I remember as a kid watching this for the first time,the ending part when Centipede came and turned his cape like a flag and had the other guy do those fast back flips,right then I wanted to learn to do back flips real fast and in time I mastered it.Love the part when Lizard came and use his cape to whip dude upside down and kicked his head off his shoulders,that was awesome as a kid in the 80's.I was suprise to see this movie after watching the Five Deadly Venoms as a kid.I didn't know through out time they did so many movies.i seen just about all of them.The Cripple Revenger of the Deadly Venoms, Invincible Sholoin,The Advengers,The Kid with the Golden Arms,Ten Tigers,House of Deadly Traps, Venom Mob, etc all great Brothers Shaws movies
One thing to look out for in martial arts movies is how many moves are made before a cut. The “venom mob” were known to be able to string together up to 30+ moves before a cut. Most other movies/actors strung together as little as 5 moves before a cut.
You know, I think this may be the first time I've ever seen the uncut version with the head getting kicked off. Of course, I'd heard about it for years, but every copy I ever had back in the day was a bootleg of the censored-for-tv version. I've seen balls getting ripped off in '2 Champions of Shaolin' and 'Legendary Weapons of China', but I never saw the decapitation til now!
5:10 mark - once more, character portrayed by Lung Tien Hsieng (in this case, Wong Chow Ming) doesn't make it to the end of the story alive, just like his appearances in many other SB productions ("Five Element Ninjas", "Sword Stained with Royal Blood", "Flag of Iron"). Compared to many of his other appearances (and I can't say I've seen all of them), this is the closest his character has come. Once again, I say: "Such a Dreadful Pity." But even so, this is still a classic work of the Shaw Brothers Studio.
50 years later and Hollywood still can't direct, choreograph, shoot, edit, or conceive of action as good as this.
