out-DPS all of these snipers (including Black Spindle) with it's larger magazine size, rate of fire, and total ammo count. Note that the magazine of this Eirene will increase to 7 if Triple Tap is procced twice. Eirene total ammo count with max ammo bonuses (no procs): 16 (5 in mag, 11 in reserve) (This means a total of 3 reloads [2 with max ammo]) Finally, Replenish reloads your mag for free. So you get an additional magazine without a reload animation. Once again, you have your starting magazine, then your procced magazine, and then two more possible reloads. Using your numbers: No WoL (15,561 x 7) x 4 mags = 435,708 W/ Wol (21,007 x 7) x 4 mags = 588,196 These numbers do not include the bonus damage (and additional damage stack from Nightstalker tether) from a Super that is required to be casted in order to proc the additional magazine. Nightstalkers, Defenders, Voidwalkers, and Sunsingers all benefit from this since they have instant cast supers that cast faster than the reload animation. Finally, someone in the comments mentioned that they have a "god-rolled" Event Horizon with Triple Tap and Casket mag. Here's the math: No WoL, no ER (18,114 x 5) x 5 mags = 452,850 W/ WoL, no ER (24,453 x 5) x 5 mags = 611,325 In theory, this Event Horizon would out-DPS every sniper however without Spray and Play and/or speed reload gauntlets, there's no possible way of putting in all of these shots into Vosik (in this case) before the SIVA critical mass mechanic activates. With the Eirene RR4 mentioned above, it is absolutely possible, and indeed very feasible, to place all of the shots and deal the maximum of damage within the time window. As a final note, I would like to encourage anyone to poke holes into this or to try this out (I, myself, have this Eirene RR4) and see the validity of this post. Or debate the results.

Good video Datto, and thanks for all the math work you do, it's really helpful in understanding the differences! I'll have to check my 1000 Yard Stare with Triple Tap and Hidden hand against this and see where it comes out in DPS on Vosik. With a sniper ammo bonus, I can have 18 shots with it in a 4 round mag, so 5 shots per cycle if I land 3 precision. Usually it's not hard to land 3 precision on Aksis or Vosik, unless people are going crazy with rockets and moving them. Hidden Hand does help take out some of the error.
Thorn only has some form of use in tight,small maps in the Crucible it does not have the range to it to hit someone 2-3 times and let the DOT finish the target off. in PvE in general its just a no go because another primary weapons do a better job at killing adds,majors and doing DPS on bosses. nobody is going to pick Thorn as a Primary in a raid since there in really no use for it in any part of this raid + you waste a exotic slot. as for ToM since they fixed the issue where you could dip in and out of Blessings to regain health and overshield while spamming the last bullet people have started using it less. its still a good weapon for DPS but you put yourself at a high risk of dying since you either die because you fire to much and not keeping your health in check or you will get killed since your health is low by lets say a add or by the boss itself. for me as of right now its a high risk low reward weapon since you put yourself at risk of dying for DPS while weapons like Spindle,Sleeper or Ghorn do a better job at DPS in general without putting you at risk.
Thanks for the awesome video as usual Datto. I have been doing raze lighter with event horizon on the raid so that I can kill captains more reliably and still damage bosses. I think probably 1-2 raze lighters and the rest with black spindle/ghorn/sleeper is a decent party comp
Triple tap + Casket Mag is best on snipers with 4 shots in a clip as they can then get 7 shots off while the Horizon with a weak 3 will only get 5 making it less effective. Still a good roll but reload perks would do better in most dps cases.
The Frenchest Fry same. My RNG has been literal shit for this DLC. It took me a couple weeks to get 365. The first 2 crucible matches I did when this DLC came out, i got two max range matadors with rangefinder, lol. I was saying to myself " i will never get a matador!!! " Boom. 2 matadors
Loved the video. It seems that we're getting a new damage from comparison every week. After you finish making all of these, can you make a final recap video, focusing on the best combinations for each boss, like is outbreak worth the exotic slot over sleeper, or darkdrinker, taking the time it takes to do the damage. This might help out a ton
rocket launchers were made to do enough damage to wipe and weaken groups of enemies in an instant, they are not suppose be one of the highest dps weapons in the game, that would be broken. and thats why they neft the G Horn
Yes a weapon designed around hitting one target and hitting precision shots to deal a lot of damage to one target does more single target damage than a rocket that's designed to clear groups of enemies and not require precision damage to get the most out of. That's called balance.
NSS JUMPSHOT super good advice since it takes forever to run out of ammo after it's re work allowing you to get more dps out for a round or more on vosik

Hi Datto, my friend keeps telling me to switch to fusion grenades when running my sunsinger but I prefer solar grenades with sunbreakers for better ad control. Am I missing out on crazy amounts of boss damage?
If you're using Touch of Flame and Viking Funeral, Fusions are definitely the way to go. Solar grenades only apply one stack of Viking Funeral per grenade, Fusions apply two. So with Radiance, they win for boss damage. Look up the Aksis no-guns video, six Sunsingers with Fusions.
A little while ago someone did a damage comparison on reddit. He found out that ToF stacks with itself. Plus, a sunbreaker solar nade with double ToF and VF way out damages a fusion. Fusion may apply two stacks of VF at the same time, but VF maxes at three stacks and when in radiance (even with Fireborn) You can easily pump out that max stack of three with Solar nades constantly. No sunbreakers though? Fusions all the way.

Tyler Rue Aye, I know, even though I said that Black Spindle is easier, that doesn't mean it is easy, the amount of enemies you've gotta kill in the alternate ending is quite allot and you've got a boss to kill too. And it all has to be done within a timer or you have to do the entire mission again (Don't quote me on that last bit, I've not got the Black Spindle yet)
Great video as always. I appreciate you doing this specific comparison with the vendor event horizon and devil's dawn. I was wondering why everyone was under the impression that devil's dawn was the best raid sniper when the only thing it has going for it is the damage bonus vs fallen and the other perks are not helpful for boss dps at all. I was pretty sure that any sniper that had any combination of faster reload/larger magazine/ammo generation perks/upgrades would beat it, and you showed that. Even if people didn't have a well rolled sniper, I was pretty sure that the vendor event horizon would be better with the ability to get better stability and spray and play. And I'm pretty sure my 1k yd stare with spray and play and triple tap would probably do better as well. Now people can stop spreading misinformation.
Well I just got a triple tap, explosive rounds event horizon, I'm stoked! Also I always use ophidian aspect so I don't have to worry about reload plus I got ambush which ups that reload and stability.
i would like to see a small revisit with the raid sniper EX MACHIN. high damage and extra damage to fallen like Devils dawn but has spray and play. though i can see wait for it being very challenging to get correct calculations with.

Hey datto I was wonder something and I tried testing it myself and it seemed to work. The no time to explain exotic pulse rifle seems to be a monster against the raid bosses yet no one ever thinks about it. It might be something that's worth looking into!
yea I have to think the reason they nerfed it was specifically because of this raid - it didn't really matter for KF a year later but if bubble still worked it would have dominated Wrath as well
thing you've got to consider is black spindle is an exotic, if you are more preferable to gjallarhorn you'll want a sniper close to black spindle, I put event horizon beside black spindle, they are both great for mass dps
What we do normally is 1 Spindle for stun lock and 2 Sleeper and 3 Drinker. 2 tethers and you can get him with 2 cycles :). Now I will switch the 2 Sleepers with 2 Spindles :D. Thankyou Datto :)
Thanks datto, i've been wondering what my setup should be for Aksis and so far it has been Primary:pulse/hand cannon, Special: sniper, and Heavy: exotic sword/rockets. I also went either Void Walker or Sun Slinger and on my hunter it was Nightstalker or Gunslinger
there was a gunsmith sniper with triple Tap, casket mag and clown cartridge bringing the mag Size up to 6 normally but 8 with clown cartridge. only real issue I saw with that was the higher than normal recoil and low damage. I think at like 365 light I was doing only like 7900-9200 ish on a crit on some boss in the 350 light strike. I suppose it could be viable with enough ammo/etc.
I really believe the only "lower" impact snipers you would need to test would be the But Not Forgotten from Archon's Forge and then some type of LDR/Longbow for comparison. They won't compete with Black Spindle, but I feel like my But Not Forgotten with Triple Tap will deal respectable damage because instead of sights, it can also increase its impact due to barrel perks.
My LDR has triple tap, and casket mag which means if all of my shots are crits i can shoot 7 times before I have to reload. It also has spray and pray which also means that it reloads a lot faster. Depending if there's ammo around me, I can usually get around 20-25 shots.
Datto when you do those heroic mode tests could you do the triple tap casket mag combo like you talked about then? I do think it has potential to out damage spindle, especially with sniper reload gauntlets
No I meant since I am a higher light. Will the quest be easier. That it will be easier to kill the boss and the adds within the 5 minutes in last room for instance. Even with 3 people we barely made a dent on the boss or adds.

I have a ldr with triple tap spray and play and casket mag! It's perfect for dumping damage as it shoots 7 per mag and then reloads really fast (though I can only hold like 14 bullets (the mag is 5 triple tap adds 2) with 1 ammo bonus so it's quite weird as you should get more rounds to compensate for the lower impact) also I think the preadyths revenge archetype needs an ammo buff as you get just as much ammo as with say a longbow
i actually do have that god roll sniper you were mentioning: 1k stare with triple tap, casket mag, and spray&play idk if it will do more damage than black spindle though..
I'm interested to know how my 1KYS would do. Triple Tap with Armor Piercing and increased reload speed should make it a decent raid sniper, I shall have to pay attention in the next raid I do

Hi Datto, my friend keeps telling me to switch to fusion grenades when running my sunsinger but I prefer solar grenades with sunbreakers for better ad control. Am I missing out on crazy amounts of boss damage?

If you're using Touch of Flame and Viking Funeral, Fusions are definitely the way to go. Solar grenades only apply one stack of Viking Funeral per grenade, Fusions apply two. So with Radiance, they win for boss damage. Look up the Aksis no-guns video, six Sunsingers with Fusions.
Shane Meadows ad control with sunbreakers is far better than trying to use nades for boss damage. Use a sniper/rocket/sword for the boss
A little while ago someone did a damage comparison on reddit. He found out that ToF stacks with itself. Plus, a sunbreaker solar nade with double ToF and VF way out damages a fusion. Fusion may apply two stacks of VF at the same time, but VF maxes at three stacks and when in radiance (even with Fireborn) You can easily pump out that max stack of three with Solar nades constantly. No sunbreakers though? Fusions all the way.

I finally got my Sleeper Stim yesterday. Haven't used it yet because it's only 320 light, but I'm just happy to have finally beaten that last step in the questline. I'll have to look into the Black Spindle.
Black Spindle is easier to get than the Sleeper due to how you need to complete the alternate ending to the heroic Lost to Light mission

Tyler Rue Aye, I know, even though I said that Black Spindle is easier, that doesn't mean it is easy, the amount of enemies you've gotta kill in the alternate ending is quite allot and you've got a boss to kill too. And it all has to be done within a timer or you have to do the entire mission again (Don't quote me on that last bit, I've not got the Black Spindle yet)

Great video as always. I appreciate you doing this specific comparison with the vendor event horizon and devil's dawn. I was wondering why everyone was under the impression that devil's dawn was the best raid sniper when the only thing it has going for it is the damage bonus vs fallen and the other perks are not helpful for boss dps at all.
I was pretty sure that any sniper that had any combination of faster reload/larger magazine/ammo generation perks/upgrades would beat it, and you showed that. Even if people didn't have a well rolled sniper, I was pretty sure that the vendor event horizon would be better with the ability to get better stability and spray and play. And I'm pretty sure my 1k yd stare with spray and play and triple tap would probably do better as well. Now people can stop spreading misinformation.
Well I just got a triple tap, explosive rounds event horizon, I'm stoked! Also I always use ophidian aspect so I don't have to worry about reload plus I got ambush which ups that reload and stability.

i would like to see a small revisit with the raid sniper EX MACHIN. high damage and extra damage to fallen like Devils dawn but has spray and play. though i can see wait for it being very challenging to get correct calculations with.

Hey Datto! Just curious, have you ever considered presenting number data in some kind of graphical form alongside the actual data values? I think it might be helpful for more visual people to wrap our heads around how far some of these weapons outpace the others. Hey datto I was wonder something and I tried testing it myself and it seemed to work. The no time to explain exotic pulse rifle seems to be a monster against the raid bosses yet no one ever thinks about it. It might be something that's worth looking into!

You can no longer use ToM with a Blessings of light bubble.. So it is basically useless on bosses.
they nerfed the blessing of light. so it wont work anymore. sadly.
yea I have to think the reason they nerfed it was specifically because of this raid - it didn't really matter for KF a year later but if bubble still worked it would have dominated Wrath as well
thing you've got to consider is black spindle is an exotic, if you are more preferable to gjallarhorn you'll want a sniper close to black spindle, I put event horizon beside black spindle, they are both great for mass dps
What we do normally is 1 Spindle for stun lock and 2 Sleeper and 3 Drinker. 2 tethers and you can get him with 2 cycles :). Now I will switch the 2 Sleepers with 2 Spindles :D. Thankyou Datto :)
Thanks datto, i've been wondering what my setup should be for Aksis and so far it has been Primary:pulse/hand cannon, Special: sniper, and Heavy: exotic sword/rockets. I also went either Void Walker or Sun Slinger and on my hunter it was Nightstalker or Gunslinger
So, dark drinker vs. elemental cannons? And, light level vs cannon damage ? I'd love to see that break down.
there was a gunsmith sniper with triple Tap, casket mag and clown cartridge bringing the mag Size up to 6 normally but 8 with clown cartridge. only real issue I saw with that was the higher than normal recoil and low damage. I think at like 365 light I was doing only like 7900-9200 ish on a crit on some boss in the 350 light strike. I suppose it could be viable with enough ammo/etc.
I really believe the only "lower" impact snipers you would need to test would be the But Not Forgotten from Archon's Forge and then some type of LDR/Longbow for comparison. They won't compete with Black Spindle, but I feel like my But Not Forgotten with Triple Tap will deal respectable damage because instead of sights, it can also increase its impact due to barrel perks.
Datto you need to put out a dps video on the other raid weapons: ex machina sniper, rocket launcher, and machine gun

My LDR has triple tap, and casket mag which means if all of my shots are crits i can shoot 7 times before I have to reload. It also has spray and pray which also means that it reloads a lot faster. Depending if there's ammo around me, I can usually get around 20-25 shots.
how much do you crit each time
Datto when you do those heroic mode tests could you do the triple tap casket mag combo like you talked about then? I do think it has potential to out damage spindle, especially with sniper reload gauntlets
Can you do an analysis of all the damage buffs/debuffs and what combos go together that would be interesting to see the best

No I meant since I am a higher light. Will the quest be easier. That it will be easier to kill the boss and the adds within the 5 minutes in last room for instance. Even with 3 people we barely made a dent on the boss or adds.

I have a ldr with triple tap spray and play and casket mag! It's perfect for dumping damage as it shoots 7 per mag and then reloads really fast (though I can only hold like 14 bullets (the mag is 5 triple tap adds 2) with 1 ammo bonus so it's quite weird as you should get more rounds to compensate for the lower impact) also I think the preadyths revenge archetype needs an ammo buff as you get just as much ammo as with say a longbow

Triple Tap with Armor Piercing and increased reload speed should make it a decent raid sniper, I shall have to pay attention in the next raid I do
