Nerdcore tends to be dismissed because its usually rappers acting as characters (which is weird cuz most rappers are rapping as characters even when talking about themselves), but it gives a certain freedom that is absent from traditional rap. I relate to these anime characters as much as I relate to dudes doing drugs and shooting guns so I get the benefit of rappers using all their creativity without the supposed downsides.
I dunno why, but people that don’t watch Anime don’t understand the pure adrenaline high of the hype and audacity of the genre. They discount it cuz American Animation is either kid’s shows or satire with little to no creativity in terms of animation. Anime is in a league of its own, and sometimes, you need an equally insane beat to exemplify how bada** it really is.
it also have a added benefit, people who dont know about rap but liek anime could watch this and enjoy it, maybe even get interested in thsi kind of music from a nice video like this
@@gexianhen Its true. I like the lyricism in rap. But I don't care for the topics. With Nerdcore I get to listen to good rapping and its actually about something I care about.
For the third person (Eustass Kid/ Connor Quest) the whole thing I liked with the metal related lines is thats basically the character since he controls metals and magnetic pulls, also for the Basil Hawkins part, that character was him so you were right on that part
As good as the bars are, it's even crazier when you know about One Piece. All the characters are rapping to what powers they have (or the position they're in), in addition to the crazy schemes themselves. This is so good!
15:32 I know you didn’t catch the bar, but when he said “Black Air Force style, stepping like CJ”, that’s not actually a show reference, but a RUclips reference to CJ Dachamp and his series on the Black Air Force Energy characters in anime. Great series if you want to hear about straight diabolical behavior in anime explained in hood English
YESSIR!!! Knox doing Nerdcore is amazing to me. I love whenever he catches a bar. I would recommend Okay by Rustage or Good bye by Rustage, both amazing and emotional tracks by Rustage. Zach B: Heart and soul is also relatable. DPS: Split is about Moon Knight and a fucking great song!
I know this may get drowned out but Shwabadi has some really dope ones you should check, like the Beasts of Anime rap cypher, Look Like Death, and Ranking of Kings
I’ve been waiting for you to react to this! To answer your question, the character Shao is rapping as is named X Drake. Also, if you checked the description of the video it shows the names of the characters from the anime and who their rapppers are (this is also at the beginning of the video). Hope this helps!
12:50 Bro said something about Basil, then "Opposition think they are damaging me- Basil Opposition was i think a tech guy in Austin Powers. I only now got this reference
The character that Show Doe plays in this is X Drake, formerly known as Dory Drake. He literally crossed out the name Dory to remove any connection between him and his father. So bars, "For F's sake, X marks the Drake" and "You can find one piece, but you'll never find a Dory." Are both plays on his name. Also, there is another character named Dory, who in the eyes of the government has been missing for 100 years, and the only people who know his location are the main crew. I don't think the last bar was also supposed to connect to Dory and Braggy, but it did.
I'd recommend "Fiend like me", "The fine print" and "Rest Employed" by the Stupendium- more from the gaming side of nerdcore than the anime side, but all have a message that extends beyond the game, and all are lyrical masterclasses
Agreed, pretty much everything from Stupendium is AAA (in a good way...not an EA way). That said, it isn't quite as rap-centric but I'd still argue everyone should listen to their song 'Shine Through' at least once! I'd probably throw Slide into the Void and/or Most Fashionable Faction in the mix also (there really are just too many good choices)
The Stupendium also did a Spamton song that was INSANE! Legit, AD INFINITUM is one of his best songs, but it's a LOT to break down; especially if you understand the undertones. I would enjoy seeing Knox tackle that one.
That u.k. flow you talked about was for "Bege" a prominent side character who the one piece creator took inspiration from Al Capone. Thought you might appreciate that reference Knox.
13:15 The guy who's mentioned to have polysyllabic flows, Khantrast, is slick as hell. You've gotta check out more of his stuff. I'd recommend his and Rustage's Beerus rap, it's sick. Here's the link: ruclips.net/video/PJSumXlZf6s/видео.htmlsi=SKMeNtbMPA30vKMQ Khan just kinda slays every track imo. I haven't heard anything bad yet.
YESS!! Knox is doing more Nerdcore tracks!! Keep them coming man! There are a lot of fire tracks out there waiting for you to react to! I’d recommend Rustage’s Beerus rap and DaddyPhatSnaps Goku rap!
Love your breakdowns on these and how you recognize the skill that goes into crafting them- I’m here for it! The three forks in the road is a reference to that Character, Zoro, and his use of Three Sword Style. If you think you’re ready for it, you can do last year’s #1 Cypher: Femboy of Anime Cypher aka Femboy Firing Squad by Ham Sandwich. ~_~
I love that you stepped up to this side of music. i recommend daddyphatsnaps he has lot of good raps. for example the jotaro rap „Drip“ or the levi rap „Captain“ or kirishima rap „unbreakable“ which is one of his best songs
@Crazy TV Oh for sure, I would definitely would a long ass video of him breaking down that Cypher. Need to get him to breakdown some Ty Wild verses, something like on Shwab's Twilight
It's so wild seeing Rustage's work being reacted to because even though I know he gained his following through his music, I primarily know him as the Dungeon Master for One Piece D&D 😂
You react to nerdcore, I’m here every time. Love your breakdowns, even if you don’t get every bar your knowledge of the technical end of what is happening is just fantastic.
if you want a cypher, i would check out ham sandwich "F.F.S." or breeton boi "Sorcery Fight!" if you want a song, i would check out daddyphatsnaps' "What's Your Type?" or peso pete "Rob Lucci"
I'm glad you give those guys some respect for their writing and stuff and don't just call it off as some 'Catoon-Rap' or stuff :) If you would like to continue with some Rustage stuff in the kind of same genre......... I suggest 'Yonko Cypher' and 'Bount by Blood'.
Glad to see more "regular rappers" giving the vibes a chance. Some suggestions I could give are DPS, Mir Blackwell, Golden EMP, Breeton Boi, Divide Music, HalaCG, Chi-Chi, and Dan Bull for a good mix on what the community has. Lot of different styles both musically and production wise for a medley of vibes. Also one of my personal favorite up and coming artist is Darrnell Bradley, once he gets his mixing and shit a bit more developed he's gonna be a problem
Awesome Reaction Knox, If you are interested in a more funny but still awesome Cypher I would recommend the Muppets Cypher by The Stupendium. Some of the Nerdcore Guys (like Shwabadi or Connor Quest) are on it as well. A lot of people with awesome writing and rhyme schemes combined with a lot of fun.
We must up vote this! I so want to see and hear Knox dissect the Unlikely Cypher for an hour! No one else pays attention to the beat and the undertones
Hey knox loved your reaction and breakdown but for the part at 17:01 the punches gear three bar refers to luffy's ability called third gear where he makes his hands or feet massive and hits someone also would love if you checked out the anime duos cypher or some fabvl especially his song called world i never knew
This is so funny because Knox hasn't watched one piece and there are great references, but Knox is like "three-way blade?" not knowing of Zoro's Santoryu fighting style.
ok late to see this... but i just love how the alcapone guy just slowed down the cypher for us to get a breath... is sooo good when this happns cause we were into hard, hard, hard... chill and buid up again...
the doc marten line is still one of my favourite in nerdcore it is just the smoothest triple i have ever heard with war doc hurt as i in john hurt who played the war doc and war doc as in Trafalgar and also the doc marten which is the obvious one
i wish he could understand the references because while most bars go hard they don’t even have a sexual innuendo or anything it’s a reference from the show like “bricked up castle” the guy can literally turn into a castle/fortress that’s his power

Nice! Some of these verses have stuck in my head since it was released but I always forget how solid everyone was throughout. love rustage, hes got a dungeons and dragons campaign themed around one piece and he recently made a rap about it, flows great and has tons of references.

Yeah man! Excited to see this! Didn’t know you were checking out nerdcore stuff too! Might I recommend Dan Bull’s civilization or Minecraft stuff? I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
Love the breakdown here but also wish you'd known their names going in so you could see the wordplay around their own names and the shade they were throwing at each other.
