there was a bug that allowed Protect Me to select an enemy as your "protector". I think the guy who has shown the bug did mention that Come Unto Your Maker normally bypasses guard so it wouldn't work even then... guess he modded the game to make it no longer bypass guard

It's patched. The bug was that you could use abilities that target allies on the enemy by spamming between abilities quickly, they patched that glitch as a whole and therefore this one as well
"Look closely" like you really have to look closely to see that's the entire point of the video. What I meant is I'm surprised the move itself doesn't bypass guard. For instance, if you have a houndmaster guarding your jester (or whatever) are you physically unable to sacrifice your jester?
Personally the start for me is the hardset part (aside from the DD/ending part if you dont spoil yourself of the levels layouts). This is because at the start money is very tight, this leads to less provision and more careful upgrades choices. Also you have less upgrades on the hub area too. Some tips I have is: 1. Probably never do short expeditions, not having campfire (which is free to do) helps with health and stress, this helps in and put of dungeons, since your party will in better shape for follow up expeditions so less need in using the bar and church. 2. If you have like a lv1-3 hero with barely any upgrades, meh quirks and is aflicted, just boot him out lol. Again lack of resources is what makes early difficult (my one exception is dismas and reynauld bc I wanted to save them for the heart to get an achievement)
