- The ZOZO app offers a line of affordable, size-free clothing custom-made for your body. The ZOZO app promises to offer a personalized clothing experience you can't get in stores, since traditional sizing tends to be inconsistent. The ZOZO app creates clothing patterns then uses the ZOZO measurement system to capture customers' precise measurements. The result is supposed to be custom clothing made just for you.
Producers Nico, Medha, Aj, and Jake test out the ZOZO app to see if it could potentially solve their sizing problems. They go through the entire ZOZO app process, order their custom clothes, then do a try-on to figure out if the ZOZO app is actually worth the money.

Am in the only one noticing how their clothes don't fit like tailored clothes should? I bet they just overprice the standard measuremented clothes you can find in stores
Noelia Gutierrez prices seem about on par with stores unless shopping at Walmart.
You are correct Noelia - the clothes fits really bad. I used to work as an apparel technical designer and I would have NEVER approved this items for production 'cause the fit is bad and the stores reject them. Also ZoZo reported a giant financial loss from this, which probably means they will fade into oblivion.
I agree with you, the clothes don't fit and I think they know it too, but they have to advertise the damn app. I'll just stick to ordering clothes online and sending back; that improves my relationship with the postal office employees.
The ones that fit the "best" were on the first guy. The rest of them were not very appealing in fit.

I've started shopping in the men's departments and I can't believe how deep the jeans pockets are!! Not only that, their clothes are made better, use nicer fabric (softer! Why do they get softer??), and cost less.

Denim shrinks after washing at different rate due to cotton quality. They should wash Jean's in cold water and hang dry and give an update and then maybe wash in cold water a third time and air dry without heat in dryer and give an update.

In a world of millions of ready-to-wear pieces, clothes are not going to just fit everyone. I had a boss where every article of her clothing fit, and that was because she took everything-EVERYTHING- to a seamstress so that they would fit her correctly. While some people may say this is expensive, it's actually cheaper than buying article of clothing after article of clothing then only wearing them once or returning them. There's so much textile waste that I wish people would get more clothes altered than buying more clothes than they need.
Literally none of the clothes fit them correctly. Disappointing. The concept is awesome.

Great concept, terrible clothing choices. You don't need specific measurements to buy basics. This is why there are different fits. I wonder how wide their range of sizes are, especially for their jeans.

I think they were far too generous in their reviews,especially with the price of it. like I get that people pay good money for quality looking and fitting clothes, but not...basic neutrals. I just feel like you could find a basic tee that fits around the same for far less than

I think technology ZOZO would be great for people who like to sew their own clothes. I would pay extra for a tailored made sewing pattern.
SewistCAD on Etsy makes custom PDF patterns if you provide them with your measurements (she also has another shop called Lekala for some reason.) They have a 4.5 star rating out of 500 reviews, but I've never personally tried any of their stuff.
Zozo no longer exists. It's a good business model though. Someone please start up a company doing this!

eShakti has been doing this (sans polka dot CGI suit) for several years, with much better results IMO. Also, I’d like to have seen what happened to these clothes after multiple washings. And how is it that inseam wasn’t measured? Kind of important for pants! Oh well, really cool idea! The first guy out of the gate always takes the fall for the second, third, fifteenth-comers who improve upon it. Come on innovators, make it so!

zozo is a fail. plus their styles and pricing are a joke. this app is also a joke. its a try once app. and they dont tailor make them. they make thousands of a certain size thats closest to the measurements you enter. lets face it. choosing clothes will never be better than going to a store and seeing how that fits and makes you feel. all these guys are out their money and zozo took it.

y’all i love safiya and this is no hate but these clothes took them 3 weeks to get so unless they heard the video idea leaked somewhere, this was their original idea. youtubers can try the same challenges and stuff, it’s not like the first youtuber to try instantly owns the challenge/video idea.

I think it was a scam. They were just getting basic measurements, not custom sewing individual pieces. Scam.
How is that ever supposed to work out in terms of pricing and production?
What, you scan a hundred different people with wildly different body sizes into your app, wait for them to make even more adjustments in your store and then what? Send the order over to wherever you have your clothing manufactured to keep THIS low a price and tell them to sew this one shirt with shorter sleeves but wider shoulders whereas that other one needs to fit an extra big bust but smaller shoulders?
The app must be a gimmick. The most this can do is narrow down which standardised size you send your customers but there is no way I can see you could reliably produce such individual clothing in that short amount of time for that low a price.
The fact that the crotch areas look saggy in most of the pants and the shorter guy basically swims in his clothes is indicative of that.
"There's a little bit of room here in the breadbasket area-- I appreciate the compliment Zozo." lol it took me a couple of watch repeats to get that. =)

May 8th - I click the link to order a ZOZOSuit and I get this message, "Important notice: ZOZO has stopped selling in the Americas, Asia Pacific and Middle East."

This was obviously sponsored. not one of these outfits looked like they fit correctly and they were clearly trying very hard to find good things to say about the clothes.
Putting the they copied Safiya argument aside for a moment, I think by seeing all these people order from the app and them suggesting only plain t shirts and jeans they don’t have such a huge range of clothes and is very selected so in my mind that’s the biggest disappointment. It’s a fail for me.

There's no way you can get custom clothes at this price point. I'm guessing the materials are low quality, the construction is shoddy, and they are underpaying their labor force.
bro, i think it's expensive already. in my place, quality pants would about 35-40 dollars. quality plain tops would be 10 dollars, dresses and other fashionable tops at most would be around 45-60 dollars.
Stop copying other youtubers like at least give them credit and where you get the idea

You know what size you are for shoes, then just do the same for the rest of your body and memorize it or write it somewhere. Why would you want to go through all that trouble , instead of just learning how to take your own measurements perfectly accurately.

I wondered how these apps can possibly be "20% more accurate than a tailor" while not having a person physically measure you
This tech has existed for awhile, but not in an app. A huge chamber that someone would stand in, then be 3d scanned was on tour in US malls several years ago. It’d give sizes for popular brands. But this, with custom sizing, is definitely better.
I think it's a way better concept. I'd prefer not to be measured in public, fine with scanning it at home.

Yep, me too. She was whiney. She probably was expecting hootchie, painted- on tight jeans, that isn't what 'custom' clothes are.
They were just made out of an elastic material, that's all. There is no difference to store jeans. All of the pants were a little loose around the joint of the hips and legs. There was no perfect fitting.

Guy #1 The shirt looks large on him. Jeans look like they may stand test of time. Still look large.
Girl #1 Shirt is big and it was recommended size. Jeans would be nicer in a darker wash.
Guy #2 T shirt looks normal. Could have bought it for much less at Target. Jeans, look like a great material. They are nice but yes, baggy.
Girl #2 Top looks great styled with the front tucked in. Jeans look a bit baggy and i think they look nice too.
OVERALL OPINION: Over priced clothes. You have better luck spending money on levis. Just have some patience and try on outfits at the store and check out the sales rack. Also dont be afraid to thrift.
Zozo suit has failed, closed down in all countries and soon closing the Japanese operation. So don’t bother watching the video.

What I think is interesting is how so many people assume that US clothing "made to measure" would fit like Japanese clothing "mass produced to pattern... with measurements". It's 100% different. My husband and I lived in Japan for 3 years and bought entirely new wardrobes there and we both commented that the clothing was cut differently and hugs the body differently. Ex his shirts were designed to NEVER raise the arms above the head unless bent at a 90 degree angle- BC that is Japanese movements- arms at sides to bow, arms bent at 90 degrees near body- that's it. No other movements occur during their day.
The trousers tend to be tapered sharply in on the bottom bc when one sits they don't want them to ride up to high.
The second chick clearly didn't want her measurements to be shown online so they used the results of the first girl lol.

One HARD lesson that I learned about shopping for clothing is that you will NEVER feel comfortable in anything (even if it is custom made for you) if you are not comfortable in your own body. You get used to buying whatever "fits" and not what would actually look good on you, because you can't find it in your size. You then get caught up in a fad or a style of clothing that is often for a specific body type, which is NOT YOURS, and you buy that style - it may fit - but it does not look good. For example, this app may not tell you that super skinny jeans often look best on narrow thighs and the boot cut looks fabulous on curvy girls or that not everyone needs to wear a low rise cut. If you "just buy anything" or buy for the body that you WISH you had. DON'T! You think your "in style" but you are not looking your best plus you look uncomfortable! Before you buy another item, even custom made, accept your look as it PRESENTLY IS! Do some research and find someone shaped like you that dresses well and see what they are wearing. Get the assistance of a personal shopper (some are free!) or fashionable friend. FIRST, accept and find what looks good on you, THEN customize it with your own personal style. Trust me, you will feel good, sexy, smart and comfortable in your clothes!
I got jeans from ZOZO and they were AWFUL! I would say they were at least 2 sizes too big. When I compared my measurements to the jeans, the waist was literally 4” bigger...how is the world is that a custom fit for me?!?!?!?

I have a Zozo spandex outfit. They sent it for free. I wanted to try the clothes but I couldn't see spending 100$ on a single outfit when I can get like at least 3 outfits for that price. But I adore the spandex.

i think the best way to get clothes is by taking the item you love and copying it in a new color/style. tailor made by copying what you have. no sizing apps, even no measuring tapes. copying items is the way.

I tried one of these and my custom outfit was BANANAS. As in: horrendous. The jeans were so big they literally fell off my body and the shirt could have fit about two of me inside. I double-checked my measurements before ordering and they were correct, so IDK where this thing went wrong, but it was sooooo wrong.

FYI you should probably go get measurements. That way you won't waste money. You can get tailor tape at any craft store. You can also find tutorials here on RUclips and other sites on how to measure yourself.
As for shoe size. Many shoe stores have a device to measure your feet. If you need help just ask one of the employees.
I love sewing and could definitely imagine using an app like that to get my exact mesurements for patterns 🤔🤔🤔
