I will joie de fi!!
She has a great heart, a calming voice, she says things like “the key protagonist” and “graveyard eyeshadow” and she loves to play with paper! Oh Joie, you are loved!!
Awww, so are you 😁😁😁❤️❤️❤️
@@joiedefi i love your channel
Yes i complety agree , a joy to watch n more so to listen to
The product that I use and use and use is similar to your paint stick. It's Caran d 'Ache neocolor II water soluble crayons. I do a lot of fine art as well, so invested heavily in the largest size tin. Definitely not cheap. But they create so many looks. You can apply them dry - heavily or lightly - for one look. You can wet the pigment once applied to the paper and the color shifts. You can make that wet area a complete wash or leave different opacities and thicknesses of the pigment. You also get a special strong color by drawing/painting with the crayon after you have wet it. Thank you for this tutorial. I inherited dozens of scrapbook papers that are way too garish for my taste and now you've given me a method to make them useful. You also made me google postcards to see that unfinished line in the middle of them 😆
🤣🤣 I love the sound of your water soluble crayons!! Thanks so much for popping by, and what a fantastic comment!!👍💜
I'm waiting for the lady to come for her fitting, soIn goin thru my ephemera to see what needs some more love.. August 7.2023. 👍🏾😊
👍🤗💜
You are a miracle worker. I've had these old little squares of chalk forever. I don't even know why I tried to save them. And now I have used them on some marble looking wild pink and white cardstock that I didn't like and haven't used. And you have helped me transform it into something usable. I cannot thank you enough for your RUclips channel. It took me awhile to get into what you do. But now that I have I just love it
You're awesome, thank you for your amazing comments 💜
Love you Joie! miss you and hope you are doing better! so glad i found an old video i haven't watched yet... 😊
The background distressed like this looks like a vintage wallpaper 😍, I have also purchased last year a 12×12 floral papers and I've used from it 2 sheets of paper. Now you have given me an idea of how to use them and I also keep the old eyeshadow pallets trying to use them to distress the pockets, embellishments and edges of the pages. This project is so much fun, totally love it ❤ thanks for sharing.
👍🥰💜
I'm a Colorist and I use Chalk and Eyeshadow on my Adult Coloring books on the background all the time. You can also use a cotton ball as a medium to make your application of them using the circular motion. Absolutely Stunning and so beautiful.
Great feedback and suggestions!! Thanks so much for your help here Patricia, and for popping by to watch!!😁💜
I love her creativity to include her softness in her voice.
Aww, so kind!!💜
Gorgeous postcards, Joie! Needless to say, I love your original methods of coloring and crafting on a budget 🥰 !!! Have a wonderful weekend 💖
You too, thanks for popping by to watch! 💜
I was watching Andrea and Tina’s channel and they referred to your channel. Glad I decided to watch your channel love your explicit details and using materials I didn’t think to use when creating my ephemera. Keep your creative thoughts flowing.
Ooooh I didn't know that I'd had a mention 🤭👍🏻💜
Joie~What a great idea, I can't wait to try it. You always look so "together". Your nails are lovely, as is your voice, and your projects have class. If I may, there is a proper term for the yellowing on the edges of the pages, either like what you are using, or in a book. It's called "foxing". xx
Oooh I didn't know that...thanks for letting me know 😁👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I'm always keen to learn...and thanks as well for such supportive words. They really do mean a lot to me. ❤️
Oh, these are so wonderful! So unique. I love you have different ways to go vintage. Something other than "coffee dye and distress ink edges"!! Going to do this as soon as I get home. Had to go to my kids, cuz no power or water for week at my house in Central Texas!! It's been a MESS down here. Grocery stores all closed, Or have empty shelves. Delivery trucks couldn't get in. I think I'm finally going home tomorrow, after 8 days away. Just too cold and difficult.
And I took NO craft supplies with me. Just been crocheting mini doilies for embellishments.
Yep,...got a makeup graveyard too. I always forget about them. Their sparkle is great add.
I too was wondering about eye shadow and chalk being "set" with something. I use hair spray or tad bit spray acrylic on watercolors.
Well thanks for another fantastic video. I think this is one of your BEST VIDEOS.
Austin, TX USA
Thanks so much Barbara.....I'm learning to relax a bit when I film. Sending best wishes to you in Texas! 👍🏻💕😊
I have a pad similuar to that one ..got a long time ago. Very pretty poject. Went to doctor. My left eye is almost 2020. Go back on August 8.. Today is July 31st. We love watching. Stay safe and I'm glad you are hanging in there. Good things come to those who wait and trust in the Lord no matter what. We're going to get thru this together ok?. Hugs lots of them and love from all of us to you.🤗🤗🤗🤗👍🙏💜💜
We ARE going to get through this 💜💜
These are superb cards. Your teaching abilities are out of this world. I have enjoyed watching your video.
That's so lovely to hear, thank you so, so much Judy!! 😁❤️
Joie, how delightful is this project. Love all the different materials you used to create the vintage feel. So interesting
Lovely video, Joie! Really enjoyed learning new techniques and loving how you have been diving into the vintage vibe more and more! Hugs, Barbara
I'm learning Barbara, I'm learning!!! Loving the range of designs that work under the umbrella of vintage too. Looking forward to playing with your digital butterflies too. What a collection!!! Awesome 👍🏻🤓❤️💜
Beautiful Joie I have lots of plain postcards, I also have that paper pad lovely colours tfs x
Can't wait to hear all about it!! Nice one! 😉💜
The pinks & rose colors of eye shadow & (powdered) blushes are great to use on peoples’ cheeks. It gives them the look of the old hand-tinted photographs! Wonderful video, thank you!
So right about the colours... great point Erica!!👍😁💜💜💜
Dear Joie, It is quite marvelous and so very inspirational to view your videos.... I am at the baby steps of art journaling ....
Determined to only use the materials I already have, I try this system--instead of buying stamps, I find an image I like, I trace it onto tracing paper, turn the paper over and rub a block of graphite in good amount over it... turn it over again & place it upon my paper....using a skinny ballpoint pen, I trace over the image and the image is beautifully transferred to my paper. Graphite can be bought in diff colors...black, brown, sepia, white etc.
Many heartfelt thanks to you for your gracious story-telling approach to making art.... 🌹
You're very welcome Fleur ❤️❤️❤️
Oh that marble is gorgeous. I have chalks from stamping up. No longer in stock, however, check eBay for sure. That stamp is amazing. Great idea for using eye shadow in place for chalk
OMGoodness I am learning so much and enjoying myself immensely. I have nearly everything you used buried deep in my art room. I have to start pulling right away. TFS
Let's do it Jan!!! Enjoy yourself 🤗👍💜
I am so glad I found your channel... I love these little postcards and the VERY best tip ever is using the chalks to bring a colour down and cover the white of the back of things. I have some of the same ones as you and i am hooked now on using them.... Thank you :D
I love the change brought about by using those chalks on the paper that is just too white for our projects! Brilliant! Hugs!
Hey it's Peggy!! Yes it was fun transforming the card 😉👍🏻💜
Brilliant using eye shadows for chalks!
I love that cardstock!! I can't wait to try this too :-)
sounds fabulous!!! have fun Mary:)
Can you tell me where to get the blooming flower 12x12 paper pad? Thank you
From a shop called The Works Brenda, in the UK. They are online but their stock varies in design from season to season.
Postcards are so versatile. I can use it as a journal cover or insert. Vintage ones such as these are my favorites. I might add lace to the edges for a cover. Thank you!!!
Love the idea for using these as a journal cover, inspired!!👍🤓💜
Although I've been drawing and crafting my entire life, I am new to journaling and junk journaling. I am absolutely hooked! I just love playing with all of my old art materials in new ways and am thrilled with the variety of new items available. Your videos are incredible learning tools and your work is just beautiful! Thank you so much. I have been enjoying your new videos and looking back at all of your older videos. Cheers!
Wow, thanks so much!! That's fabulous to hear!!🥰🥰🥰👍
Joie you did this video a year ago but I am absolutely loving your techniques. Can't wait to try them. Thank you for explaining so well each step.
Love it!
Aaaaah this one..... yes I need to do a few more like this... 😁👍💜💜💜💜
I love the pens ..Mt daughter gave me a set. 🙏💛🙏💜🙏🤗🤗❤
Love how you used a variety of colors. It looks beautiful
Thanks very much Nancy 💖💖💖
I love the Vintage Postcards/colours. Love the Butterflies. Many thanks for showing us crafting on a budget. I do have old eye shadows. Will give it a go. Take care. x Blessings x Mariana UK xx
Splendid!!!! 😊👍🏻💜💜💜💜
I've got some chalks now,so zim going to make some. The great grands are coming over for Spring break so we can play with you. I have some card stock similar to yours. Had it for a long time. Thanks again Joie.🤗🤗😊💙
That card stock is delightful, Joie. Indeed, getting the paper pad from eBay was such a blessing. 13.00 for 2 pads double sided.
fantastic!!
I am new to the junk journal world. I’ve been watching a lot of different artist and their podcasts. I got a lot of information from Joie. I’m definitely subscribing. I did enjoy her accent, and her cute little vocabulary. I thought of some thing as I was watching your podcast, I have never heard of an American being in another country, and someone saying ” oh!! I just love your American accent”!!! Its usually something like “Oh, you are American”. Anyway, thanks for listening, truly did enjoy your podcast. Thank you.
You're very welcome!!❤️
👍💕
Excellent presentation. Such warm and inviting comments. Thank you. Love the ideas. 💜
Ooooh thanks very much!!💜👍
Just Magnificently Beautiful. I Truly Love Vintage&Butterflies💜🦋
Awesome!🤓💜
Yes! These are so beautiful. I have used makeup in the past and I was so excited to see you yse the Arteza Mica powder. I bought them as a splurge before the holidays and the box has not been opened 🥺 Thank you so much Joie. I am so glad I found your channel!
Time to have some fun with that mica!! 😁👍🏻❣️
@@joiedefi Yeah, it is🙂
Absolutely beautiful faux postcards, loving all the ideals from the chalks & grave yard eyeshadows, lol I've used eyeshadows when I first started this journey of making journals and they work really good, not knowing I watched Maremi Small Art , to my surprise the colors are still looking good on the pages. Excited to get started using chalks as well, your postcards are so beautiful and can't wait to give this a try. Can't seem to finish journals cause I'm making more ephemera then journals so this will be on my list to start tomorrow. Thanks for sharing and explaining in all your videos its helpful/useful and it does always make a difference once the items are completed!!!!
You've made me think April...maybe I need to do a few simple junk journal pages....using some of this stuff. Would a simple, relatively short video be if any interest...I value your opinion, whatever that is. A "no" is perfectly fine! 😁👍🏻❤️❤️❤️
I have some of the chalks I won about 20 years ago. Never used them. Now I need to pull them out and give this a go. Thanks for sharing.
You absolutely do Barbara, time to dig them out!
Thank yoy Joie for this lovely video. I am definatley going to be making some of these post cards. I have been gifted genuine old post cards, unused, but am going to be doimg your distressing ideas, also adding some pretty paper and distressing that tool Thank you for your inspiration and for sharing you wonderful talent with us. The time we spend with you just flies by, your voice is so calming and you explain the method so clearly, that it becomes a pleasure to watch and just listen. THANK YOU once again. Sending you Blessings and hugs from Cape Town South Africa. Diana Fox
Oh Diana you are so kind..... it's lovely to hear that you enjoy my videos...makes it all so worthwhile. Truly I am very grateful... have fun with those postcards..... They are no doubt going to be a thing of beauty 👌😁💜💐💐💐
I absolutely LOVE this project!!! I came over from Tina's channel to watch your livestream last week and subscribed immediately!! I love everything about your style, dual camera angles, your explanations, presentation and projects. Your creative aesthetic is so much like my own...make due with what you have! I have used all sorts of make-up as an art supply for ages and make my own sprays using mica eyeshadows.
The stamp is Stampers Anonymous, and I think it might be. Try eBay as well!! Sounds like you could give me a few tips. Great that you spot and like the dual camera angle.....makes it worth it!!! 😄💜
@@joiedefi 😊
May 4/ 2024..Makimg some as a gift. Hope you are feeling better. ..Take care of yourself.🙏🤗💜💜
I have that Paperstack, my favourite prints and colours, but I didn't want to waste it by just using it! Thank you for the inspiration, can't wait to get started! Thank you for sharing!
Awesome!! I've got some more ideas coming soon that you might like then Jan, enjoy!!!💜🤓
Those are so gorgeous!!!
I will be trying these techniques and using eye shadow.
Thank you for sharing!!!💕
You're very welcome 😉💜
Hi Joie! Another fabulous little project ☺️. I can’t get enough of your awesome creations!!! Can I tell you how much I LOVE the image of the little man, the one you said looks so smart lol! I’m so drawn to that picture 🤦🏽♀️😂.
Tee hee he is smart isn't he 👍🏻😁😁😁
This is a great idea I have had chalk for about 4 years and never used them because I thought they would just rub off so I would never use them, maybe I better get them out, love the post card
Let's do it!!!
I am so glad Tina mentioned your channel. Love watching your process of using affordable ways to create. Thank you for sharing
Great to see you here Shelley!! I'm very happy about that too! 😁 Welcome on board, Joie 💜🌿
"Graveyard eyeshadows" - LOL! Thank you for all the great ideas for crafting on a budget - lovely end results as always.
My pleasure...and always good to see you here 😁 hugs, Joie ❤️❤️
Lovely and creative idea to use old eye shadow! You can get the eyeshadows cheap at the Dollar Tree. 🤗🐞🥰
You sure can!!
Your ideas are brilliant! Thank you so much for your innovative creativity! These tags are so lovely.
thanks very much Sophia!!
While watching you work is fascinating, hearing your reasons for each step is so very helpful. Thank you for sharing your talent and creativity.
I have found that a Qtip, especially those with a pointed end, work well with chalks. They allow you to have a bit more control over where the powder is added.
And thanks for such helpful feedback! I'm so pleased that you enjoyed this😊🌹
How pretty! I never thought of using eye shadows for this. Amazing! 💕
Hehe 🥰🥰💜👍
Very pretty. Thanks. I am currently obsessed with decoupage!
Excellent!!!!! 😁💜
Oh my, Joie... I love this technique. Will be sharing in a future design team project but give you all the credit. I all but drooled when you opened the Arteza mica box. Sooo pretty. That copper almost gave that picture a tin-type effect. Thanks for sharing. Creative Blessings!
That mica 🤭🤭 I know........ 💜💜💜👍🥰
Enjoyed your tutorial very much! Funny, I was pondering just the other day if eyeshadow was feasible as a way to add color... thank you for sharing! 😍
This is the most information packed, well presented and interesting tutorial ever! Thank you Joie!!
Awwww, how lovely!! ❣️❣️❣️
They are lovely. Thank you for sharing your gift with us.
You're absolutely welcome Darlene, great to see you here 👍🏻😊❤️❤️❤️
Omgosh! I never would have thought to use old eye shadows. I have a ton of them lol! Great tip! This video also made me think of my oil pastels. That might work too! Must have a play with these ideas. 👍❤🌺
Would be great to have a go with those pastels!!
Looks fab, can't wait yo start playing, xx
Fantastic 👍🏻😉❤️❤️❤️
I love this idea very much...I, too, have a mystery container full of eye shadow...lol......😻
Lol 🤓🤣🤣🤣
I love this paperstock, used it for lots of small projects for my journals! I needed more inspiration when I found this video of yours Joie! I am making a journal for a good friend who always seems to be doing things for others, so this is a special gift for her to say thank you! Thanks Joie love the video! So glad I found you a little while ago!
I'm so glad that you found me too!! 🤓👍 I like the sound of your Journal, your friend will be so pleased to receive this 💜💜💜
Its based on her favourite flower the pansy,
I used old eye shaws to make shimmer sprays x lovely set of postcards x
That's fantastic to hear , sounds like my kind of spray!!! Welcome to my channel!💜😁👍
Thank you for giving your criteria for using some elements over others. Very helpful 👍🏻
You're very welcome!! I always try to explain the "why" if possible. Thanks for popping by to watch 😁💜
Just discovered you and your videos...OMG...I'm in love! Your teaching style is so very helpful. So happy I found you. Thank you, thank you!
I'll keep playing and filming then 😁❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for sharing 💕🙏🏼🌹 I absolutely Love that you explain as you go I have learned so much. Never seen an ombre’ ink pad before
It's an old ink pad but super effective, thanks so much Wendy!!🥰👍💜
This video really inspired me to make these. Thank you!
Oh Joie! I love them! I used to sell make up so have tons of "faux chalk" available. I cannot contain myself lol. I'm already picking out my papers. Thank you so much.
Fantastic!!! 👍🏻😊💜
Very Pretty! Love that you use your eyeshadows too :)
😁😁😁💜💜💜
I am in love with this. It's just perfect and I will give them a try, thank you so very much. Mica powder, who would have thought. Perfect
Share pictures!! Would be great to see them! 😁❤️
I'd forgotten about my chalks but I am going to dig them out!
Awesome 👍🏻❣️
Thank you for such a fun project! I loved your techniques, and I love listening to you talk. I have learned a great deal from you. Thank you, again!
Awww, so lovely Laurie 😁🌹💜
Very pretty! Thank you for sharing your ideas!❤️
You're very welcome Grace 👍🥰
I just find new videos of yours I love all the time! Thank you for sharing ❤
You're welcome
This looks like fun. I'm going to try this too. Thanks for the inspiration and lesson on making the postcards.
You're very welcome Paulette 😁🌹
Just found your channel. I’m just starting to junk journal so I appreciate that you explain everything in detail.
I'm getting better at that too, I mean giving detail. Great to meet you Janet, I'm delighted that you found this!!😁💜👍
I use soft shelf liner for the chalk application. My cat wasn't a fan of the craft foam.
Your postcards are gorgeous Joie. Yellowing at the side of your page is called foxing and we actually get a magazine called Slightly Foxed which has articles about vintage books of course! I love your stamps. I’m spent up. I will go “shopping” in my own stash. Can you suggest a way to get stamped lines without a stamp. I’m thinking about wool or something similar - what would you suggest?
Stamped lines without a stamp....try gluing string in a wiggly shape onto an old ink pad. Make your own stamp. String is less absorbant than wool so should retain more shape. Or draw freehand? Use a watercolour pencil so you can blur the lines a bit. Foxing is a new term for me today, cheers buddy 🤓👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💜💜💜
good to know i'm not the only one who uses old eyeshadows to paint paper lol
Bring it on!! 🤭💜👍🏻
Some great ideas there. I'm new to crafting and can't believe how much I'm enjoying it. I also learn something new every day and have picked up some great ideas from your channel. Thank you x
Great to hear this Sandra, welcome to my channel and to all the glorious joy that is junk journaling and playing around with paper ☺️👍🏻🌹
i spent 30.00 on floral napkins on amazon they are so beautiful,im using my mod podge finally gluong them to watercolor paper to make tags and jornal covers ,i came up with a clever way to make antennas for my butterflies with cherry stems. try it i just used aleenes tack glue on the backs of the butterflies that i rubber stamped a tiny peice of paper to cover the stems
So creative Gina!!! Sounds wonderful 😁👍❤️
I also use old blushes with the old eye shadows
Oooh nice!!👍💜
Gorgeous creations. Love it!
Thanks Sylvia!!
Thank you so much for this video Joie. I have so many of the paper/cardstock packs from the works and didn't know what to do with them other than look and admire the pretty designs. I also have a very old chalk set which I used once or twice 10years or longer ago now I know what to do with both. Do you think I could use pastels too? found a large set of them in a box again not looked at since goodness knows when. I am so pleased that people are starting to recognise your talent. You have totally inspired me and your videos have kept me going while I am going through cancer treatment. You are a life saver especially in the early hours of the morning when I can't sleep. Keep up the good work and I am looking forward to your next video. xx
Awww Pauline....first of all I'm sending you my best wishes...thanks too for such an amazing comment. I think that pastels would work... sometimes I use mine. I scratch pastel dust off and dab the foam into that for more colour when I need it. More control that way. Definitely watch next week.... something special coming for my subscribers to celebrate 25,000 clicking that button. 💜💜💜
Oh how fun! What a lovely post card inspiration design; you are ever so talented and creative. Thank you for sharing.
🥰💜👍🏻
Beautiful cards & wonderful instructions. Thanks!
Awesome, thanks!!
Really enjoyed this video and love how you explain why you use a particular product and give us alternatives too...I learn so much watching you that is different to other creators...thank you so much for sharing your knowledge x
That's lovely to hear!! Thank you so much for your kind and auper helpful feedback!!! Joie 💜🌿
awesome idea and using up old supplies
Thanks very much Sandy! 💓
Just lovely Joie! I have so many of those simple craft supplies I my craft space. Thank you for motivating me to create beautiful vintage postcards. Going to give it a go! You are such a great teacher! ❤️
... you're awesome too Carole, thanks so much for taking the time to share your feedback!! 🥰👍💜💜
They are so beautiful ❤
Thank you so much
Gorgeous and easy! Love these! TFS the inspiration!
Splendid!! 😀👍💜
I Love these Joie. I have the same paper pad so definitely going to have fun playing. I have recently bought the Tim Holtz deckle edge trimmer and I absolutely love it. I know it’s a relatively new product and not cheap but I’m so pleased I went for it and bought it. Also what’s the long fern type stamp you’re using from? I love the effect it gives. 😁🌸🌻🦋
Sounds like a good purchase 👍🏻😁 The fern stamp I'm struggling to identify at the moment. It's an old one, like lots of my stuff. I'll keep trying to find the wrapper 🤭 Glad you enjoyed this one....I keep trying to improve as I learn how to use editing software. 👍🏻💜
Absolutely stunning!!!!
Thanks very much!😁💜🐦
Wonderful use of chalks. I still have chalks from 15 years ago, and they are still going strong!
They can last, well, almost forever!! 😁 Mine are pretty old... Thanks for popping by to watch Jacqui 👍🏻💓
Love these very much. Thank you for the inspiration!
You're very welcome Lori! 😁💜
Beautiful project! I can’t wait to get started.
Fantastic!!! Great to hear that Gloria!!
Love these!! Thank you for showing how you did them.
My pleasure Michele 😁❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for this video. I had a go and loved it
These are simply gorgeous! Love them all!
Awww, thanks Kim!! 🤔💜💜💜💜
Adorable and great use of papers! I’m sure I will have the perfect paper and I, too love making things in 3s. One for me and 2 to give away.
Sounds perfect Pamela.....and then perhaps another 3 👍🏻😁 Have fun!! 💜
