    What is truly sad is that this video has only 1.511 views. What is being done to us black people is being done purposely.

    There just has to be more discussions like this more often...though its already going down, its best to bring pioneers of all 4 elements(i mean real pioneers such as these heroes right here) along with Bambataa and the Zulu Nation. Not sure if they had such a thing go down in the Zulu anniversary this year but we gotta find the funds to pay these gentlemen along with Women who also set a great example behind the movement as well to speak about where the culture was, where it is now & what we can do for the future........Hope it goes down. Peace from Puerto Rico!!!(we too need this too check brothas and sistas on Reggaeton, Salsa and other genres of music) Peace

    I think the conscious rap of the late 80's to early 90's period declined when it crossed over to the mainstream. This crossover happened through Arrested Development and to a lesser extent Public Enemy. PE and AD getting lots of MTV exposure and doing Lollapalooza concerts meant they had mainstream(white) acceptance. Once Afrocentric rap crossed over it lost some of it's edge. Afrocentric/conscious rap works better when it's not mainstream,but you can't always control how popular a particular artist and their music will become.

    this video doesn't have any views because BET (who use to play Kool Moe Dee) won't post or share this, no major hip hop radio stations (who have Hip Hop legends working for them) will post this or tweet it, russell simmons (who is funding the WORLDSTARHIPHOP movie), diddy, all these big name black people in music won't share or post this video because he's calling them out. Until we start calling these people out and stop worrying about being perceived as "haters", nothing will change. we are just peons and cattle to these people, our voices don't matter. until a key player bucks the system, nothing will change.

    Wow, this is a lot of information that I wanted for my research. I'm seriously looking into how different cultures and different places affected Hip Hop, and corporations never came into my mind for the early rap scene as one of those groups. I mean, we all know how corporations like their control, so I don't know how it didn't occur to me that it started early with rap.

    @ 7:09.......... Kool Moe Dee basically said - "BIGGIE started the Gangster Rap kind of Music in NYC" !!!!
    Thats not true .
    Actually it was a Hardcore Rap Group called - (ONYX) who were the 1st NYC Rappers who started Rappin about Gangster Shit .
    CURSING, GUNS, KILLING, SHOOTING, HATING POLICE, BITCHES & HOES
    were all said in their first album called - (BACDAFUCUP) in 1993,
    Before BIGGIE

    • @BrickCity_101
      @BrickCity_101 Год назад

      Kool Moe Dee just proved his point....you did exactly what he said the infrastructure normally does with Hip Hop ....you took one small portion of what he was saying and added false narrative......THATS NOT WHAT HE WAS SAYING!!!
      .....He said BIGS first album was the only album that "mirrored " The Chronic" ....so they use that as a pattern to create more of that album type of music concept.....(so on and so fourth) .......PLEASE PAY ATTENTION!!

      @@marcuslouissaint5001Run DMC was nowhere near hardcore rap. They didn't rap about selling dope, sticking people up or effing different girls. I'm not sure who started it first on the East Coast but it sure wasn't them.

    Enough talk DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!! He has a platform. He can probably get Dr Dre on the phone, Dre could get Jay on the phone, Jay could get Wayne on the phone AND MAKE A CHANGE! LIKE IT OR NOT, MUSIC IS THE MOST INFLUENTIAL PIECE OF OUR CHILDREN'S MIND SET. What they're fed has a tremendous affect on behavior, education, and subsequently the success or impending doom of black America.

    amazing video I agree 100% gangsta rap was negative but I look at it both ways 90s gangsta rap hardcore rappers was really lyrical and witty but very one sided at the same time I agree. but today so Called street rappers are not lyrical at all most of them most of them are trapper rappers that mumble though music. I agree hip hop should stayed in the roots of it all and the sound as well. even today's production in 2010s era is very digital and artificial sounded. 80s/90s hip hop was analog warmth raw feeling that feels right and easy to listen to in your ears. that's why I stick to the classics that's it I don't go further than that.

    Let's call a Spade a Spade. Moe Dee was probably greatest lyricist of all time, and he knows it. If the black community listened to rappers like him it would be productive and united. There is no point having talent if its not used positively, thats why Biggie was one the worst lyricist ever. Moe Dee needs to stop putting down his work - Funke Wisdom was years ahead of its time
