I've never been on a cruise ship but I grew up in Southern California so I was close to the ocean. I've been fishing on big boats. I've done sailboating and trips over to Catalina Island which is a fun place to visit about 3 hours across the ocean. To swim. Snorkel and shop.❤

Travel by ferry boats or ship is a good alternative in going to different islands. In the last decade, PH tried to modernize the ferry system, avoid overbooking of passengers and reforms were implemented in hiring of crew and maintenance. Result: no more major sea mishaps or disasters.
As long as you’re not in a hurry, sea travel is good.

Sometimes, you have to be wise when traveling. If your departure time falls towards the night or past 4PM, you might as well take ferry instead and save on the room expenses. Because check-in time for most hotels/airbnb nowadays is at 4PM. Now, if your ETA in Cebu is around 5PM onwards, obviously you don't have much time to explore but stay in your hotel and pay full room rate.

@M J Regular ferries schedules are more fixed and only once daily especially between two distant points like Cebu and Manila. So you have to buy ticket in advance. Ferries ticketing offices don't need to operate 24/7 because their trip schedule is only once daily and leave at a fixed time. You have to plan in advance if you want to travel by ferry between long distant points. For short ferry trips like between Cebu and Bohol or Cebu and Leyte, tickets can be purchased online or in many ticket or travel agencies inside malls and even hotels beyond 5PM.

Transportation between Manila and Cebu is most extensive in the whole country with lots of options as these two destination have the most number of travelers. Aside from the air links with over 50 flights daily (via several airline companies) between the two cities and daily ferry schedules, you can actually go by car or bike your way between Manila and Cebu via roll-on/roll-off ferries, though much longer but at least you have your own car or vehicle when touring around Cebu.

I remember taking the ferry a few years ago to visit my GF in Cebu, and people thought I was crazy for taking the ferry instead of taking the plane, hahaha! I did book the suite as well, and it was a great deal if you don't mind killing time. It was a fun experience, although I have to say I did have an awful migraine a few hours after we set sail. I guess I got seasick for a while, but then I felt better after 8 hours and I was walking out and about in the boat until we docked. I was very happy I did that. My wife and I just took this exact same trip and even stayed in the same cabin as you did. Our voyage was longer as the ferry made a stop to load and unload cargo, 35 hours and 44 hours. Our cabin had no toilet paper unless we asked, had no soap and the A/C didn't work well during the afternoons. It took forever for the hot water to get from the engine room to the shower head. We also ate in the Horizon Café (all business and first class passengers do) and the food was always cold. The staff was asked to micro wave it before serving and that solved the problem. They would also warm up the cold pizza and adobo we hard brought with us. Our ticket for an Aug. 4 departure was $180, almost twice what you paid but still a bargain in my mind. There were a lot more passengers on our voyage with the cafeteria line up out the door and all the way to the reception desk. This boat has no WIFI and cell phone conductivity is spotty. Many times to get cell service you had to out on the top deck. All in all it was a great trip, the boat was clean and the staff friendly.

Thanks for this video, I missed my Hometown Cebu City. Last time I got to visit there was Sept. of 2019. I did not know that we still have this type of boat transportation from Manila to Cebu and vice versa. I envy you guys, it's now in my bucket list to do, hopefully soon. Enjoy your trip, Von Voyage.

The sun looks big because its nearer the horizon than you usually see it. We tend to see the sun setting over trees or buildings or hills. At sea, it goes down to the lowest possible horizon, giving the sun a context you don't usually get. You can get the same effect if you're at an ocean beach facing the direction of the sunset/rise.

Wow, Thank you for showing us what is like inside the modern boat. As far as I can remember, it has been like 37+ years ago since my last boat ride traveling to other islands in Mindanao and Manila. If travel time is not of an issue and would like to experience the boat ride in a full day then the boat is much more relax than an airplane in a perfect day. You have the chance to see different islands in your boat route during the day and night skies as well. I would highly recommend to get a cabin exclusive for you to have your own privacy and bath. Welcome to my hometown beautiful Cebu. Enjoy and have fun, you have plenty of places you can go from beaches, to mountains and in the metro. Lastly, pls don't forget to try our regional foods especially from the very famous LECHON CEBU known to the world and seafoods. Be safe guys, pandemic is not yet over.

@@MattandJulia If you get seasick, just take a pill we called Bonamine. It is over the counter meds that you can buy to any pharmacy. It comes really handy. I always have that when travelling, you never know when it hit you. This is not only for seasick episode but also motion sickness when commuting in a bus to different towns that would require 2-4 hours travel. It is recommended to take one pill 30 mins to hour before your depature time so that you can rest and fall asleep. Goodluck !!

My longest journey in a boat was 22 hours from Manila to Roxas City. It was called Super Ferry back then, owned by Aboitiz, one of the Philippines elites. I also took NN or Negros Navigation and Sulpicio lines once. I had a wonderful experience. I really liked going to the top of the ship and feel the breeze on my face. It was worth the long hours journey.

Hai go to' El Nido' .El Nido is a Philippine municipality on Palawan island. It’s known for white-sand beaches, coral reefs and as the gateway to the Bacuit archipelago, a group of islands with steep karst cliffs. Miniloc Island is famed for the clear waters of its Small and Big lagoons. Nearby Shimizu Island has fish-filled waters. The area has many dive sites, including Dilumacad Island’s long tunnel leading to an underwater cavern.
