Indeed... He's especially working hard here to hold time together while the sound guys adjust everything to audible levels. You can see him really lay into a few backbeats while eyeing members. Interesting stuff!
@@sampatience1512 Yep, you put the CD in, and when it starts hold the rewind button down, it'll go into negative time through the hidden starting track backwards. Then let go and enjoy!
saw 311 for my first concert when i was 25 in 1997 and couldn't believe the energy in the crowd, not to mention the smell of weed, still gives me goosebumps when i see a clip on the computer
Anyone who hasn't seen 311 live needs to. I'd say at least once, but once you see them you'll want to see them again. One of my favorite shows ever had them opening for Lenny Kravitz and Blues Traveler (back in 96). 311 could've easily been the headliners. Unfortunately, I haven't been to see them in over a decade. Summer of 2007 was the last time I saw them. They still threw down then just as hard then as they did the 1st time I saw them way back in 1995.
I saw 311 so many times in San Diego & LA in the mid-90s that I can't remember exactly, but I know I was at this show and I'm pretty sure that all you needed to do was bring a canned good to donate to get in. 311 definitely played a free show in San Diego right on the coast during the day in the mid-90s, I just can't remember if this is the show.
NICE! But transistor came out almost 1 year later... so yeah- they were jamming this badass shit for a while. I clearly remember this before shows in 97-98 and loved it
I'm not sure who else played, I do know it was at the "Choose or Lose" event in August of '96. They were deep into the meteoric rise of their fame and success with "Down" being played on MTV on heavy rotation as well. This event was performed at Hospitality Point as a "politically" based event to garner kids of that era to vote and get involved.
BRODELCORNER “that era....” You’re correct, but damn man, that makes me feel old. I was 21 that Summer, and had been obsessed with 311 since hearing “Music” in 1993. I had videotaped this show on MTV, and several of my buddies wanted copies, but we didn’t have a way to easily do a tape to tape transfer. A friend worked at Circuit City though, and he was able to use a machine there to dub a few for us. Talk about dated? “Videotapes and Circuit City” confirms how dated I am 😋....
I dont get it either. It's not like youre actually going to watch the damned thing. Maybe show a 5 sec clip to a friend. Enjoy the show. Put the stupid phone away ffs.
@tangoyankee28 i think its tribal, there is a shot of it in ETSD 1 as well when he is dancing all silly and shit in a green room, not quite sure what it is but he has added onto it since this..
love this song but man s.a. needs to slow down on some of the live performances- he's so out of breath from moving around so much- in the video you can hear the way it sounds without all the breathing and it's way better
Say what you want about that somewhat clumsy MTV intro, at least it's an instance of an influential platform trying to cultivate some interest in music...as opposed to finding a way to shoehorn it into some lame commercial. Or worse yet, ignoring it altogether. These guys were/are a quality group. Original approach within a genre that didn't always yield that result.
There is no "Transister Intro" as it doesn't appear on the actual album "Transistor." It was an intro the band made up to start concerts they did in support of the album. That's like hearing Dream Theater do a Metallica cover live, and then claim it was a bonus cover left off one of their albums.
Rawk4Life if you're going to make a comment saying something is or isn't.... Make sure it's actually true. I remember rewinding transistor and it had the transistor intro. You had to continue to hold rewind to get to the beginning of the intro. You dumb
Chad Sexton....one of the most underrated drummers out there. Solid as fuck.
playdrums marching band dude of course kekek

he isn’t underrated
@@bigbromiki1 yes he is
Love his style! Love this before transistor hits on the vinyl!!
Remember rewinding transistor to the hidden intro and was always worth it.
Rewinding the cd?? 🤯 off to the garage I go to dust off the treasure chest. 👌🏽

music store salesperson: hey Nick, how many pickups do you want for your guitar?
Nick: Yes
This song was like Korn's Blind for 311; still raw
I'm not sure who else played, I do know it was at the "Choose or Lose" event in August of '96.

Energy in the front was great. Nowadays everyone just has their Iphones out the whole time.

They should ban them like Jack White and every comedian does. It totally ruins the show
Sick wid it
I saw them this year at Horde Festival and then later with the Deftones and The Urge. For Horde, Nick had a cast on his his leg.
legendary
kickass
Oh yeah those guitar fills
damn they straight ripped that jam.
Fuck yes
Awesome band!...damn, what kinda shoes does Nick have on?
Doc martins with white socks, of course
Listen to Homebrew 1:56

2:25 HELL YEAH SA! hahaha
Sa going hard
311 HARD AS FUCK .
How cool. Vote, kiddos
We need to have this type of coverage for the upcoming midterms on November 6, 2018. But MTV has been bought out already =/
Been to many 311 shows, never seen a crowd like that!, which is too bad
who else played & where in SD was this? googled it but couldn't find anything. thanks

And listen to the Transistor Intro at 1:14.
how does nobody on here know that this was there stage entrance song that was always played in the early - mid 90's???? this is not rare
TJ Wheel the footage of this concert my man. Not the song.
Imagine choosing to be at the RNC instead of this lol yikes
How many of y'all tried calling that number?
Clearly, this was before Covid-19.
Sooooo mid nineties. Love it though

They sound good in.VHS steroid quality.
Nick??? Wtff??? Lol!!!
Nick's shoes...
word to SA, just put down the tambourine.
Hah I was at this show.
Wait hold up, did she say 311 playing for the republican national convention????? Oh my damn!!!!!!!
Not meaning that they’re playing “for” it...
Yo seriously, wtf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the editing/sound guy should have been fired for putting her voice over the intro. shame on him

@@bradms1479 did they misspell it? Lol
Limp bizkit and Linkin park ruined this type of music
+Lee Sullivan rchp ?
***** p.O.D
completely agree
Incubus and 311 gave it justifiable credibility...
linkin park's first two albums was and still is great. it's the albums after that that suck
“Shit like that now scares me, but I’d like to do it again!” hell yeah!
Ruined a special intro
Metallica ruined this type of music
+Eva Rose What the hell are you talking about? Metallica NEVER did funk rock.
Rawk4Life Nikki Jamested from mettallica played in earth wind & fire before .
Rhcp started this type of music
alison stewart you ruined the song
sadly I bet all of 311 are democrats
SA is probably a lib, but I think that Chad is more conservative by some of the social media reports (IF you rely on the info they provide)
