- Everywhere I go people ask me if I can play the Allman Brothers (even my teachers at school). So here is, finally, Little Martha, written by Duane Allman. Leo Kottke calls this the most perfect guitar piece ever written. Unfortunately, Duane Allman died in a motorcycle accident only a few weeks after this song was recorded.
I teamed up with my friend Sarah for this beautiful video: / sarahmaggic

I would have never imagined that in 2020 I would be watching a youngster play Little Martha a song I smoked weed and listened to in 1974. How the Allman's live on is simple amazing.
Quality will always last. :)
I knew back in the 70's that I would listen to "Little Martha" as long as I stayed alive. It's 50 years later and "Little Martha" still gives me a visceral thrill and puts a smile on my face - every time. It is my favorite piece of music.
I, too, am amazed at how well the Allman Brothers' music has held up over the years.
It's awesome, isn't it? 🤗
Oh my, you are so correct, my roomie back then, in 1973, would sell a pound /week (back then it was storm ditch weed @ $15/OZ!) out of our dorm room. We were so stone that year & the Allman Bros "Eat A Peach" was playing non-stop. Ahh those were the days
I listen to this young man on the day, today, that Dickey Betts passed away. I have been practicing this song for over 50 years. The joy I see with this young man makes me cry today.
it's a sad day, but we can still enjoy the beautiful music they left behind. thank you so much for listening
Thank you, well played.
I am 71. I still play this regularly, sometimes just for me.
It is just one of those magical tunes that always feels nice.
absolutely agree! wishing you all the best
Fantastic cover of Duane’s Little Martha Whoever the 16 people who gave thumbs down You’re totally tone deaf
more than tone deaf...Souless
Thank you!
They are either trash pop fans, or jealous/cocky guitarists who can't play this.
Jealous they can't play this song guitar themselves that's all!!
The only instrument I play is the radio but I love this tune.@@TheresaMiller-pd6xl
Some Beautiful Picking there Quentin, You did Duane proud here
No matter how many people I hear play this amazing piece of music, it never tires my ear. You did a beautiful job covering it! Duane would be very proud.
Beautiful video and wonderful cover. Best I've heard next to Duane himself. Great job!!!
Duane would be proud.
I first found this 5 yrs ago not long after it published on RUclips. I was searching for a lesson for this song because after 50 years of being a musician I suddenly wanted to learn to play it the right way. I had always assumed there were 2 guitars on the original Duane recording. This offering by this young master set me up and set the record straight, too!
I think Both Allman Brothers are smiling and shining their light down on you. God Bless
Davey, The song has two guitars in it ,both Duane & Dickey & the alternate take with Berry Oakley on Bass. I believe they played it in Open E tuning. The song was recorded weeks before Duane's death.
Paul, first off, thanx for that info and secondly, knowing that, makes this offering by Quentin even more special!
PS. When I (re)learned this song I only come close to Quentin but I’m totally thrilled that I can give it some justice!
Fantastic. A sensitive musical interpretation with nice videography to match.
Excellent finger picking and bass lines!
Brilliant rendition of one of my favourites! Thanks!
This is a great cover by a talented young guitar player. I love this song, I dont know how many times I watched your video and the one from Duane, but yours looks better for the images, well done by your companion. Keep up my friend, and many thanks.
Woaooo! One of the best version. I playd it before i got parolysed in the hands from ALS. Realy miss gitarr playing.
tough to hear that, but at least you had the chops to play something like this. Not just anybody can play a tune like Little Martha. God bless
Wow, this was great! From the visuals to the music. Stunning!
Es la mejor versión acústica de little Martha que he escuchado !!!
Nice job! Pretty much spot on...
Duane would be proud!
Haven't played this one myself for a while, but you inspired me. Time to tune to open E and give it a shot again...
Thank you...

Thank YOU for the response Quentin.
Play on my friend...
I have got to say that I honestly didn’t know about Duane writing this song. I have recently been delving into Allman Brothers Band history. He was an excellent guitarist and I am sure he would be greatly pleased with your performance with this song. It was awesome. Thank you for sharing!
Well-done, Quentin - doing the song as well as you have as a solo and not as a duet as it was originally-recorded, is no easy feat. Congratulations and thanks for playing.
A beautiful rendition of a song that can bring a tear to my eye every time I hear it. Well done
to close to be true, I love this son, I think is one of the best Guitar composition but i need to see it in a live stream, the Duane original play is the cream of the cream , this version is close to that, my thumb is up but again would like to see a live stream
EXELENT.
Hey man I just gotta tell ya, you "nailed" that song man! I don't remember how old this video is, or what you're up to these days, but you sure started on the right foot towards greatness. Brilliant filming, everything top notch! Rock on man, hope you're well.
Why this cover has not more views ? It's incredible. You're an amazing guitar player and if you work hard you'll be able to work on the side of the others greatest guitarists. Rock from Switzerland 👌
An interesting bit of trivia here I guess you could say. I saw the Allman Bros and Greg on a solo tour many times through the 70s and into the 80s. After each show when the roadies came to tear down, you would always hear Little Martha coming out the PA. As the crowd headed for the exits, I'd just sit there and take it all in.
Awesome cover. Great music is timeless, and great music is never forgotten so long as great musicians keep playin' it! Keep rock alive!
Beautiful song! Great performance.
Makes me happy to see and Hear.
I learned it sometime back in grade 9 or so no less than 46 yrs ago.
Timeless. Good job.
I once seen it done on a 12 string bass tuned open also.
I still play it every once in a while
And
On a national steel for a long time
I thought it was a trip on the reso man.
COOL 👍👏💪♥️
Felt like a walk in the woods to set my soul free
Thank you
Your mastery of this classic is inspiring, along with the mastery of your film and sound crew. Thank you
Wow what a talent
Wow. Absolutely gorgeous sound. Spectacular.
Lovely
Great Job I ve tried to play this song of Duane's for years. Gettting Better just sounding it out. But still now no where as good as the way you played it here! Great Job. Duane was also an incredible guitarist. He died young sadly.
Quentin, you never cease to amaze. You are such an inspiration because you can get so much joy from the instrument. Time to get to work!
Nice playing and the tone of that guitar is something else.
Excellent version. Thanks for sharing.
Great cover Quentin,beautiful vidéo.
Bernard
I think Duane would have been proud of you, great job!
Hi Quentin, I never got an advice from You Tube for this upload, so almost missed it. I'm so glad i didn't, it's really beautiful. Superb playing, as per usual. A beautiful video, all round. Well done! Cheerz from Len :-)
I liked that one very much, Quentin. Thanks so much for sharing.Dave
Talent is sublime.

Excellent, my friend
I will try to cover this beautiful song to post on my channel. Your version will be my reference. Thank you. beautiful work
Little Martha, Embryonic Journey and Water Song are best songs for anyone who can play them...
I can't wait to here some of your original songs and your voice is nice, like Mark Knofler's...its the tone...a story-telling voice...
Not many folks have that vocal quality...
You remind me of myself when I was 16...over 45 yrs ago!
Awesome ☺️☺️☺️ty for sharing
I'll say it again excellent cover of a classic, and congrats on the excellent recording quality and film editing.. beautiful.
I played this in the 80s, I'm now 72 year old thinking about picking up the guitar add giving it a try again on this song.
Wow! I don't think I've ever seen any other cover of this great song as good as this man! Great performance and love the setting around it too :)
Heard Leo Kotke say, "Duane Allman said this song came to him in a dream... in a DREAM...'
Very nice - thank you. Enjoyed the playing and video. Well done. Long live Duane...
well that was well done. So glad Duane took time to write down his music. I also am glad that you played this and shared it with your fans. The best to you from your friend Earl in Huntington Beach Ca.
Love this tune. Found you doing These Days. Great stuff! Up next? Give Greg's acoustic version of Come and Go Blues a shot.
Awesome 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 my most favorite song ever 🍑❤️☮️🍄
How. wonderful.
Excellent job thanks for keeping this music alive.
One of the fuunest songs to play! You know you can play if you can do this one...
Fantastic !
Great cover and filming!
Holy crap Quentin! That is just beautiful! So amazingly executed...you have a gift my friend!
as I am not English mother tongue,
please someone explain with their own words what 'to have a gift' means, or possible might mean.
"to have a gift" typically infers a that God provided you with a gift (an extraordinary talent) that others may not have.
Beautifully done video and a faithful cover to an Allman Brothers classic. Amazing talent!
Delightful!
excellent cover of a classic ! thanks for sharing.
Great job!!! You played that masterfully. Thanks for posting I really enjoyed it
Great video Quentin :) Sounded great , fun to watch too :):)

Absolutely beautiful man. Its not easy taking such an iconic piece and covering it..
Beautiful
Very nicely played
Remembering the artist
wonderful playing...really
Great job, Quentin. I'm always interested to see how people convert this duet into a solo, and your version is maybe the best I've seen so far. Plus, you put together a nice video to go with it. I'd have to give you and A+ on this one.
Thanks for keeping great musicians songs alive. I like your aesthetic too, well done.
Nice job, young man. Guess you’re not so young any more, considering this video is about 5 years old. Either way, helluva job.
I came across your version bc I was working up a version myself. Yours is one of the better ones I’ve stumbled across. You did yourself and Brother Duane proud.
Keep up the good work, my friend. All the best.
That was a sweet song and very nicely played Quentin! You have come far and getting better each day. It's good to hear!
Just stumbled across this vid. Damn fine job man ! Great similarities to the way they played it. Liked the scenery too. WOW !!!
Nice...love playing that tune.
Delightful.
Great job! That is the best version I've heard since the original.
What a beautiful rendition young man very very well done.
Beautiful picking Quentin ! You're the best :) and beautiful setting !
Marie
Hey man that's beautiful playing. Thank you for posting your efforts.
Tim
I love your play..
Where is this video set?
I love the landscape.
Those pine trees make me think of my home state, Georgia.💖
'Taller than a Georgia pine!' Lol.
Beautiful, Beautiful cover.
So true to the original.
Thank you Quentin.
GREAT JOB HERE, THANKS, BRO, COUSIN FIGEL
Really well done- and the overcast probably helped with the camera work. Beautiful tune, and I like Tommy's sig on your guitar- he's about my favorite guitar player ever! (Didn't think anyone would catch that, did you? ;-) Tremendous job, atta boy, Quentin! And atta girl Sarah for shooting the video, hope you got an A!
Awesome tribute. Well executed and visually wonderful.
Thaank you young man . Well done
@@jerrylagesse9046 thank you so much!
Outstanding bravo young man
@@shelleyharrop1419 thank you!
Righteous !
Great cover my friend
Just ......perfect !
Nice! I didn't realise that was one of Duane's. (I came to it via Jerry Douglas.) Now I've got to have a go too! Cheers Bud.
Well, now it's your turn. I heard and saw this video already a few days ago and I wrote to Sarah such a short comment as I often write. It's nice to see you together out there in the woods ... oh I mean doing this video. I have already waited for this video, and it is exactly such as I hoped and expected it to be. I hope you have the next time a little warmer weather to make the video if you are doing it outdoors. I hope you can do more together this kind of videos. I like a lot of Sarah's camera working and visual ideas. You have already earlier experience to be in front of Sarah's camera.
I think that this music is very suitable to these images and this is more that your "traditional" style. How would one day be something Cuban music? It would perhaps be better to somewhere by the sea.
This is so nice.
From a long time allman bros. fan, that was beautiful - well done.
Fantastic video and music Quentin !
Cheers,
Thomas
just a delightful honorific to Duane. Leo Kottke called this the perfect guitar piece. Just dArling, watching you play and have fun.
You’re GREAT! Really awesome.
Great work! Love the camera work and guitar playing is awesome
Lovely 😊
