DL2 is more like a grapple swing mechanic while DL1 was a grapple shot like Halo Infinite.
Yeah Dying Light 2s is much more realistic and better.
Halo Infinite has an amazing grapple hook with alot of tech, not the best comparison. It's more like Black Ops 4

You can still spam the grapple on walls and ceilings to throw yourself towards it, you're supposed to use it alongside normal parkour but most people don't care and just use it like the DL1 hook
DL1 grapple was goated
To be fair, the implementation of the grapple in this game is just as lacking as it was in dl1. If it were actually _required_ in some later parts of the map, or would make traversing the ground much easier if used efficiently in parkour combos, THEN the grapple would be used way more intentionally. Like this it's about as useful as the dl1 hook, but less unrealistic

I like this grapple. DL1 grapple made freerunning pointless and took the adventure out of the game where as this is just helps you swing about and you still have to use your parkour skills to manoeuvre about. Love this game so far!
Ill admit it definitely wasn't the most satisfying grappling hook to use, to this day I still think mec has the best grapple

DL1 grappling made free running pointless, thats why i never used it.
DL2 has made it more of a tool instead of a traversal replacement.
I literally never used it aswell

it's better than DL1's grapple. it's extremely rewarding to get good with. I have over 110 hours and you look at the map very differently. alot of people don't realise if you tap the grapple it pulls you in and you can use that momentum to traverse

Actually this is possible. While swinging on the rope or hook, hold Interaction button (F/Square/X), and move up or down, and you can climb. Have fun!

Its not a batman hook that pulls you in anymore, you now use it to swing. For the most part.

I prefer DL1 grapple. The number of times physics whacked out and threw me the wrong way during a swing is annoying. The option to climb/descend the rope would of probably turned my opinion around tbh.
This pisses me off so much, The fact that you could use the hook to attach it to a rooftop if you manage to miss the jump, but you aren't able to climb up to save yourself falling to the streets... such an easy thing to implement aswell

I like dying light 2. I am having a great time with it. There are some things that the first game did better at though
Like the aesthic of the world. I love dying light 2 but the aesthic is to bright/light while dying light 1 was dark had some good sunlight and the night was dark dark
@@Randomized_tv it makes sense for it to be lighter in dl2 though, 15 years after humanity has fallen and there's no city wide electricity or industry, which means no light pollution and no regular pollution either, which means clearer skies, moonlight and starlight are brighter, and the fact that so much vegetation has taken over the world again it has a brighter, more vibrant look to it. It's different but I like it cause it makes sense 🤷🏼♂️

Personally I love back in dying light you could fall down from the greatest of heights and as long as you grappled The ground before you land you were safe

My grapple hook got bugged when I joined my friend’s session when he had the grapple hook and I didn't have it yet. But the game gave me the grapple hook and the blueprint but when I upgraded it, it stayed the same at level one, and I don't know how to fix this. I'm playing on Xbox Series X.
Happened to my cousin when he joined me. If you join a host who is ahead of you and has the UV flashlight and grapple hook and all that it will give those to you until you leave their lobby.. except for in my experience with my friend where I was with him when he got the paraglider and it let me keep the glider when I was in old villedor still
Dl1 was morw of a grapple gun not a grapple hook. It didnt make freerunning pointless but it did make it easier to escape encounters

Remember to jump with the hook using the MOUSE WHEEL (hook button), not with the space bar (jump button). The jump button has less speed and height.
This sequel surpasses the first game in almost every way. I love it
DL 2 doesnt have a manual save / load system like DL1, instead it has a shitty save every 5 minutes auto save. definitely a downgrade that they shouldve kept
I think the night is awful in D2, totaly easy, not scary, and the moment you hit lvl 4 you get swarmed by 6 volatiles, poping out of nowhere, also the roofs are safe, so you wont get into chase unless you want it, kinda makes it not that scary too, and story sucks dick but gameplay better

she became night Runner instead of US, the Mia having like 2 dialogues and then rip, and this climbing the tower, not a single volatile, I was so scared and excited at the beginning and after i climbed it was like "thats it?", we will get dlc in a month i think so high hopes but wonder how they gonna do it with those endings
How ? The combat feels less heavy and realistic and more arcadey. The parkour improved in some aspects ( like the grappling hook ) and got downgraded in some other aspects, it feels lighter almost like you're floating your way around DL1 felt more grounded but you were still fast.
The skill tree is also a huge downgrade, most of the skills aren't that interesting. I liked the idea of the inhibitors but the implementation is lazy, why not have two skill trees one where you spend skill points that you get from parkour and combat and another where you use the inhibitors to add damage, stamina, health, speed, armor, etc...
The late game in DL1 was extremely fun, you could run around endlessly decapitating zombies in one hits to relieve stress from real life, now you don't since zombies get more and more tanky while your weapons deal barely enough damage to two shot enemies even with a build for a certain weapon type.
Dying Light 1 was a game that focused heavily on a believable gameplay with a story that put you in a direction for you to enjoy that gameplay. Dying Light 2 feels like every far cry that has come out since Far Cry 3 except with more developped parkour mechanics and zombies. The majority are going to enjoy this game but I hardly see how this is an improvement over DL1. I also want to point out that I've played DL1 right after I finished DL2 to make sure it wasn't my nostalgia clouding my judgement and it wasn't.
this confuses me.. a hook goes into the wall fairly high up.. but the character only climbs like a foot?
That's because the game doesn't want you to use the grapple to climb, but to give you momentum or to change direction.
Grapple isn't meant to be used that way. Besides climbing is much faster than whatever this is lmfao.

Damn I'm probably one of the few who liked the DL1 grappling hook more 😅😬. Obviously it made going around easier making parkour useless sometimes but it only had 2 charges that took a while to recharge. It was good imo. This looks good too though and the scenery in this game looks so stunning!
I prefer the original grappling hook. The feeling of flying across the map was great
DL2 Grappling Hook at lvl 3 synergies with Head stomp skill And you can kill enemies in a matter of secs

The only thing that has me down about the grapple is i wouldve liked to have it as a bit of a weapon too, like a rope dart kind of thing nothing too powerful just an alternative to fists if some how all ur weapons break

uv light second upgrade is so good for night chases
Tip flash it over and over (full aoe is about 1.5 sec but doesn’t have a cool down beyond the normal battery) and watch the virals kneel over in piles.

Trust me it is probably the best thing you will ever get from this game. I'm having a shit ton of fun with the upgraded hook especially in central loop. It literally is Spiderman PS4 but in first person. Euphoric experience.

Why would you do that if jumping off of a single enemy gives you even more height and costs MUCH less stamina?
sometimes there might be no enemy, and you need to get to high roof or smth
they nerfed the grapple hook because it was to powerfull in the first game only to make the Paraglider OP instead.

U need to collect millitary Tech from airdrops then U can Upgrade IT at any craftmaster for Level 2 U need 2x millitary Tech and for Max lvl 3x
Anybody else has the problem that you can't upgrade the grapple at all? I finished the game but the grappling hook is never showing up at the craftmaster so it's stuck at level 1...

that grappling hook was more like "you don't need legs anymore", kind of how guns made it like "you don't need arms anymore"

I miss dying light 1 grappling hook it was better and made the game feel more fun being able to kill zombies then move away like spider man. I would like if they made the first one available for purchase for those who prefer the other grappling hook over this one. I personally hate this grappling hook and miss the old one. That what made the first game big that and the night cycle. I remember going back to beat dying light 1 just to get the grappling hook so I could be like spider man. That mix with the parkour made it amazing and switch between both was cool fun and unique. It didn’t take it self to serious and that’s what I liked. This one is a more serious use’s for it and I just don’t like it. No disrespect to those who do though

tip; if u point the camera in the opposite way of where ur grappling, you’ll fly the opposite direction. u can use that to chain grapples down streets, around buildings, or up buildings with more style. spider-man shit.

Honest question: Does the grappling hook/glide combo make the parkour useless in the game? I have seen a lot of "dying light 2 parkour" videos being about flying through the city like spiderman, which is not parkour.
