HTC is so darn underrated! I mean seriously? Some of you are okay with iPhone having no headphone jack, and not to mention about the bezel and here are y'all hating on HTC. If HTC had a simpler body, some would complain on that, if it had headphone jack the others would be like "this is 2017 who uses aux", if it made bezel-less screen the rest would say "HTC copied Samsung", no matter what HTC does some will always complain. HTC did great in upgrading the headphones to such level at least! It's a quick charge phone, go ahead charge it and use the provided headphones. BAAM! I agree that Samsung Galaxy S8 looks beautiful but look at all the other aspects that HTC is better with in comparison. And personally I think the squeeze option is brilliant. Ever tried using your phone's camera when you're with your gloves on during winter? Or how about under water maybe when you're swimming? I've used various HTC handsets for over a decade now, and have never had any issues. Whereas it progressively got better and now has the best camera in the market!
who cares what others say, you like it, you buy it.
the camera on that phone must be the best out there ...
Aniket B that remains to be seen .
Aniket B According to benchmarks, it is.
weedwak the dxo mark and the hardware is there to support it. let's see if they pull off pixel like software processing .
Aniket B it is it best the Panasonic gh4 on a shout-out
Pixel XL
Glad I preordered the U11 on the first day. Can't wait to get this beastly beauty.
I did not expect that. This is THE true 2017 Flagship Phone and will be my net device.
I'll give HTC one thing, they're still trying to innovate, progress and push things forward which causes other companies to get on their toes and fight back. when they fight back, they make something just as good or better and WE(the customer) profit. HTC made the first 4G phone. HTC made the Evo 3D and the M8 and now everyone is using dual cameras. HTC went all aluminium with the M7 and as a result we got a prettier Galaxy made of glass and an all aluminum iPhone. I don't know if y'all remember the S5 but that shit looked like a bandaid with golf ball dimples on the back, bland and uninspiring. HTC has gone and done many things, things that didn't always work out but they pushed other companies to do better. As long as HTC fights to stay in the race, All your iPhones and Galaxy's will continue to improve and not stay stagnant. and no, I'm not a fanboy, I own a OnePlus 3T but if I go to any other company, it'll be the one that's at least still trying to push *our* tech forward. Idk dude, it seems to me that most people are too caught up in brand loyalty to appreciate anything that isn't *their* brand, as if their favorite mega-corporation sends them gift basket every week and pays their child support. idk, sorry for the rant.
Jess Please. lol don't apologize. its truth. and coming from a guy who has a s8 plus i had HTC phones in the past so i get it. Unfortunately at least in the states brand loyalty plays such a strong role in people deciding their devices. So much so that other brands can't really survive and compete against juggernauts like apple or Samsung. Tbh i really would like to see HTC keep going and push forward and the same with all companies.
David Thomas I'm glad to see that at least one person agrees. I'd like to get into the psychology of what causes people to be so loyal to a brand. why people defend a brand like it's their own, like they created it. They treat it like it's their own child who could do no wrong, is flawless and always better than the rest. I guess I've just never understood brand loyalty.
Jess Please. Believe it or not we're all brand loyalists in some fashion. Like me im team android all day. Some think of it like a religion being tried and true to them. So really brand loyalty isn't too hard to understand. The only thing though like you said some believe their "brand" is so perfect and superior to the point where anything and everything else is inferior and not worth getting. In other words the blind sheep that follows the shepherd wherever he goes 😂
David Thomas that's the kind of brand loyalty I'm talking about, that's the one I don't understand. I get preferences and liking something over another but just not to that extent I guess.
Jess Please. People be bat shit crazy😂
hello, excuse me i noticed that you have the 2pzc300, is there a version of that with 128 gb of storage and 6 gigs of RAM, also... does this works with at&t lte band 4? thanks!
Dan
HTC = Hail The Champion best phone in 2017
Help the Company lol
Hold This Cock
I remember back when I had a One m7 there was an option to disable Blinkfeed, is this still present here? considering this phone but hate Blinkfeed.
I have a note 5, should I upgrade for an u11 or a note 8 when it comes out?
Can the back button be relocated or is it a fixed position soft touch?
a thing to test for in the audio review: Will the usb-c earphones with htc u11 work with htc 10 or any other usb-c device?
+Pocketnow where did you get that slip case which you are using with the u11
htc m8 by far the best looking best sounding. I just want a updated m8
Joey Ryder I'm still using mine, 3 years of trouble free experience not even a frozen screen or buttons and it's still performing excellent without any lag
Joey Ryder M8 is probably one of the best android phones ever made.
+Farid Amin yes mine top. Htc is best.
The HTC ONE M8 is a true giant in smartphone history when it comes to quality
I am still using mine too! Has been 3 years and it never failed to perform a task
I'm on the HTC one A9 still the least known HTC phone 😂😂 totally love HTC though this is like a 2015 version of the iPhone 7 running Android 😍
Nice, now there's something for everyone. Those that want the fingerprint scanner on the front and 16:9 aspect ratio don't have to compromise other features anymore, other than a headphone jack. But it's a start at least.
Jaime Rivera, do you recommends buying a case instead of using the one HTC gives ?
watching on my htc 10.
The old HTC fanboy inside Jaime has returned, and he's obviously pumped! 😁
Melo why ?this phone is better then anything outthere. S8 has nothing what it makes bettert then this phone and iphone is just shit
Will a case cause problems with the "squeezing" functions?
Really wish they would review the XZ Premium!
Hurileno right
Ahsanul Reza yeah the design is not the best but everything else looks great
MICOLE WHYTE what exactly is wrong with the design, you mean no idiotic curved glass screen and that weird aspect ratio and soap bar design, and this coming from a S7 owner. And in regards to the headphone jack, I never use it on my phone, I use a separate DAP for my music, like the Sony ZX2 or iPod Touch 5th generation, this also saves the battery on my phone.
Hurileno Ummmmm no
Same here!
I love the pictures of the family, it makes the videos feel very personable.
The only drawback is that it only suppor FullHD 30fps video recording instead of 60fps as all the other flagship have.
Just curious will the software be upgraded and support FullHD 60fps video recording later??
What is HTC's record with upgrading software ? I am considering this , the Pixel 2, whenever it comes out, or the Essential phone( I am not gonna bother with anything from Samsung,LG,Motorola or One+) I know the pixel will always get the newest software , I suspect , given the owner of the company , the Essential also will. How does HTC do with that ? I need a phone soon , since my X Pure is pure garbage by now ( albeit only 11 months old , since it is a replacement for another that crapped out on month 6 ) and it seems the HTC U11 will hit the market first .
All I won't to know is how's the audio with the USB-C to headphone jack dongle on the U11 is vs the mighty htc10 headphone jack with headphones? I love the sound quality of the 10, if the U11 is as good I'm getting one
I see you came to my Island, Roatan, Islas de la Bahía, Honduras. Kudos to you! Great reviews!
my love at first sight is the the LG V series. I loved those phones. Currently with a G6, waiting for the V30.
I have one question ... Do all HTC U11 have 2 sim places or not?
Will US version have dual sim?
thanks, pre ordered....any idea when I'll be getting it? anyone?
Do you live in Roatan or just visiting? I once knew someone from there.
Nice video.. plz tell me what is this watch you are wearing in this video..looks pretty dope inmo
Sounds like a winner! If I wasn't already romancing an HTC 10, I'd surely consider the U11...However, the metal unibody, the OIS on the front-facer, and of course, the 3.5 headphone jack are difficult to part with...Success with this handset, and Happy 20th Anniversary, HTC!
For me i would buy this rather than S8 for the following reasons...:
1. Fingerprint scanner placement
2. Finally, a better camera
3. Better music.
4. A better and clean UI
5. Nice colours.
i don't mind the bezels. i want FP on the front but not on the back and that too a wierd position like S8. there is iris scanner and facial recognition, but i don't want to look at the camera every time i want to unlock the phone. i like the design of S8 though. But looks aren't everything to me. Htc U11 has a great back too. so i will go for this one...( I am not degrading Samsung here, its just my opinion)
Deciding between U Ultra and U11?
Secondary display vs Edge Sense
Just helping
the way you were typing your passwords😂
Loved the intro! :D
sabia que eras Hondureño al ver Tigo shop . que genial ver tus reviews , llevo años viendo muchas de las que haces. un saludo desde San Pedro Sula capo!
Love the shirt bro!
what color is this? I love this particular color
Welcome back HTC!
that family photo was adorable! 😋
front speakers ?
everyone complaining about the headphone Jack. They removed it because USB-C can improve the quality of the sound, also, they have active noise cancelling feature, what aux input can't do. Besides, they also provide you with an audio converter cable(free in the box) and some high quality ear buds. How often are you really listening to music whilst charging your phone (it's not even recommended to use your phone while charging). Everyone talks about improvements and change, while no one actually wants change... Haters gonna hate.
htc bragged that all U11s have 2.1 memory, but is it true that U11 has LPDDR4x ram and what does it mean compare standard 4 in S8? I saw some comments but I am not familiar with 4x.... edge sense feature is really useful, it's strange noone ever before included this handy thing.
como lograste conseguir un Isuzu dmax en usa?????
this is already going to be my daily driver for a while. only device that may make me switch will be the Pixel 2. besides that HTC stepped it up every department. the UI has been the same for a while but then again there's not a lot wrong with it.
looking really good HTC
No compromises? No headphone jack seems like a compromise..
JPeace116 "Small" compromise considering the dongle has a DAC in it
Every USB-C to 3.5mm dongle has a DAC built in.. that's how they work. But it doesn't mean it will be a good DAC.. and besides, you can't charge you're phone and use traditional headphones simultaneously.. The phone looks great, but I don't see why removing the headphone jack was necessary for a phone this size. I hate that Motorola and Apple started this trend..
Tj Flex that Dongle DAC adapter is more likely a Men with a detachable penis.
You'll never know when you are going to use it for sex until you noticed that it supposed to be there.
JPeace116 Nope, with the HTC bolt or the Moto Z neither the headphones nor the adaptor has a DAC bulit in, HTC and Motorola actually rewired a analogue output via de USB-C port.
I can't wait till someone tests this headphones.
Piyath Alawatte I would be fine with it if they put an extra USB C port on the top so you could charge it while using your earphones.
better than LG g6 & sg s8 , pre ordered already !
#sense #camera #sounds #durability #hardware #U_SonicHeadphone 👍
Nice review
Would be perfect with front facing speakers.
Kyle Netherwood and a headphone jack
alexdiezg Very true. I missed that.
Kyle Netherwood I agree. When I lay down and rest the U11 phone on my belly the speaker on bottom is blocked, unlike my old M8.
bring back the dot view case!
What game was that @ 0:01?
So exactly how many sessions do you need for the review of the phone? One for unboxing, one for one-day impression, one for audio, one for camera, what else?
Ohhh Honduras!! Great!
RhinoShield Crashguard Bumper case for the HTC U11 would be bang tidy.
love HTC u 11 the best
Squeeze for the headphone jack to appear.
Ezaya Kashiwazaki go up
Ezaya Kashiwazaki LOL
Actually, HTC squeezed it away.
I'm squeezing it, I'm squeezing. Hey, I squeezed so hard the headphone jack went into my hand.
Ezaya Kashiwazaki I squeezed it and it popped out like a black head. 😢😢😢
I love my HTC One M8, but wouldn't mind a dual sim HTC U11.
*superb!*
#NotifSquad Jaime!
A good use of space this is
HTC made a killer phone... They are back.
This is what you guys said last year, and the year before that, and the year before that, and the year before that, and... I think you get the point.
TheChaosblock You should look some of the reviews on RUclips, they all said that the phone is great. Even in the comments it is hard to find somebody who is not excited about it, or not wanting to get him. U 11 is simply top phone, even hardcored Samsung lovers admit that.
The HTC 10 was by far the best phone from any major Android OEM, yet it didn't "bring HTC back" why do you think this will fair any better. They removed the Headphone Jack and have an already outdated chipset within the device, all for what? A gimmicky pressure sensor, anything this thing can do, can simply be done by creating a bindable button.
TheChaosblock LOL an outdated processor?? WTF are you talking about? And Edge Sense... Don't judge before you have the chance to use it. It's not a gimmick.
It was my mistake but the main point still stands at the end of the day, there is no real reason to buy this HTC U11 over the OnePlus 5.
I was rather underwhelmed with the U Ultra, but the U11 looks promising. Looking forward to the full review, mahalo!
Carrier exclusivity in the states is going to kill this phone, would've loved to pick one up on tmobile
Please tell me the call quality is at least decent and not that bad. Can you be more specific about the call quality?
Blinkfeed *was* my favorite feature.
really debating if I want to get the u11 over the S8 now... not sure yet :(
Wesley Ramos yeah I might stick with the s8, I love a lot of things it has
Sacred I'm the same way with LG G6, but both the G6 and s8 give you some more lifestyle features, like higher ip wireless charging (in US), quality headphone jacks (important for me personally) and I've been driving especially deep into looking up camera samples and so far all three are very close to one another
Beside the display of the s8, u11 is superior, it has better camera, speakers, it has a way better performance and it doesn't lagg after a year like most of the samsung phones, and the u11 also has squeeze and it has a better os(sense), which looks nicer than the new touchwizz, also you will not miss the wireless charging, which is a useless feature if there's fast charge in a phone, and that ip68 water resistance over ip67 doesn't mean much, only minor difference. If you want a phone and not a jewelry(s8) then you should be more than happy to get the new htc
Samsung has a great reputation for not being durable in terms of softvare, and u11's camera was rated as the best smartphone camera at DXO, if you don't trust that you can watch camera comparisons yourself or wait for Pocketnow to upload one, and for the rest, the plus features on the u11 makes it outstanding, like the superior speakers and performance, which i mentioned, and on geekbench both of them score nearly the same, but optimization means more than raw numbers, as you can see that the loading time for apps and games on u11 will be faster, but samsung was never the fastest to say the least, iphones were (because of the good optimization which i talkes about). So my point is that, which do you prefer, a better looking phone(s8), or a better phone itself(u11)?
Sacred the U 11 has my vote for it's great camera, true 5.5 inch display, and audio experience. The Edge Sense is icing on the cake.
Does anyone else miss the old times when there just used to be one simple review? We didn't have unboxing, 24 hour, dozens of comparisons, audio review, camera review then finally the review of the phone? Like I can understand the importance of audio and camera reviews being separate but all the other videos are a plain nuisance.
I like pocketnow don't get me wrong, been following it for years but tactics like these are just milking or cheesing the review
DarkFeels just skip the videos you're not interested in. I never watch the audio reviews because I use Bluetooth headphones. I usually skip the camera review as well. I get all the info I need from the actual review.
DarkFeels No I don't. I love the many different reviews.If you don't just don't watch them.Simple solution!
DarkFeels - The only ones I pay attention to is the full review (after some time has been spent with the handset), and the "6 Months Later" review (which usually take place only with more popular and/or higher-end devices)...The latter of the two is more important to me because this is when I usually make my decision on a new handset - After the test of time...
Yeah the full review and the year later reviews are the most helpful, they are helpful in telling how the phone was at it's present and how it aged both physically and software support wise.
Yeah the full review is usually the most helpful one and covers stuff broadly. But personally i do like camera reviews - Juan does a great job at them and it's helpful to know if you're spending dollars for flagship that what you'll end up with.
honestly the most beautiful phone i've ever seen.
what about battery life ?
I'm still waiting on a Sony Xperia XZ Premium review from Pocketnow. HTC U11 seems to be a pretty solid phone anyway.
S8 vs HTC U11 vs LG G6 vs Xperia XZ Premium comparison would be nice to see.
i didnt like the glossy glass back on the samsung s models but this htc is just over the top. while it looks good from an aesthetic view, it's something i would never ever use as my daily driver.
Jaime Rivera are you from Honduras man?
No he's from Haiti
Really dig that Space Balls shirt
Why did they made it look like the Ultra?
What an epic face did your daughter 4:32 lol
How about Sony Xperia XZ Premium?
Surprised at the positivity of this 24hr review...No headphone jack, ancient UI, no front facing speakers (anymore), bloat...I thought Jaime would burn this phone
Pocketnow is the best!
should I get this or keep my HTC 10 🤔
Please make a video with"Xperia xz premium full unboxing
watching with my u11 lol
I'm still waiting for your Xperia XZ Premium review!
Last year LG was the most underrated smartphone producer, this year I think it's HTC
I hope they release a Windows version like they did with the m8. The design's a bit bland but it looks so well put together
Even that i don't find this device like a big "WOW" but at least HTC is trying to go on, impruve their devices and bring some cool new innovaions. This is something that Apple has stoped to do like years ago.
So HTC deserved credit for that one.
just review the xz premium! and you will surprised , its such an awesome phone :) keeping the design aspect of the front side aside , everything about the sony is banger this time :)
I actually think they should have stuff with the same materials as the 10 as it was good with not showing up fingerprints. Why were you not impressed with the call quality? Can those ads be removed from the blink feed? This phone is 599 with the 50 off rebate. I am planning to get this or the sony premium
Scott M I'm with you, I was debating between this or XZP. But here are the reason I'm hold back on HTC this year.
- front glass is black no matter which color you get
- they need to bring the speaker grills back to the front like the m8
- along with bringing the speakers back to front, do *NOT* bring back the black border around the display found on m7 & m8 (make it similar to Xperias all one color front panel with no black border)
- lastly it's not a deal breaker to some, I can respect that. But I myself use the headphone jack.
Other than that, I feel HTC made a solid device. It's miles better then that tizen, I mean galaxy s8 & lg g6 with their make believe resolutions lmao. And that Red color kills the looks department. But I'm going with the red XZP. Sony or HTC you can't go wrong with either or.
I am still waiting to see what the price on the Sony is. Reviews for both phones been great and they are so fast. The Sony seems faster though . I also love that whole slow motion camera feature it has. And I love the waterproofing on the sony. I have the lg g6 now and took it swimming and since then the ear speaker is fucked. I am actually trying to have it exchanged or fixed through ebay so I can sell it. If I can get the sony for no more than 100 USD more than the HTC I will do that. But if its more than that then I will get htc. I love their customer service and they always make good products (I had the m7 which I loved, m8 which I hated, then the m10 which I loved other than the camera image stabilization)anyhow, let me know what u get and what u pay. Sony needs to hurry though and release. I also agree with u with that black front comment.....switch it up HTC
Scott M I had the m8, which I loved, but that damn camera was horrible. Software wise HTC is one of the best. Hopefully you can get your G6 working properly. I'll be sure to let you know when I get my XZP, btw Sony is taking preorders on June 19.
htc u 11 the best
don't care what anyone thinks. People can fall into heavy marketing of apple or samsung. i'm getting this for sure
Ash The Geek Honestly Samsung did pretty much everything that HTC did except with a headphone jack, no gimmicky squeeze feature and a bigger, better, higher resolution screen.
AllAlongTheWatchtower got ehm
AllAlongTheWatchtower yeah... and stutter since day 1. Thanks. I'll pass.
Damn, I would've put the case on straight out of the box because I am so insecure.
I am confused between U11 & Samsung Galaxy S8.
I am more of a camera and music guy.
Bezels I don't care.
Could you please do a full review of camera comparison between the two.
Shis Chougule I have no review for you but if where you I would wait till the U11 camera reviews are out. Then I would compare it to the S8 and see which one I prefer the most. You're into music listening so the U11 is the winner compared to the S8. If it beats the camera too, go for U11 without hesitation. If the S8 camera is still better then you have to sacrifice the music listening and get the S8 for better camera or sacrifice camera and get the U11 for better music listening.
Hope this helps!
alexdiezg Thank you so very much for the guidance.
Shis Chougule HTC u11
Ragheid Tahan cheers 👍👍
Shis Chougule S8 software sucks
No headphone jack: 99% of my audio gadgets is useless except the Bluetooth earbud.
HTC U11
what a coincidence!
I got the blue U11. It's a shame I have to cover it up with a protective case. The bare metal is too slippery.
But come on how many of these are actually going to sell compared to iPhone and Samsung galaxy
Glad I bought the S8+.
Space Balls: The Schwartz Awakens.
Best shirt ever!
Htc did come a long way finally they improved the camera but they are still way behind when it comes to design just look at it so much display is getting lost with these big bezels not to mention that over shiny back panel which gives it a cheap look, definitely an improvement but not the phone I would buy.
